As it says in the title, what can cause a modded script (which works for other people) to fail to fire?

The same heartbeat script can either totally fail to fire or fire in parts seemingly at random depending only on the install (and yet the order of the install remains the same).

The .py file is compiling so it's not that (unless it's compiling incorrectly).

I don't think it's a background application as I've turned everything off and tested it and got the same results.

About to start kicking my PC around the room as I've been messing about with this for the past three days.

It's not something introduced to the .dll in patch 5 as it occurs with the .dll for patch 4 too.

Auto-save is off and quick save has not been used.

The issue is not related to not deleting an existing .pyc or not trying a new script without entering the map in question afresh.

Any suggestions which I may have overlooked?

    edit:

Thanks to Blue the problem seems to be narrowing down to the mss32.dll and/or the msvcr79.dll Which are dlls to do with sound and runtime respectively

Goodness knows what's going on though :)
