    re CTD/Water Node Bandits

The first time I encountered Grank's Bandits (pre Co8 patch), I seem to recall them casting a number of enhancement spells right off the bat. Could one of these spells be causing the crash?

    Just a thought.

I have to double check with other medium armors, but a dwarven barbarian wearing Lareth's breastplate has his movement reduced to 15. It should remain at 30. (Dwarves always retain their movement rate regardless of armor worn or load carried. Barbarians get +10 to movement when wearing medium or lighter armor.)

Also, ran into a weird bug where I helped Mona and Serena out and then went into the Snake Pit before speaking to Preston. Ophellia wanted my female Rogue to pay her 50 gold to sleep with Jenelda(sp?) because she suspects Jenelda is only into women but needs confirmation. I told her I didn't have the money and left. When I spoke to Preston, he told me he needs to get money from Ophellia, but she's broke. However, whenever I go back and talk to Ophellia all I can say to her is I'm working on the Jenelda problem. If I go talk to Jenelda she tells me I need to make an oppointment with her madam first. End result, can't finish the tooth of pain quest and buy a house in Nulb.

    Cleric Domain spells

I'm still not fully versed in v3.5 rules, but it seems to me my 5th level cleric is being shorted domain spells. All she gets is the one level one spell (magic weapon), but can cast 2nd and 3rd level "normal" spells. Is this a known bug, a rules misinterpretation, or what?

Never mind... You can all kick me now. I played for I dunno how many hours before, after posting this, I finally saw the domain spells tab in the spells window of the character sheet. Everything works fine. Sorry to trouble you.

    CTD/Water Node Bandits

I believe this is caused when one of the bandits tries to drink a potion of super heroism. The first pair of bandits you see as you cross the bridge, and the bandit nearest Grank, each have this potion. Send a rogue in to pick pocket them (they'll be the first item you take) and no more ctd.

The other bandits drink either bull strength or haste, but I didn't have any problems with those. (I'm using Co8 3.0.3)

I solved the bandits crash-to-desktop for myself by casting improved invisibility on my wizard and then using a beefed-up fireball in mid-camp. The bad guys mostly die (at least the buggie ones go bye-bye).

However, I have two other problems that presist both on my desktop PC and my laptop PC:

    1. There are locations in the temple where my PCs "freeze" - the level with the entrances to the nodes, earth node, fire node and water node locations. Bad thing is I can't even get the CTL+ALT+DEL to work, so it's hardboot. grrrh!

    2. There is a greathammer weapon in the game (Hedrack has one), but no weapon focus / specialization feat for this type of weapon. Since my fighter really likes this weapon, but can't use it to smash the baddies as well as with his greatsword, it makes me very, very unhappy.

Well, is anyone having the same problems as me?

    1. I think everyone has problems on that level. Are you wearing temple robes, by any chance? When I disrobed my party, quit and restarted the game, performance seemed to improve. Or perhaps the gremlins decided to give me a break...

I'd also suggest saving the game before entering and leaving that level (I had many CTD doing that). I've read that moving the screen using the keyboard cursors will help, as moving the on-screen cursor a large distance causes problems (particularly in the nodes).

In the nodes, I saved every 5 minutes, and when the game slowed down, quit and reloaded.

    2. The Great Hammer falls into the warhammer category, I believe.

    Silenced!

Hi, I'm grateful for all the work you guys have done on patches and to date I've been using patch 2 from atari but despite it saying its stopped all permanent spells two of my spellcasters are permanently silenced! I fought Romag in the earth temple and put up a silence circle around him. Problem was my cleric and druid ran into it and failed their saves. Left the temple, went to my house in nulb, created magic barbarian armour, went to hommlett, spoke to terjon, and burnie, cast dispel magic on myself twice with the mage and they are still silenced. ...is there anything that can be done?

    Silenced

    Try casting silence on them!

When it wears off it should clear the effect. I've not had this problem but this approach has work for me with other problems.

    CTD Water Bandits

As others have stated I also get the CTD during the first round of combat for the water node bandits.

Also the Kapoacinths? (water gargoyles) are completely incorrect for this map. Their 10/cold damage reduction should be fixable (10/magic as reg gargoyles) but the fact that they shouldn't fly and have a swim speed is probably an engine fix/animation fix which is probably beyond what even Steve Moret can do.

Hi, I have a few things to add I hope we can fix...

    1) Exotic weapon proficiency doesn't work anymore. I've tried it for bastard sword and for spike chain. I can clearly see my fighter has it, but it says she's still not proficient in the weapon and seems to be getting a -4 penalty.

    2) Weapon focus (Ray) does nothing. I have ray of frost, scorching ray, and ray of enfeeblement, and my sorceress doesn't get a +1 to hit.

    3) I can find weapon specialization (halberd) and improved critical (halberd) but no weapon focus (halberd). Any idea why this is? Is it counting as some other type of weapon?

    4) Sometimes enemies will charge me (I think it's a charge -- it's certainly the first attack) and use an unarmed attack. What's more, they will deal subdual damage since they aren't proficient with the attack. This only happens on the first attack; after that, it fixes it. It happens to us with the Juggernaut and a bugbear chieftan in the water temple.

    5) Not really a bug, but a request. I love cutlasses! They look so cool. But there's no feat for weapon focus, specialization, etc. Also, I can't buy a masterwork one at the smith with the patch, even though I'd like to. Could you consider allowing the smith to sell them? Also, does anybody know what weapon focus you have to take for it to count as a cutlass?

Thanks so much for all your work on this patch! IMHO we really need #1 fixed though, it's a real killjoy after you blow a feat on it.

1)Try redownloading temple.zip. Moebius is aware of the issue, has clarified that the bug was due to an oversight when he was fixing Martial Weapon Proficiencies and appears to have corrected the bug in a recent version (the readme is dated 26/10/04). So get the newest files from http://www.jadri.com/temple.zip and confirm with us if the bug is still there or it has been resolved successfully.

2)Weapon Focus Ray is a known bug. Not very sure whether it is correctable as you are now applying the bonus to spells rather than weapons. I suspect the code needed may be a bit different.

3)The Halberd (a generic non-reach, 1d10 weapon) is not in the game. In their place, Troika implemented many reach weapons like the glaive, guisarme and ranseur which are basically halberd variants but with reach. It's probably possible to include as I tried with sickle... assuming the code for weapon focus and specialization was written correctly and is functional. You just need to include a separate item in protos.tab, give it some new graphics, put weapon type as halberd and see if the engine recognizes it.

4)Not sure... Does this happen consistently? Haven't really noticed it in my games. Probably a strategy.tab tweak might be needed, if true.

5)My memory is a bit vague on it, but I think cutlasses were coded as rapiers and are also treated as such (piercing damage instead of more logical slashing damage). In other words feats for rapier should apply to cutlass. Easily moddable to whatever damage you want it to be but it'd be tough trying to have a separate proficiency for it.
