Does anybody have this problem? Whenever I scroll, the screen jerks every second or so. Ie, the motion is smooth for a while, then does a jerk. I can't figure out what is wrong. I'm running this on an Atom/Ion netbook. I've tried turning AA and quad blending off but still it persists. So far this has happened on every map that I've tried, including the shop map and hommlet.

I would try reactivating the mod. (Activate vanilla, then activate Co8 again.) You'll have to start a new game though.

I've found the game is surprisingly snappier in all aspects at a lowly 800x600 resolution.

And much to my surprise, running high-res just doesn't add that much to this game.

Also weird is that on all windows installations I've tried, hitting ESC to pop-up the save/load/quit menu has a noticeable stutter and takes 2-3 seconds.

On linux with wine, there is no stutter - hitting ESC is instant

Thanks for the tip Gaear. Still can't get the jerkiness to resolve. I will probably reinstall it tonight and try it out. After reading older forum posts from 2003, there were many complaints about the flaws of the toee engine - one specific complaint sounds like mine, which is that the screen lags or jerks while scrolling. I'm wondering if anybody has experienced a similiar problem with similiar specs - namely a weak CPU like the Atom.

I've tried it on another laptop with a ULV SU2300 and the jerkiness is slightly better - though still noticable.

    Any thoughts?

If I eventually reformat one of my laptops to run linux I will try the wine option. :)
