I'd say that Ted's mod has to be a part of Co8 4.0.0, but possibly an optional part of it, which can either be installed or not installed by a certain switch in the installation package (e.g. make a switch called "Desperate Housewives" in the installer, and only install Ted's mod files if it's switched on). That way everyone will be happy. :)

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

    Okay people. Reality check time.

We are rehashing stuff that we talked over and decided weeks ago when I volunteered to work on this project. We have discussed the size issue. We have already discussed whether or not to include DH. I have heard from Morpheus. We have a hard deadline to get the release to him to get it put into an installer. That deadline is October 28th, just one week away (at least in my time zone). That means I have this weekend to work on it, since work and family obligations will give me precious little time to do anything on it during the week. If we miss this deadline, then the installer will have to wait until Morpheus is once again available to do it.

So this is the question I need answered before I spend yet another entire weekend working on this project: Are we going to get our collective asses in a row and release this now, or are we going to leave it it stuck in committee to rot. I have other projects lined up, ones which would give me far more pleasure to work on than release notes. So if I am wasting my time on this project, please let me know.

No need to get crotchedy Blue, but you're right, this has all been covered before. The time for anyone to object or debate things is past, so let's move on it. :point:

p/s - something we should all keep in mind is that the forums, and this thread in particular, function more like a clearinghouse than a boardroom. Its not always easy to know exactly what's going on at all times.

Let's get this baby out NOW! We can always add to the release later. If we try to include too much stuff, it will get delayed and delayed again and might never see the light of day.

Ok bluey, I was bieng more critical of ted's work than yours, but despite the slight repetitivenes, I enjoyed DH - Iolo's joy +3 holy comes in handy for a wizard (with point blank shot, precise shot, rapid reload, haste (or mass haste)) the orb of moons is a handy gadget too - although it get's scared when you enter combat!

Yeah the 'destroy obj' thing may need tinkering, he doesn't always wander off as he should (SHOULDN'T be there in combat!)

I am in Malaysia atm, so can't help too much :( Sorry. But probably there are some redundant files in my mod as umm Morpheus I think suggested, .pyc and such. I also wonder how many of the Co8 and Liv files were redundant in the first pace - it seems to contain everything under the sun in the scr and dlg folders, many of which simply haven't been altered and dno't have to be there.

I have finished the first draft of the Release Notes for Co8 4.0.0. You can download them from the link below. Look them over and let me know what you think. This format calls for the inclusion of the documentation for Playful NPCs and Desperate Housewives.I can accomodate minor changes, but a complete reworking is something I will not have time for. The deadline for submitting any suggestions for changes is October 26th, 11 pm PST.

*pending me figuring out how to attach them here*

Edit: Okay, it's on the FTP but I can't figure out how to link to it. Somebody else is either going to have to tell my how or do it for me.

Edit: I figured it out for myself. You can download the Word version here.

Edit: Okay, here is the .txt version that lacks all the nice formatting that I spent hours working on.

Did you mean to write this? Or just forgot to proof read?
In my recent fix (I fixed the ctd issue) I changed the item numbers for my robes/cloaks to fix the no dex bonus proplem - please update this.
    My new spells aren't listed.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

Can/will the release of Co8 patch 4.0 include the changes made by the Official Atari patches(1 & 2)? It would greatly simplify our installation situation if we didn't have to install three separate patches.

Thank you for your time and hard work. You guys rule!

Don't think anyone's got this project in mind, and I'm not sure that's a path we should head down anyway. First of all it would probably be a lot of work. Secondly, Atari and Co8 are two distinct entities that are in no way affiliated: they are a game publishing corporation that does not formally endorse third party mods for this game, and we are, um, a third party mod making fan community. Lastly, installing two or three patches is not a big deal. The purpose of this whole Co8 4.0.0 initiative is to get all of our worthwhile material into one mod, and that's service enough.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

I did proof read, but that one got past me. I would be very suprised if that is the only error.

As for your new stuff, I want to put it in, but the CTD thing last weekend has me a little skitish. Once it's been tested a bit more, I will add it if the rest of the community agrees. I do want to add at least the Hezrou Stench fix.

What say you all? Is Allyx's latest stuff in or out?

Quite a herculean effort there, Blue. Kudos!

A few comments based on my first run through:

Unfortunately, based on the last pulse I took from the Atari bug list some time ago, there are probably somewhere in the neighborhood of at least 300 unresolved bugs for ToEE, out of an original list of near 600. :suprised:

We may not want to list them all.

moebius actually fixed upwards of 30 bugs total in his .dll hack. I can list them for you if you like.

Looks like a superior job so far Blue. Good work!

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

Perhaps instead put them in a stickied thread here and then have the known bugs section in the release notes send people to that thread.
I knew there was more to it than that, I just didn't know what. Send me the list and I will put it in.

Yeah... I forgot about that. Well, it was just a thought, anyway.

I really do think that this is a great thing you guys are doing.
