    After some use I always end up getting this error message, and I can't seem to get rid of it, though it doesn't seem to matter....

    0004: Error: One of the game folders can't be accessed! Make sure that no other application uses any of the game folders, then try again.

    I just hit "OK" and then everthing works fine.

    Is this just a quirk? I don't have any windows open.

    it could be a program that's looking in the folders for a temp file that you just were working on - I get it sometimes when I leave photoshop open.

    Well I always get it... no matter what I run or don't run.
    I'm glad that the newest version of front-end launches
    even when it displays the errors.

    Okay, glad to know that is just a quirk.

    It is crazy useful, so a little quirk or two is no problem.

    Usually 0004 and sometimes 0002 error message starts appearing after some scanning program interferes badly with the front-end's folder changing process. Usually it's caused either by an antivirus or an anti-spyware program that acquires the ultimate right to manage certain files which are required to be free for ToEEFE's use. In case something goes seriously wrong, the error may become "permanent" and you can keep getting 0004/0002 even after you restart the front-end. It's extremely hard to make this process entirely non-problematic, given the nature of the front-end (it's a program that needs to change things around in the game), if I ever think of a decent workaround I'll definitely implement it. What makes it even harder is that I've never actually experienced these errors personally, so it's quite hard to track what exactly goes wrong.

    Of course, it also could be what Cujo said - some other program might have some file open within one of the game's folders, and that prevents ToEEFE from moving things around. Once again, this can't be 'fixed' because it's not exactly a bug - ToEEFE needs complete control over the ToEE folder structure (because in order to switch mods, you actually need to move files and folders around since ToEE doesn't have innate multi-module support, and just throwing in the half-implemented -mod switch doesn't do the job entirely).

    As I said, personally I never got any of these errors, but I always keep all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs disabled when I start and play games - maybe that's the reason why. Some people have reported these problems though, and to tell the truth I'm not exactly sure how to help in case it already happened. Normally though (if you have a clean ToEE installation) I'll just recommend to disable all scanning software (even passive one that may be resident in memory) and make sure that you don't have any ToEE-related files open (nothing accesses the ToEE's files and folders, per the warning message) when you play ToEE, if it's possible. If not, it's likely that you'll have to cope with those front-end warning messages which are usually non-fatal and can be ignored. If, however, you consciously lock some file in the folder (say, open Notepad and open some dlg in there from the ToEE folder, then try running ToEEFE), you risk corrupting your game installation. Usually ToEEFE will try to do its best NOT to corrupt the game (it takes a lot of precautions actually), but you never know what can happen.

    Okay, cool.

    I am not running any anti-spyware or anti-virus software, so I know that isn't the problem. I made a back-up copy of everything, and that version doesn't have the problem. If I move my Tutorial mod to the back-up copy then it all runs perfectly without the error.

    Anyway, it doesn't matter. I just made a "mod" version of the entire TOEE folder including the world builder and all modding tools and just use that. Then I can always just make another copy move the mod files and the problem goes away. I always maintain a clean TOEE folder that doesn't have the error so that I can copy it and start fresh.

    No big deal. As with all things I back up as much as possible just in case.

    What is happening is this. I will attempt to open up ToEEFE, a window will appear with the heading: TEMPLEFRONTEND.EXE FATAL ERROR

    clr error 80004005
    the program will now terminate

    I have had Co8 5.0.0 installed and working on this computer before. Any help?

    Just want to add an error here:

    When using the Front End to change PC/NPC party amounts, it will not change beyond a 3/5 ratio anymore. This can only be done by going into the ini file and changing the 3 to a 1 (Thanks to HeJason for finding this out), though this creates an error it does not cause any problems. It would be nice to be able to change to 1/7 once again like the old Front Ends allowed.

    @ xraygord: This is pretty weird, I've never heard of this happening with .NET 2.0 installed. Do you have any other versions of .NET installed? This error usually only happens if the front-end is launched through an unsupported (=old) .NET runtime, like 1.1 or something, and should never happen if a release version of .NET 2.0 is installed. Make sure you have a release and not a beta of .NET 2.0 (there was a beta floating around for quite a while before they got a release). As an extra suggestion, try uninstalling all .NET revisions you have and reinstalling .NET 2.0 from scratch. Since you said you got it working before, maybe it's just that your .NET installation went FUBAR for some reason (well, it happens sometimes). Once again, if that's the case, try reinstalling .NET 2.0 from scratch and see if it helps.

    @ Sapper_Astro: If you mean the 1 PC + 7 NPC combo then yes, it was changed at a certain moment of time (can't remember when exactly) deliberately because there seemed to be some code that could have caused problems if the PC pool is set to anything lower than 3. I can't remember what the problems could be, but I recall this decision was made after a thorough discussion with Dulcaoin (the then-active creator of the PC/NPC count changer and a long-time contributor to the WB and FE utilities) and Steve Moret, so I guess it must have been well-grounded. Of course, re-enabling the old functionality is very easy and can be done pretty soon, I'd like someone to confirm that running 1/7 doesn't cause any extra trouble (crashes, save corruption, whatever).

    Thanks Agetian, it would be great if someone could confirm what the problem is. HeJason just finished the game with said 1/7 distribution in the "I killed Cuthbert!" thread.

    http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5598

    Of course, that doesn't rule out problems that MIGHT have popped up under different playthroughs...

    I just did a 3.0.4 game with the patch counter set to 2/6 and had no problems. If you set it to 1/7, you get a caution warning that it maybe unstable and cause problems. The few times I used 1/7 worked okay in a patch2 or 3.0.4 game. Can't say for 5 series games, with frontend and all. 1/7 isn't a real good idea anyway for a number of reasons. A lot of the npc's have poor stats and aren't very effective. Good quality pc's with good stats is the way to go.

    If I was a newb, I would totally agree with you. However, I am ready to test myself on the backs of morons this time around, and the ball that HeJason had playing through the game has inspired me further:rock:

    I've got a floppy somewhere that has custom 3.0.4 protos and dlg files on it so I could use the farmer's wife(Gwyneth?) and the widow Mathilde. Wizard and fighter, I think, and they did real well. I call them the Hommlet gang. Nothing uber, just decent stats and available equipment. They did good thru level 4. I don't play the nodes or to endgame anymore. After 3 years of playing I've seen and done most everything, but 1/7 will work out okay.

    Aby włączyć debugowanie w trybie JIT (just-in-time), plik .config tej

    wartość jitDebugging ustawioną w sekcji system.windows.forms.
    Aplikacja musi być również skompilowana z włączonym

    Na przykład:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    Gdy debugowanie JIT jest włączone, wszystkie nieobsługiwane wyjątki
    są wysyłane do debugera JIT zarejestrowanego na komputerze
    i nie są obsługiwane w tym oknie dialogowym.

    Any idea what's going on?
