Greetings! I have wanted to enjoy ToEE, but there are some minor things bothering me. I have split my concerns into three parts for easy access.

    SUGGESTIONS
    1. In point buy, change the chart to read "15 or 16" as 2 points and "17 or 18" as 3.
    2. In the load screen, allow doubleclicking a save to load that save. In the save screen, allow doubleclicking a save to save in that slot and prompt for overwriting as normal.
    3. Whenever there is a dialog box with a green button and red button, have ESC trigger the red button and enter trigger the green.
    4. While in Nulb or Hommlet and not in combat, increase character speed by 50'.
    5. Change the ingame menu text of "Quit Game" to "Return to Menu."
    6. If possible, add an EDIT button in the party assembly screen with the 5 slots that brings up the character on the Voice/Name tab with all other tabs already filled in.
    7. On the party assembly screen, allow VIEWing and RENAMEing characters placed in the party.
    8. Include more voice sets, including the NPC sets, and tell us how to implement custom ones.
    9. Add the options of partial base attack bonus and base saves stacking as well as max HP per hit die.
    10. Change "Spells Memorized" to "Spells Prepared."
    11. I urge you to change defensive casting so spells are only cast defensively when the caster is threatened.
    12. Since class requirements for primary casters of at least 11 in the spellcasting stat exist, prestige classes are theoretically possible. I would like to see the Eldritch Knight implemented using the Paladin class slot if necessary. Merely check for Martial Weapon Proficiency (All) as well as Wizard5 with at least 13 INT, Sorcerer6 with at least 13 CHA, Bard7 with at least 16 base + level CHA or Bard with at least 13 CHA.
    13. Make shift-right click sell an item.
    14. Include enemy casters in random battles, even if they are level 1 or 2. I want my counterspelling to be useful for more than 2 fights in the game.
    15. Move more Hommlet citizens outside during daylight hours. I wonder where everyone is.
    16. These feats seem feasible to include and also seem balanced to me. You can find more at the Crystal Keep.
      • Energy Admixture {METAMAGIC}: Any spell with the energy descriptor does normal damage plus the same amount of damage of any other element. A fiery acidball would do 10d6 fire and 10d6 acid at level level 13. This feat requires a slot 4 levels higher and requires energy substitution of the appropriate element.
      • Energy Substitution {METAMAGIC}: Any spell with an energy descriptor can be changed to a fire, cold, electric, or acidic version. Applying this feat does not change the spell level and it requires only one metamagic feat.
    PROBLEMS
    1. Selecting "Move" from the radial menu after taking a 5 foot step in a turn spans "Already Moved" above the unit's head until he finishes his next turn.
    2. Picking a weapon proficiency feat, exotic or not, at character creation does not give the character that weapon like it did in ToEE with Co8 2.0.
    3. Enlarge person does not grant reach.
    4. Using sleep on creatures with at least 5 HD does not work and displays no message.
    5. Casting sleep takes one standard action when it should take one full round. See here.
    6. Using a hotkey to order reloading does not work, even when selecting it from the radial menu does.
    7. Using the arrow keys on the save and load screens should not move the background map as well.
    8. When creating a Wizard, he starts with 2+INT bonus spells instead of 3+INT bonus.
    9. When a hostile creature and a party member are on the same initiative, every being after the first has no action because the game thought that being went already. This may apply as well to multiple party members or multiple hostile beings on the same initiative.
    10. Often, rightclicking a spell on a spell list does not move it into a free slot of that level. For example, if I am an 18 INT Wizard who goes from level 1 to 2, I gain a level 1 slot. When I rightclick to insert magic missile there, often the spell does not appear on the right, though moving it manually works.
    11. The Take All button will not work if a character's inventory is full but has ammunition or other stackable items that would normally stack; instead, nothing is transferred. Stackable items can still be transferred manually.
    12. When the Take All button is pushed on a character whose inventory is full and with coins as the only loot, the full inventory error message still shows; however, the coins are transferred.
    13. Having a character go from negative to positive HP because of rest displays Invalid Action upon rewakening.
    14. Subdual damage only heals when resting instead of through time's elapsing.
    15. Resting for less than 8 hours at a time but with rest periods summing to at least 8 do not restore spells; for example, resting 5 hours then 5 hours restores no spells.
    16. Switching weapon tabs as the first action after one's turn prevents that character from casting spells of 1 standard action casting time; however, it does not prevent single attacking.
    17. Creatures can or will not use their 5' step.
    18. Using the number keys to select dialog options when the whole party is selected should not alter the character who talks to the NPC.
    19. Characters in the chaotic neutral starter dungeon can not rest to regain spells, only pass time.
    QUESTIONS
    1. Should a party that has been knocked out from nonlethal damage be treated as game over material?
    2. Should disabled creatures run? Currently, they continue their moving, mostly advancing, and attacking, despite having 0HP.
    3. Should giant crayfish attack random targets? I have noticed them change targets every round if a full attack action is impossible.

Everything seems to have gone terribly quiet here... has the latest patch fallen through the cracks?

And you guys were working quite hard to get it out too... seems such a waste :(

Take a look around the forums and you'll see that things are rolling along quite well here, albeit in different areas.

You're right about any official Co8 Patch 4.0.0 though; I don't see that happening anymore. Co8 has become more of an indie franchise operation. And with people slipping out the back door unannounced (see some longtime posters earlier in this thread), it's tough to maintain a steady foundation to build on. A shame, really.

Also some of our mods are a little "off topic" so to speak and I don't think that they should be in an "offical" patch, unless of course that most people qant them in there.

Liv's mod contains a lot of fixes that greatly improve the game. It also contains expanded content that I feel also improve the game. It, plus moebius2778's temple.dll, Drifters patches, Allyx's Con fixed protos.tab and Darmagon's new spells have almost become the defacto Co8 3.05 patch. These are certainly the foundation all the current modders are building off of. However, I can see how some might argue the expanded content these mods contain should not be part of an official patch. There is also the fact that Liv's mod is still in beta release, i.e. it still contains bugs, and we have not yet given up hope that v2.0 is on the horizon. Both of these reasons, plus the fact that most of the current crop of modders appear to feel that they are walking in the footsteps of giants, have resulted in the delay, or possibly the demise, of C08 3.05.

At least, that's my take on the whole thing. Feel free to disagree.

What is "offical" about Co8? I'm not real sure just who and what Co8 is, let alone know what it takes to be an offical mod or change. Is Co8 offically recognized by Atari? There is a lot of independent modding going on but what rules or guidelines are there to be "acceptable" for Co8? It would be nice to have one central/main download instead of x# of zips. An all inclusive Co8/3x/4x/ would be a good thing.

Thanks wizgeorge. That is a sentiment I was hoping someone would express, and one that I feel myself. From reading past threads, it would appear that the members her at Co8 are Co8. We decide when it is time for a new Co8 patch. I think that time is now. Let's take the old patch and roll it all together with all the new stuff that the current crop of modders are building off of and make it a new patch. Let's include Allyx's shop map (though I would like to see some changes to it - I'll post that in the the thread you can download it from), and ToeeFE. The only difficulty I see in doing this is that the current Keeper of the Patch (Morpheus, I believe) seems to be MIA.

Morpheus is on announced leave due to real life obligations, but the point remains that Co8 has to be made up of some kind of consensus-building body among its members. For example, it would be inapproapriate for me to compile a bunch of old and new mod elements at my sole discretion and upload it here as Co8 4.0.0. But it's difficult to build consensus, being as we're ultimately just a bunch of disjointed people scattered across the globe who have nothing to do with each other beyond liking to play and/or mod ToEE.

In the old days, I must say, the members of the forum seemed to work more cohesively toward common goals. But an intelligent project like that can't happen without someone (or ones) at the helm. This role used to be filled by zhuge, who suddenly and without explanation disappeared from the forums, then more recently Morpheus. But understandably, people can't devote 40 hour full-time-job weeks of work to Co8, so ultimately nothing happens. That's where we're at now, and where we have been for some time.

C-Blue, your initiative in the above post is admirable, but I've found that that sort of thing usually falls on deaf ears. Who's most knowledgeable about the Co8 state of affairs in toto right now? Morpheus. Who's in possession of the installer / version control package? Morpheus. That being the case, there's not much point in any of us "deciding" to do anything right now. Maybe when Morph comes back we can petition him to start something. Until then, modders keep modding, players keep playing, and posters keep posting. Co8 stays alive and healthy when all three of those things are happening concurrently, with as many committed participants as possible.

I realize that all of the people involved in Co8 are part-time volunteers and have real-life obligations. It seems that there is no firm organization or plan here. It appears everyone is doing their own thing, when they have the time and desire to do so. It's a side-job/hobby with no firm structure. It's almost chaotic evil in nature! But, it's understanable because people have real lives and can't dedicate all there time to a certain project. It's just the nature of the business I guess. I like playing this game, but it's just about ran it's course with me. If and when there is substantial, bug-free content added and it plays well, great. I'm sorry, but x# zips and mods has just turned me off. I've got the .dlg/protos files and the console pretty well figured out so when I do play I can play "my game" when I feel like it. I thank Co8 for that.

My beliefs are similar to that of the Wiz. I like the game, and love Greyhawk; thus, my interest here. But I'm not really playing right now due to my lack of desire to fool around with varying content until something comprehensive comes along. I'm sure that day will come, and I'm content to add my $.02 until it arrives. Everything old will be new again for me. I just hope that it will be in one big easy to apply patch.
