Yeah, I found mention of that level cap remover being a default of Liv's mod in another thread. Thanks. 15 hours? That's almost the amount of time I spend away from home. I get up at 4:30am, and by the time I get home, it's usually after 6:00 pm, often later than that. So I don't get much playing time.

You should consider giving the BG (& BG II) series another go. Some memorable stuff is in there; and most here would agree that it's as good as D&D gets on the PC, excepting only the ToEE engine. Better storylines & everything but combat.

And seein' as you're an old fart like me, I'll forgive you.

I might do that. I can't afford to upgrade my pc at this time, and so I'm out of luck when in comes to some of these new RPG games that are coming out. I so wanted to play Knights of the Old Republic, but not only will I need more RAM, I need a new video card. I'm half thinking of buy a X-Box and playing their version, but I since I already have a Playstation 2, I know my wife won't understand why I need 2 video game systems.

BG rocks. I loved the way my NPCs had some conversations. Don't know how it sounded in english. Got most of it written down. Xzar the paranoid necromancer is my favourite.

Thinking of playing with 6 Wizards (Xzar, Xan, Edwin, Dynaheir). Don't know how I'm gonna defeat oozes or golems.

    Anyone tried that??

Yup. Spell Penetration and GSP plus a stack of Magic Missile scrolls will often get damage through on even the most resistant creatures, as will Ice Storms. A high dex wizard with Point Blank and Precise Shot using a +3 Frost Shock Heavy Crossbow can pump out a fair amount of damage, and a STR 18 Dwarven Wizard with a belt of Giant STR +6, a +3 Frost Shock Staff, and Stoneskin, Blur, and Mirror Image makes a fair HtH fighter. The most useful tactic in the Temple is SF:Enchantment, GSF:Enchantment, and a small team of Charmed Hill Giants or Ettins: They make very good shock troops, and you can even buff them before fights.

Yup, I know it's possible in ToEE, but I was actually thinking of Baldurs Gate.

BG? You can solo BG and BG2 with a Wizard (a search for "Elmonster" will get you a walkthrough/fanfic on the subject, though not one of mine); a full party of wizards is no problem.

I did solo BG2 with a bard-blade. That was fun. Had that nasty katana +3 in one hand and the warhammer that gave 25 Str in the other. Don't know what were their names in english. My friends called me crazy then, now I see it's becoming more common to solo. :)

If you like storylines, I also HIGHLY recommend Planescape:Torment. Came out in 1999, so it's pretty old and should run with no problems on most comp's nowadays. It also uses the same engine as Baldur's Gate. I'm playing it at the moment actually (finished ToEE yesterday) and it's very philosophically deep. All about the meaning of the multiverse and death and immortality and whatnot. Not to mention Planescape's always been my favorite 2nd edition campaign setting...

As for parties, here's one group I had fun with:
    Human Fighter/Cleric
    Elven Sorceror/Wizard
    Elven Rogue/Ranger

With just 3 PC's you can level up pretty quickly, so in that case I find multi-classing to be worth it. I played the sorceror/wizard just cuz I'm a magic freak and felt like bathing my enemies in fireballs and magic missles...

I did try Planescape: Torment, but evenutally took it off my computer. Just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another try, but once I finish or get tired of TOEE, I think I'll give BG I & II another try. I kind of like your party lineup, but I was never into the magic users all that much when I played AD&D for real. I usually played fighters or barbarians (although I'd play an occassional paladin). But that does sound interesting.

If you like ToEE you might also try Icewind Dale 2. And upon trying bg1 once more - maybe tutu? It's a program that converts bg1 to bg2 engine.

Hmmm, interesting. Could you post a link for that or give some more info, 'cause I've been planning to play BG with only-Wizards party?

Hmm, sounds interesting. Where can I find it? I have Icewind Dale, but don't recall if I got ID2. Some of the later rpg's when I was playing with my old computer, I couldn't meet all of the hardware requirements. I can't remember if ID2 was one of those or not that I couldn't play. Either that, or it's in my storage unit. I'll take a look among all of my game boxes to see if I have it.
