Okay folks, here it is. Random random encounter maps for your enjoyment. It took some time, and I had to use global_vars[693] so I could get the right enemy lists for the right maps (I hope no one is using that one). This eliminates the need for my Swamp Lotus fix, since random encounters will randomly be on 1 of 6 maps, one of which is the swamp. Unfortunately, it will make that quest easier, but that can't be helped. "1 of 6 maps," you say, "I thought you said there were 8 random encounter maps!" Well, there are 8 maps, and I know some of you are hoping I left out the river maps, but thats not the case. I left in the two river maps, and left out two others that are missing some sector information (impassible markers). Until I or somebody else fixes them, they won't be incorporated into this fix. I didn't tweak the enemy lists yet, but I think you will be suprised by some of the enemies the game generates now. They were in the lists all the time, the game just didn't use them for some reason.

As before, just point your favorite unzipping application at your ToEE/data directory and unzip. Feedback is alway welcome. Enjoy.

EDIT: The original download was not compatable with ShiningTed's mod. That has been fixed. Please redownload

EDIT: The patch no longer uses a global variable. Please redownload.

Well, I love this whole idea, but I gotta say:
Sorry dude, but thats straight from the guide for Desperate Housewives, variable 699 is taken. Variable 693 is wide open, and I can pencil it in if you like

Speaking of which, why is it that Troika could do a pretty good job with water in the Moathouse exterior map and in Nulb, and then make those corny-ass rivers like on the dreaded river road and in Hommlet? I don't get it.

Sorry about that. I've changed it to 693. Please redownload. I am trying to work on a way to not use a global.

I know it's been suggest before, but It would be so helpful if we had one stickied thread for declarations of variables, flags, protos ids and what not. I just didn't do enough research, but soon it is going to be too difficult to go through all the release notes for all the mods.

Okay, I fixed it so it no longer uses a global variable. Please redownload from the link above.

    the Cure Amii quest

I talked with the woodcutter; I asked him about his family and talked with Jaroo...bla-blah-bla. I had my party visit the Cuth church and lifted all of their scrolls. I attempted to have my 4th level cleric cast heal on Amii using the heal scroll. Nope, it doesn't work. I lost count making I don't know how many trips to get a Swamp Map. I spent about 45 minutes on it; I could not even get the Swamp Map.

In my frustration, I finally opened the console and used GIVE 12900 to get the quest over and done with. It worked. It put the Swamp Lotus in the inventory of my party leader. I had my party leader talk with Jaroo. He made a powder and cured Amii.

Having said that, much later in the game [probably after the quest time limit], I got the Swamp Map for a random encounter. After killing the monsters, I had a Rogue walk around the center and peripheri of the Swamp Map. The Rogue found it. It is obvious on top of the water; you do not have to search using the radial menu. If you count clockwise from 1 to 12 where 1 is due North, 4 is due East, 7 is due South, and 10 is due west, the plant was between 10 and 11, left-of-center - closer to the map edge than the center of the map.

I hate to point this out, 'cause it has nothing to do with anything but your directions...but most folks have clocks with 12 at the top, 6 at the bottom, 3 on the right, and 9 on the left. 12 is always north, 6 south etc. Then, you can just say you are at 6 o'clock in relation to the person being addressed, or tell them to move 50 yards to their 11 o'clock, etc. Kinda like fighter pilots or tactical team members do. Your directions are sort of an hour ahead from what most people are used to...

A little like daylight savings time...!
