    I was struggling for some time with issue of not knowing how to transform day background of my 2D maps into night one.

    Thanks to this article How Ben Adds Light and Shadow to His Dungeons I managed to create one, so decided to share this info here.

    You will need the GIMP tool.

    1. Open your day background map in GIMP;
    2. Context menu on base layer and "Add alpha Channel" if not yet added;
    3. Add second layer.
    4. Fill second layer with transparent dark blue color by first selecting Tools\Paint Tools\Bucket Fill
    5. In Bucket Fill properties pane (leftwards) choose Color: 0f1115, Mode: Darken only, and then fill whole section.
    6. Select Paint Tools\Eraser, in properties - brush: circle, radius: 340 (subjective), Force: 23 (subjective), Apply Jitter 0.2, Incremental and clear light areas.
    In original article Ben has even better techniques, but this suits me.

    Fixing doors not completely visible problem.

    If you have such issue
    vision_extender.jpg

    Which displays like that:
    vision_extender2.jpg

    Then you can add "vision extender" tiles below doors scenery files. See how to use ToEE World Editor by @Shiningted .

    Steps:
    1. Menu \ View \ Tiles \ Vision *, check them all;
    2. Menu \ Tools \ Tile Vision editing, check;
    3. (opt) Menu \ Tools \ Tile Blocker Brush Size \ Three semi-tiles, check. It will make brush size to be full tile.
    4. Tools \ Edit \ VX to mark tiles as vision extender;
    5. Tools \ Edit \ VN to remove mark tiles as vision extender;
    Result:
    vision_extender3.jpg

    August and Shiningted like this.
