Thanks to ShiningTed and the crew behind KOTB. I enjoyed this conversion and added rules to TOEE. I honestly haven't played a D&D game in many years (more like over a decade). I think Baldurs Gate 2 was the last one. Anyway, I'm kind of near the end and 2 things kind of bug me (maybe its a bug?):

    1) I killed the Hobgoblin King already but I'd like to have the random Samurai encounter. Is it possible to enable it with the console? If so, which flags?

    2) I did everything right I think but I can't meet the Castellan to negotiate the trade route with the Thorp. The first time I was let into the keep with the Guild Letter and the Captains signature on the back, I was next to the dwarf captain Durak and when I tried to talk to him he demanded to escort me out of the keep. But somehow I was "teleported" inside the Tower of the Evil Wizard (which i didn't know about at the time). I kept playing the game and traveled back to the keep etc but was never invited to meet the Castellan.

So my question is, can one meet the Castellan and secure a trade route? If so, how does one do it once you are inside the Keep Grounds? I tried to find the answers in the forum without success. Thanks for the help!

Glad you liked it :) I'll need a bit of time to figure this out and get back to you.

Thanks Ted! Yes, I can only reiterate my appreciation to people who develop something fun and massive like this and then give it away for other fans to enjoy. Cheers to you guys! I'll buy you a round in the KOTB tavern ;)

@Shiningted is the version of KotB on moddb the most recent or is there a patch I would have to download? Also, did you add those mods by @Badsirbrian or would I need to download them separately?

    Yes.

(Yes the moddb one is the most up to date - huge changes since then, but nothing I can post until its finished because its so all-or-nothing - and yes BadSirBrian's stuff needs to be added seperately).
I'd happy drink with you until I can catch Fanny's eye.

Ok, @ShogunKid , to make the ambush happen, enter this in the console:

    game.encounter_queue.append(3013)

That causes it to be set up for an upcoming random encounter (generally the next one) like 'Thrommel's Reward' and such things.

Pity you missed the Hobgob Chief's dialogue, that's easily some of the best stuff I have written. I failed to get it myself on my last play-through, there are a few issues there if you don't do things a very specific way.

Thanks ShiningTed! I'll try the code.

So I pulled up an old save just to test the weird thing I mentioned with the Trade Quest. At the Thorp Axer says I need to mention his name to get the Castellan to negotiate.

I have the letter from the Guild and I got the signature on the back from the Keeps Bailiff. When I talk to Brennan at the gate my dialogue option is "I need to talk to Castellan about a trade agreement. I come recommended by the Guildmaster and Lord Axer." Then Brennan responds

"Come this way, I'll see that the Castellan is notified." -- then I'm in the parade ground circle next to Durak with no clue what to do next.
If I go into the main Keep the Castellan isnt in the main hall and his Advisor won't talk to me. If I talk with Durak in the parade ground I'm escorted out by him but then get teleported into the Mad Wizard tower (which isn't discovered on my map yet.)

I'm not really concerned about the teleport, saves me from finding it. :) BUT I'm wondering why I can't talk to the Castellan and finish the negotiation?? Is it not possible? Thanks ShiningTed for being so responsive!

So the console code worked like a charm, thanks ShiningTed! I liked how they use the enlarge spell on the Samurais, nice touch!

So about my other question, is it possible to negotiate with the Castellan?

Now that's timing... so I went through this last night, and here is my findings: (rattles papers, adjusts glasses)

    - the teleport thing is definitely a bug, now fixed (you got sent to map 5130 instead of 5030, so a typo there)

    - you can't complete this quest, which is to say, you complete it by speaking to the Master of the Guild, and stating your case, and if you don't stuff it up completely (in which case it will be botched) he says he won't go against the Castellan, but will reconsider if you can get the Castellan on board. You then go back to Lord Axer and tell him and he is fine with this outcome and gives you a reward - you have not actually achieved the trade route but you have furthered Axer's cause and he is fine doing things incrementally. You 'can't' complete it in the sense you never actually speak to the Castellan about it.

    - some good news. The "I have a letter signed by the Bailiff" is an entirely unrelated thing, but you can still do that. It's the 'Who's Raiding the Trading?' quest. It starts with the Guildmaster, then the Bailiff, then the Captain of the Watch, and so on. You've spoken to the Bailiff if you have the signed letter, so try the Captain and go from there. It's a good'un, though very difficult to finish. Check your 'Ink Quill and Parchment' set and the quest in the logbook for further hints etc.
