Ya know, I'm not sure. Maybe it was subconcious personal choice, but whenever I think of dual wielding my mind always goes to the sword/dagger combination. Which is silly, I admit, as I've played a wide variety of RPG's (both PnP and CRPG) and have seen, used, etc dual weapons in a wide variety of combos. Heck, even Minsc from my Baldur's Gate games was dual wielding 2 longswords!.

At the moment, in my party, I have a dual-wielding Elmo and a dual-wielding cleric of Hieronemous. I will later have a dual-bastard wielding half orc. But, at the moment, my most hits, damage and kills are from 2 single wielders: a 1/2 orc barb/druid with longspear, and later, mw ranseur, and the other is a human ranger (archery) who uses a mw glaive in melee. Admittedly, some of the kills are from the ranger's mw composite (18) bow.

Try my experiment, same strength and class, dual vs. polearm from level 1. Track # hits, max damage, and # kills.

The main reason I don't hit much with the off-hand is because I open combat with missile attacks (moving non-missile further back on initiative track), followed by charges. No enemy in contact is standing to receive a dual attack on the next round. So the lead weapon is used only, due to the charge attacks.

For a dual-wielder, consider Giant. He can use a polearm in his lead hand and a longsword as his light off-hand weapon. ;)

Is the Ranseur the superior version of the longspear? I saw it to buy for a higher price but I wasn't sure.

Also, how do I get my party icon on the right side of the screen? I thought there was a way.

I havn't seen Ronald yet. I've talked to the chief cleric of St. Cuthbert in the church but he's not there in the room next to his or anywhere else I can find.

Are you talking to Calmert or Terjon? Calmert's the first guy you talk to when you first enter the Church of St. Cuthbert. You can't see Terjon unless you see him first. When you go upstairs (go to the left of Calmert), after you are upstairs, you go past Ronald in a round room to the right (down on the map) before you get to Terjon. The round room is to Terjon's left. Ronald is the guy in the stud armor with a longbow. He talks like a fruit.

I'm in line ahead of you, wa-a-a-a-ay ahead of you. ;)

Do like I do, look at the title, and if that doesn't help, read through the entire entire thread. It's like reading "Ulysses". AND it helps me get in touch with my other selves / previous incarnations.

    BTW, it's Templar's thread. HE'S the one "off-topic". I'm just answering questions.

    Cherry, of course!

Terjon. I just couldn't remember how to pronounce his name. I paid Calmert his 'donation' and went upstairs to talk to Terjon, I didn't see anyone else up there.

Dual-wield is a bit more versatile.

My last game I had a wizard/fighter, with wpn finesse, short-sword specialization, imp. dual wield and +2 keen shortswords one with flaming burst, one with shocking burst. By about cumulative lvl 7 (wiz3, fgt4) he was superior to my Paladin with Greatsword. Wasnt dishing out much damage, but was definitely better for big groups of creatures. Possibly most useful at Imeryds.
