Reach weapons don't have reach in 6.1?

Or am I insane? I just started a 6.1 game, and it doesn't look like I am getting reach with reach weapons (I tried Halberd and Glaive). I have to move to 5' to attack, and I don't get an AoO when creatures move up to me (when not flat footed).

EDIT: it looks like Ranseurs and Long Spears do have reach, just not Halberds and Glaives.

Polearms are not automatically reach weapons. There may still be bugs involved here, but I stand by my first comment.

EDIT: Ok, I looked this up: according to the SRD the halberd is NOT a reach weapon but the glaive is. Glaives may be bugged. <Proof>

The halberd was 1.5 to 1.8 metres (5 to 6 feet) long.

Typically, the blade was around 45 cm (18 inches) long, on the end of a pole 2 m (6 or 7 feet) long

The thrusting spear also has the advantage of reach, being considerably longer than other weapon types. Exact spear lengths are hard to deduce as few spear shafts survive archaeologically but 6 ft. - 8 ft. (1.8m - 2.5m) would seem to have been the norm.

In the 4th century, tactical developments meant that knights and men-at-arms often fought on foot. This led to the practice of shortening the lance to about 5 ft. (1.5m.) to make it more manageable

Ranseurs are generally 6 feet or longer.

For me all qualify as reach weapon. Makes much sense?

Something to bear in mind with possible bugs of this nature is that, if they exist, they are related to core engine mechanics. No one snuck into the game engine and tinkered around and disabled reach weapons for 6.1.0. Nothing like this is ever a feature of a new modpack. If it's happening now, it's been happening all along, and if it wasn't happening all along, the reason is some other nebulous ToEE voodoo, not meddling gone wrong by us.

I did a play through with 5.5, and Halberd's definitely had reach at that time. Also, the item description text indicates they are reach weapons.

In 3.0 they were, but I checked the 3.5 srd, and it looks like it has changed -- no more halberd reach. Glaives do have reach, however.

My Glaive wielding fighter in 6.1 NC is having an AoO festival, combined with great cleave it's a beautiful sight to behold.

In summation; glaives do have reach in 6.1 NC.

That's funny, I just finished a playthrough with a Glaive specialist. Great cleave with a keen, flaming burst weapon with an x3 crit is a sight to see.

Here's what the SRD has to say about REACH WEAPONS.

If you look closely, there's no mention of a halberd in the list of reach weapons.

Well sirchet, it was a long and strenuous process - took days of sweat and turmoil - but at last, it is done! ;)
