What have I done? Hommlet has declared war on my party...

I've been travelling back and forth between the temple of elemental evil and Hommlet.
I collect loot in the temple until my party is encumbered and then I return to Hommlet to sell items at the Blacksmith's and then I rest my party at the Welcome Wench Inn.

I treat everyone in the town of Hommlet very well but now when I return from the temple the entire town attacks me!?

I can't understand why they have turned on me as I have not attacked anyone in the town and I have only killed enemies in the temple.

Is this a bug or have I done something wrong in the temple?

P.S. I'm running CO8 5.6.0 Beta with no other mods.

 

Several reasons for this could be

A. You let Meleny die when she was in your party...

B. You recruited and Evil follower like Scorpp the Hill Giant...

C. You have a Charmed an evil NPC with you...

There may be others, but if any of those apply, reload and fix the situation BEFORE going to Hommlet.

 

In past versions i would turn the town against me if a good PC was with me and he/she got caught in fireball blast or something. then when i released him/her or i got back to omlet, the town treated me as evil. I'm not sure if that's been changed in all the wonderful mods done by the Co8

 

Check your reputations in the log book. There are several quests that you may have completed in town or in the temple that got the peasants' ire up. Make a list for us so we can analyze.

Shiningted is THE MAN when it comes to understanding reputations. You can do a google search to find his RPG Rant on that topic.

 

I have not done any of the above so it must be something else.

Effect:

Victor of the Drinking Contest
Background:
You drank the good citizens of Hommlet under the table in a contest of alcohol tolerance.

Effect:
You have earned some notoriety for your drinking skills, although heavy drinking goes against the will of St. Cuthbert.

Grud Buddy
Background:
You helped Grud out of a bad spot.

Effect:
Nulb villagers love Grud, and now, thanks to your new friendship with him, they love you too!

Prison Liberator
Background:
You have rescued a prisoner from the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Effect:
Rumor has spread of a prison liberator within the Temple, and other prisoners have become hopeful, while the prison owners are becoming angry.

Did you pick pocket anyone in town and fail?

 

Nope.
I've always treated the townsfolk well.
It must be something that I did in the Temple but I can't figure out what.
