    Possible SPOILER

He can be killed, it takes a CG fighter with a lot of stoneskins and scather to do it or as some people has mentioned elsewhere a certain feat that allows you to make a 5 foot step after your full attack(cannot remember the feat).
I did it a few times in earlier versions using the stoneskin version.
XP is what you get, no loot, Hedrack has loot though

Well I think it'll be fun.
I used a littel overpowered woundrous item and a bardsong to hang in there at level 13...I'm gonna need some more levels to actually hit him though. using a Barbarian as the major damage factor.

Also woudl be nice to figure a way to hit him with spells.

I wonder if there is another place to spawn him. I don7t ahve to beat him now if I can have another chance to battle him later.

Once you've done this, you now end a character's turn (during combat) by pressing the space bar.

    1. Yes. If you let Iuz go during the combat with Hedrack, then you will get to fight Iuz later on in the game during the quest 'Demons & Demigods' (but only if your party alignment is 'Good', otherwise you won't get to fight Iuz later on in the game) where you will have unlimited time to fight him.

    2. I'm guessing no (but you get XP for killing Hedrack and his cohort).

    3. Yes. I believe that the scenario during the combat with Hedrack dates back to the original version of the game. This is what happens during that combat: If you kill Hedrack quickly, then Iuz and St. Cuthbert never appear during the combat. If you injure Hedrack and allow enough combat rounds to pass, then an avatar of Iuz appears, casts animate dead on all of the dead opponents, and then he fights you for 3 rounds, after which an avatar of St. Cuthbert appears, talks and then forces Iuz to leave with him. In the past, players have defeated the avatar of Iuz by using the Improved Trip feat to trip Iuz and keep him prone - as long as Iuz is prone, St. Cuthbert won't recognize that Iuz is there (and therefore you have unlimited time to kill Iuz). But I believe that the avatar of Iuz has now been made untripable to prevent this game exploit.

    4. No. His cool items automatically disappear from his inventory when he dies (but you may be able to steal them during combat).

Iuz has Spell Resistance [35], so good luck getting any of your spells to have any effect on him.

Another player stated that he never got the random encounter where the swamp lotus is. In my playthrough of 7.0.0 NC, I got the random encounter both with the assassin and the swamp lotus (on the same map) the first time that I travelled on the world map after selling Lareth's Boots to Gremag.

Seems that there's some cool hidden items in the game. When having the Prince Thrommel reward random encounter, I killed them to see if the loot was any good. On the knight's body with scather, I found an item called Prayer Beads (Karma). The description stated that the item allowed the wielder to cast divine spells as if they were 4 levels higher for ten minutes once per day. This sounded VERY useful for clerics and druids. Would it be possible to make it availible in the game besides having to kill this one RE unit? Like crafting or something. It seems similar to the ring of resonance, perhaps the witch in MS Respawn could offer it as a reward as well?

Edit: I recall you went through lowering spell volume in 7.0. Cloudkill is deafening, every time someone walks into it during battle it plays it's sound very loudly, same (I think) when it kills something.

And on the note of bugbear inventories in the elemental temples, I noticed a few discrepancies. One, the water bugbears carry far too many gnoll-bugbear shields, they should carry more of their elemental temple shields. Also, are there any round water temple bugbear shields? because there are in every other faction, and I would enjoy having the water ones complete as well. (They have the least temple shields). Also, air temple bugbears don't carry many shields, I only obtained 2 round air sheilds and 4~ spiked air shields, there was only one notched air shield. IMO I think there should be more of them, to best show the temple's alignment. (Also, I'm collecting the temple faction shields)

    Thanks.
    Spoiler alert-
I see I never noticed (or forgot) before because I think I usually rush this room and take that redarmored bastard out as quick as i can.
    *spoiler*
I would sneak into this room (really good habit entering any biggish room in any level in a CRPG in a dungeon, also save first if you can!) and defy wisdom to put the caster first. I drop the most ridiculous damage/debuff I ahve available (since this room cralls with mobs I like Cone of Cold to reach teh casters behind him) then usually i get cleric next (i take initiative feats on casters usually) to drop a firebomb, then charge with the tanks to hack him.

spoiler w/ suggestion for NCs of the future.

This room is a bit anticlimatic because it puts the boss at the front of the melee and he does little to rely on help/sheilding himself. WIth a level cap 10 its a fair enough battle. But by about level 12 its just too easy to take him out. The Giants and two wizards area great touch to come in ontop of your head and swarm you after (if you take him out) but I kinda think if he used them as fodder (ettins and giants for fodder, now that is epic!) then he came into the melee as part of the swarm, then he'll be harder to kill, he'll be more likely to spawn Iuz...and that battle gets intense!!!!

I think it would be an appropriate place to have that kinda intense matchup too, cuz the nodes are pretty tuff and he is the last boss before them. It would be too hard though for a level cap 10 maybe with no NC. So only an NC version, where peopel have enough other content to level before this battle/load up on crafted goodies.

Anyone agree that moving him to the back of the pack would make this battle more challenging/interesting?

    Oh on another note,
although a bit difficult, I think it might be possible to take him out in 3 rounds without trip.
I might try it just for the challenge/fun later.
For now though I think I7ll just do my normal rush to take Hedrak out and look forward to Iuz later on that new quest.

I always play good parties. Never get into evil/nuetral roleplaying much.

That is most strange. I have a neutral good party and I did exactly what you did down to 20 gold and I got no masterwork repeating crossbow.

    I want it dammit.

    On my chaotic neutral playthrough...

I got the crossbow (but no XP) after recruiting Elmo and convincing Renton to let the Tailor join to make up the missing man.

Solving the quest through the Diplomacy check gets the Tailor in by sewing the uniforms (with XP and his optional 20GP donation)

Personally I was happier with the XP - wouldn't want to take a feat for the crossbow.

As far as i can recall, the only times i have gotten this reward, is when i had sufficient conversation skills to get Renton to agree to allow Jinnerth to join the militia, without the uniforms creation requirement. I had to wait to resolve the quest until my Bard/ Rogue party face was about level 6-7 or so with maxed Diplomacy, Bluff, Intimidate etc. for his level.

There was a conversation option to tell Renton something along the lines of "Our cleric communed with his god, who demands you allow Jinnerth into your militia" and this option ALWAYS led to the masterwork repeating crossbow reward when i turned in the quest. i have had this result with three different party builds.

Can this be confirmed by anyone else? I have not been able to get the reward any other way. Since i like my bard to have a magical repeating crossbow, this is a major goal of my subsequent playthroughs. I then give the "Iolos' Joy" to him, and pass the enchanted repeater from this quest to my mage after earning him the exotic weapon feat.

Maybe the convo requirement for this could be reduced slightly (???), as by the time you can earn the masterwork crossbow through conversation skills, you are likely strong enough to earn the unique one by wresting it from the cold dead hands of the witch of the "Moathouse Respawn". Just my humble opinion :) this might be hardcoded...

    Yes, that sounds like it.

Also, random question, does selling Lareth's stuff to anybody OTHER than the traders (who I killed/ drove off) trigger the lareth assassin quest?

I'm about 99.9% sure you have to sell Lareth's gear to one of the two traders in order to get the following RE.

I believe it has to do with their involvement with the temple.

The latter is not dependant on the former. All appearances of Iuz are considered to be avatars of his, so if you kill one you're not really killing Iuz. I believe this is considered canon (even though it's not mentioned explicitly in vanilla), as it's not really possible for a mortal to kill a god.

    Will fix.

    We'll see.

Was your speaker's inventory full at the time?

Nope. Inventory not even close to full.

Also, since killing one of the traders trigger 'target for revenge', does that mean I get the assassin encounter for killing Lareth anyway, or are the encounters for Lareth and the traders two separate assassin encounters?

And are the loots good? ;)

If you got the "Target of Revenge" rep, AFAIK the assassin should join the traders' ambush - which makes the ambush considerably harder to survive - without losing a caster or two anyways.

And yes, the loot is good! :pelvicthr
