It sounds as though your game became corrupt when you were levelling up your wizard. My advice would be to load your last game save before you levelled your wizard up (i.e. when the game malfunctioned during levelling up). If you don't have any game saves before then, then I recommend that you either start a new game all over again, or wait until version 7 of the Circle of Eight Modpack is released on December 20 (the advantage of waiting for version 7 is that it includes a lot of new content including The War of the Golden Skull).

As soon as you experience a malfunction while playing this game, it is advisable to immediately quit the game, then run the game (making sure that you have the option Clean Game Cache On Startup activated in the Options menu of the ToEE Front-End X), and then load your last game save before you experienced the malfunction.

Ignore the UI as it's under development.

My question is, why the hell do I have 2 blocks of level 6 spells? :(

You spent 1699 of your precious gold pieces on an Acid Fog scroll from Verbobonc and then your witch foolishly attempted to learn the Acid Fog spell from that scroll.

I think that's it. Acid Fog screws up spell lists. Sadly it will be gone in v7 because of that.

    It's true... I'm guilty
    I didn't know that.

BTW, I can still keep on playing the game with a broken-in-half level 6 spell list right?
Or does this bring some surprise corruption in the future?

I just loaded a previous save game (just for testing) and selecting that spell from the level up spell list also screws my known spell list.

But weren't the spells for PC levels > 10 created by Co8?
    Aren't spells python scripts?
What I mean is, can't this be fixed in the python scripts or is it bugged by the engine?

It seems to have something to do with the fact that it's spell number 000 (in some indices). I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it.

I think you can keep playing withot any other problems.

Just thinking out loud here, but if this index is static then maybe this problem could be worked around by removing this spell from player's access and adding a new spell to replace it (eg: Acidic Fog).

    Changing subject...
I'm now at the temple fighting the Hextors and it may be just me but the hextors' summons have a crazy number of attacks per round! One time they called some spider and the damn thing attacked me 10-14 times... it was crazy! While my summons (augmented dire bear and large earth elementals) seem to have 1 attack per round. Is this normal?
I don't know if this matters, but I'm under an invisibility sphere (which isn't of much use here anyway since they see through it :bored:)
This fight is hard as hell... I'm getting raped here!
And they spawn elder elementals like mushrooms! I can't kill those damn things.
EDIT: in a lucky streak I was able to kill them (with one death on my side).

To complicate matters I'm getting game freezes!!! 5-15 second freezes when I move the mouse to scroll the "game area screen"... and 1 crash!
EDIT: for some reason it seems scrolling the screen using the cursor keys instead of the mouse seems to ease the problem.

another issue: there is a bug in the options menu, the option "party banter (text)" is not being saved. Any way to fix this?

Thank you Azured and Gazra, levelling up again solved this, as level 2 spells "opened up". However, it seems that somehow I must have chosen a specific field (although my wizard still appears as plain "wizard" and not s disciple of a specific school, because he cannot choose some of the spell schools (they are greyed out). However, this is ok, too. I am not sure if this is a sign of a corrupt game (the fact that the wizerd's sheet does not explicitly state his specific school).

I don't think the charecter sheet will specify if you are a Diviner or Necromancer etc.. I think it will still say wizard even if you specialize. If you forgot/or wish to know what school you specilized in go to your spell memrization Tab and your specialty spells will be a yellow color instead of white and your last spell slot will be the same color (for your extra spell you get); Then of course the greyed out ones on level would be your two prohibited schools.
I have to do this alot because my job sometimes makes it so I don't have the time to play TOEE for weeks or even months on end, so I got to go back and remind myself of my saved parties feats/spells/equipment whatever alot of time the first 30 min after a long hiatus is just refamilarizing myself. On a good note my work can also cause me to sit at home for a month at end with nothing to do so it all comes out in the wash.

Thank you for your answer. I find the tabs and the information sheets in ToEE a bit laconic at times, at least in relation to that of Baldur's Gate, where there was an overload of information.

Where can I find the Slavers?

I'm only missing the Water Node and the Zuggy level to finish the game (I think).

I've done everything in the game, although I kind of left out (or even started some?) Verbo quests... I think.

    EDIT: found them (with google)

EDIT2: and killed them at my first try ;)

This question seemed to get glossed over, and I was sort of wondering the same. Does anyone have an answer? There seems to be no effect when I cast the spell on characters using wooden equipment.

    This is the Co8 definition:

Not all chests and doors are wood.

I guess I was more so referencing the bolded section. I have tried warp wood on enemies wielding long bows, short bows, clubs, and quarterstaves. In each instance, the combat log returns the message "(player) cast ~Warp Wood ~[]!" and nothing more. The enemies do not appear to take penalties on attack rolls in the combat log and bows are still usable after casting the spell on enemies wielding them. Is the spell not applicable in such instances?

I don't really know, as I didn't make the spell. I don't recall hearing of any such issues in the past.
