I just leveled my was getting all of the spell scrolls copied and after one of them failed (Ice Storm) it now says "Invalid Action" no matter what and I can't get the spell. EDIT: That happened with other spells but went away after doing something else.
Your Spellcraft score isn't high enough for 4th level spells like IceStorm. Next levelup put some skill points into Spellcraft. Success goes into the spellbook.
Once you fail on a copy scroll check, you don't get another chance with that spell until you gain a level and add to your spellcraft skill. That's the way it's supposed to be. Actually, the game only ever seems to remember the last failed copy scroll attempt you made, so if you fail on a second scroll, you can try again on the first one. This means you will never have more than one scroll you can't copy until you level up. Something of a cheat, since it's not supposed to work that way.
florian1: Thank you for the info but it is odd that this scroll still said "Invalid Action" even after failing other scrolls and what you said is what happened with other scrolls. wizgeorge: I have done higher level scrolls then that like Hold Monster which is a level 5 spell.
Are you saying you ended up with two or more scrolls in your inventory which gave 'invalid action' when you tried to copy them? Or did you eventually, without gaining a level, end up with just the one scroll which you couldn't copy?
