I got the quest from Smyth, but Welkwood Bog doesn't show up on my map (neither the graphic location nor on the text sidebar) however it appears in my quest log. Is there any way to fix this?
Yeah, talked to Kenter, although he doesn't have any dialog other than welcome dialog at the moment. When I ask Smyth for "something different" he doesn't say anything and it looks like a dead end dialog option.
kentar is for the orcs/HB i thought .. isnt the go t guy on this one smyth then the guard captian SW edge of homlet??
Captain Renton. You have to actually go talk to the person Smyth puts you in touch with. Smyth doesn't give out any quests himself.
Also I was wondering, is there a way to allow us to pick up Mathel's stuff without having to wait until his body disappears?
No ... you really weren't supposed to be able to do that anyway (loot limitation and all that). We may have to destroy his stuff via script so it doesn't show up later.
finished now the welkwood bog! I liked it much (expecially the "illusion" thinghies) yet.. yet, to be honest, I think some work could really improve it. 1) I hated the fact that in many maps enemies were "spawning" from the fround (like skeletons in emridy meadows), meaning sneaking skills were useless.. 2) I think that our "lich" should need some work.. i think it would be cooler if it was a caster (since the story said it was meddling into dark magic.. and it would make sense considering he tried to become a lich), ando also if at least you found a book or something that - lareth wise - told better its story, cause now it's kinda like all suspense, he dies, and than nothing.. he also was able to do those cool illusions (first one was very clever) and yet he can't mumble a thing? I totally think it has potential to become a more interesting character!
I'll also give an after-action report about my party's intervention in the matters of Welkwood Bog. I did this straight away after the opening vignette, so my party was level 1 at the start but leveled up during the fighting. A few notes that I deem worth mentioning: -My low-level not-sun-domain cleric blasted Mathel away just too easily with a single Turn Undead attempt. The other undead in the room were not influenced. I suspect that Mathel's undead character levels are somehow a bit out of order. -The much-discussed treasure chest had its trap disabled and lock opened with small effort by my rogue, but I did roll well on the disabling attempt. -The room with the chest was otherwise empty. While I do understand that it was probably due to the time of the day, it still seemed a bit funny for the bad guys to leave a treasure chest unguarded. -Regarding the equipment issue with Mathel, why not make one of his lackeys wield a reach weapon (as I suspect it would spice up the battle) and have him almost completely unequipped? With the right class, feats and stats he could be a formidable foe without problems about his reincarnating equipment, especially the Ring of Protection +2. Especially if you make him a spellcaster, which I think would sit well with his background just as nicely as his ability as a melee combatant. -The atmosphere in the Bog is spot on. I really liked the illusions, and for a moment I thought I was hosed when the Groaning Spirit came flying in. Didn't expect so many illusions.
