    Here are some basic questions I'd like each of you to answer about the first phase of testing (level 1 - 10):

    1. Did you suffer any significant delays in changing maps, specifically when arriving at Hommlet exterior (either from the world map or from a Hommlet interior location)?
    2. Did you suffer any jerkstop in Hommlet?
    3. Did framerates seem to be at all low (or lessened) on the Hommlet exterior map when moving around?

    Allllllllllrighty then, my party has finally reached level 10.
    Here is the progression up to level 10.

    Level 1 ... Start.
    Level 2 ... Welkwood Bog Final fight, (after). Cleared out spiders before bog.
    Level 3 ... Moathouse 2nd level after jailed zombies, (went down the stairs in the main room).
    Level 4 ... Moathouse final fight with Lareth including the called spiders.
    Level 5 ... After assassin ambush, Imeryd's Run & Waterside Hostel, (whooped up the den of thieves)
    Level 6 ... HB halve cleared, (just the outside and no minator).
    Level 7 ... Smigmul and two rounds of AoH
    Level 8 ... HB 100% including Minator and 1/2 of Temple first level, (resued orcs, girls and sailor)
    Level 9 ... Big fight with Air Temple, (reactive temple after thump'n the earth losers) I came down the middle stairs right into the fight. I had not done the third phase of AoH.
    Level 10 ... The third phase of AoH and The Season of the Witch after the fight with the drow captors.

    Side note; My NPC (Tickle me) Elmo gained a level after the fight with the room full of bugbears on the third level under the moathouse and another level after the assassin ambush.
    Elmo gained another level upon completing the outside area of HB.
    Elmo gained another level after killing Falrith.
    Elmo gained another level after the re-active water temple and the fire temple.

    I have no idea what triggered the moat-house re-spawn to work, but I checked it again going in from the cave entrance, (ambush site) and the creatures were present in the room where you encounter Lareth. There were no other re-spawn creatures in the Moat-house area ie boars, skeleten gnolls and such.

    I've had absolutely no load time issues since re-activating before this run, actually the load times seem a little quicker. It still takes a bit longer for the Hommlet map to load if the time of day is different then when you went in, example; enter the inn in the day time, exited at night = delay. Entered in the day time exited in the day time = no delay.
    It would make since the same map would load faster. ;)

    I had no jerk stop anywhere, including Hommlet and surprisingly the fire temple was very smooth. ;)

    1. No, except on what sirchet pointed out about the common day and night transitions
    2. Never.
    3. It seems to be normal.

    Feedback on the latest bugfix, No more nulb related dialog from Mickey (but hey! why is my response pertains to the brew house while i'm in wwi, I think my party leader is having too much ale :)), no more duplicate Armario and Brother Smyth and finally no more strange door in the moathouse courtyard - thieve's tools is in it's proper place. In short the latest bugfix totally works, Thanks Gaear.

    OFFTOPIC(@sirchet sorry but no more knock2 games for you. :p)

    Thanks, guys.

    Okay, here's what I'd like you to do next:

    1. Make a save right where you're at that you can go back to (if you don't already have one).
    2. Proceed to finish all Temple/Nodes content and let me know how you finish up (level, etc.).
    After this we'll likely go back to your save and go to Verbo instead, but I'd like to see where the current balance puts you at the end of the vanilla stuff. Right now I'm anticipating level 12 - 13, which is right where it used to be pre-CR reductions, oddly enough. I wonder why that is.

    Remember that the game doesn't end anymore when Zugg dies, so don't worry about that.

    *Note: This is for sirchet and emo only. Still waiting to hear from JU ...

    Sorry i had a busy weekend. i should be able to put in some hours tonight.

    As far as your 3 questions, i did notice some long hangs in Hommlett, leaving or entering buildings... fade to black, music continues to play, from a few seconds to close to a min. waiting for the game to "come back".

    Other times this does not occur. I cannot ascribe any particular conditions to it unfortunately... I have also seen this entering the safe-haven tower in the Moathouse. Maybe it is triggered by green (safe-resting) zones? I saw Sir Chet said he experienced similar lags when a time change occurred - that could be a possibility, but i did not notice the correlation myself. I have reported this stuff in my previous postings. I also had one CTD, i think that may have been from Spugnior's odd Spell Permancy tab issue.

    That's all i have to report concerning your 3 questions.

    OK, i defeated all of Hickory Branch. Defeated the entire map without leaving - so i had to prepare plenty of scrolls, and had conserved all my potions collected beforehand. Basically, Spugnior now has the same EXP as everyone else from scribing scrolls. I started Hickory Branch while LVL 6 for my party, and no-one leveled during the course of the expedition.

    UH.... i have something very strange and unique (for ME at least) to report. While undertaking slaying the Fiendish Minotaur, i happened to summon the Lamia (from the "child's toy" figurine). She proceeded to use all her turns oddly enough to try and charm the Minotaur. The Minotaur spent 5 turns hacking at her, while i continued to hack at him .. and then she actually SUCCEEDED. Uh.... so i have a Fiendish Minotaur right now for a pet. I figured i'd go off to the Orc Cave and rest, and then engage him from there ... but oddly enough, resting did not "time out" the charm spell ... nor did moving to Hommlett. Has anyone managed to charm that dude before? I can't imagine i'm the first to do so, but i can't recall ever seeing it on the boards here either.

    And i certainly did not intend to have this happen. :) but it makes me wonder if even Iuz would be shaking in his boots facing my party with the friggin' MINOTAUR on a leash!!!!! LOL

    I assume i will be asked to resume combat with him?? Please advise! Thanks

    As you can see, while there was a reduction of more than 6,000XP earned in MR, HB and AoH, it was balanced out in the other playthrough by earning less XP in the vanilla encounters, so "in the end" the difference was only about 2,000 XP.

    Also, you still hit the Temple at level 8, compared to vanilla's 5.

    Awesome reports there, Sitra Achara.

    I think all of this comes down to the order that people attempt these things. I have never tried going to Hickory Branch before this testing until i have hit level 8, and i usually save Arena of Heroes and Moathouse Respawned until level 9 or so ... It's a lot easier to tackle portions of the temple and retreat, sell loot, heal up... and then take on the new content stuff once the party has attained higher levels. Most of the tougher NC mobs are much tougher than anything the temple has to throw at you until you are DEEEEEP into the temple. They are also laid out more intelligently, to react to "standard" strategies. i.e. for example the orc archers ranged along the ravine, where they can hammer you with arrows if you don't know they are there and have not scouted ahead. If YOU circle them and approach from the north, they are easy to wipe out, as they don't leave their post.


    Usually i go to the temple at around level 5 after visiting Nulb, and take on what i can, clearing it out, until i get to level 8 or 9. THEN i do the new content stuff...

    I must admit, i have made alot of slow going in this testing because i have felt severely under-leveled for most every major battle... seeing how i am currently about 1 or 2 levels lower than i would normally play these challenges in my previous playthroughs ... Though some fights have been less troublesome than others.

    Interesting ... so it's basically pointless to reduce CRs?

    One thing to note is that our results here incude the original CRs for the MR drow (which players have often felt were high to begin with anyway even though they're RAW AFAIK*).

    Did the pre-proto-overhaul vanilla experience end at levl 13 as well? I thought the vanilla game was designed to top out around level 10.

    *I take that back - I discovered some of them were still inflated by 1 somehow when I went through them here just the other day.

    I don't know if it's completely pointless - it probably does delay the crafting of +3 holy shocking frosting flaming axiomatic weapons.

    I remember testing vanilla back in the day. Here it is:

    The results show that you can get to level 10 by the end of the Temple, and 11 with the nodes. Although, it's tested with a party of 7, so probably a bit higher for a party of 5 (assuming no level cap of course).

    I'm not a math guy, so can anyone explain this phenomenon mathematically? It seems to me like 2 + 2 = 4, but sometimes 2 + 6 also = 4. ;)

    Anyway, got any suggestions as to how to soften the NC XP bulge, or are we left with moving it all to post-Zugg? I think evening it all out is imperative in the very big picture, as that's the remaining large issue with the modpack (Temple becomes too easy, etc.).

    I kind of like the quests where they are, but if they were moved post-Zuggtmoy, how would that be implemented? instead of Brother Smyth, would the jobs be made available in Verbobonc?? would the difficulty be increased??
