These things never seem to want to work for me....

Hi, I just bought ToEE from GoG.com recently and saw a few suggestions for your mod. I downloaded it, and the official patches, but nothing seems to work! The patches say "Cannot locate ToEE, any elglish, on your computer." So I thought maybe the GoG version of the game came prepatched, no worries. I then tried to install the mod, I put the winrar file into my ToEE directory try to extract it and get this monstrosity...

I didn't see a tech support subforum, so I hope this is the right place to be asking for help. So yeah, any advice and what I can do to not be such a miserable screw-up?

edit: I also tried running the patches as admin, to no avail.
yet another edit: Well I got the files from the WinRar out by manually dragging them into the folder (I hope they still work that way), but I still have no idea if I'm up to date with patches or not.

 

Whole new can of worms now. I got the mod all installed, everything was ready to go... then I get an error message "There was an error launching ToEE. Make sure your game installation is intact. This error is fatal, the program will quit."

Final edit: Got everything to work. Turn out somehow my ToEE.exe was getting deleted, so I saved a backup and redid everything.

 

Sounds like an evil anti virus program.

 

You are using Windows 7.

Run TFE-X as administrator.

In explorer, navigate to :

c:/Program Files (x86)/GoG.com/Temple of Elemental Evil


Right click on TFE-X and "Run as Administrator"


(and watch out.. the frogs grapple)
