I have a character who leveled in the following order:

    fighter
    paladin
    paladin
fighter (this order was to make possible great cleave at 4th)
    monk

Upon taking the monk level, he did not get a wisdom AC bonus, even when I remove very piece of equipment. Because I save before taking each level, I have been able to test taking that monk level under every circumstance I can imagine, but he never seems to get the monk AC. Do you need to start as a monk to get monk AC?

I am version 8 NC and I patched to 8.0.1 before starting.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

    More oddities:

Bugbear respawn: In the bugbear room across from Scorpp's hideout, a single bugbear respawns after clearing the room out the next time I come down the stairs. I also had this in 7.9.

Black hole in a chest: I put a hill giant rock I had "collected" in my chest in the Nulb home (the left one), whereupon it disappeared. The slot where the rock had disappeared then worked as a black hole: I could put other items around it, but as soon as I moved them in this one slot, they also disappeared for good.

No, but you need to be unarmored and unencumbered.

Agreed. Just tried it again to confirm the unencumbered. Wearing no equipment at all and taking everything out of inventory, though I can carry up to 100 pounds without being encumbered, still no monk Wis AC. I created a new monk and he gets the Wis AC without a problem. Just weird.

    - Two-weapon defense does not provide +2 to AC while fighting defensively as it is supposed to although it does so while using total defense.

The ToEE game guide/manual and feat description only gives +1 to AC for this feat, +2 when fighting defensively. It appears to be working according to the ToEE descriptions.

    - In one instance, Lareth failed to get spiders to his aid even after having summoned Lolth for help.

I've seen this happen when I retreat down the hallway and Lareth follows. Seems the spiders will only appear if Lareth is in the room full of guards or in his quarters.

    - Keoghtom's Ointment disappears in the extraplanar chest, probably because it is considered to be a charged item.

It will also disappear when you add the Golden Orb to your inventory, presumably destroyed because of the Orb's "poisen" characteristic.

Indeed. So that's how that works, good to know. My Spuggy has AC 66 by now, I see this more as a feature. :p

My manuals (paper and pdf versions) read :

"Benefit: When wielding two weapons (not including natural weapons or unarmed strikes), you gain a +1 shield bonus to your AC.

When you are fighting defensively or using the total defense action, this shield bonus increases to +2."

    d20 SRD reads :

"Benefit: When wielding a double weapon or two weapons (not including natural weapons or unarmed strikes), you gain a +1 shield bonus to your AC. See the Two-Weapon Fighting special attack.

When you are fighting defensively or using the total defense action, this shield bonus increases to +2. "

    In the game :

You do not appear to get +2 to AC when fighting defensively but you do get it when using total defense.

The Circlet of Persuasion description mentions a +2 competence bonus to Charisma-based checks but it really gives +3 as it should according to the d20 SRD.

Look in this thread for the corrected Scorching Ray/Wpn Focus: Ray spell issue. Or not, for those looking for a way to ditch the Gloves of DX.

Good catch. I failed to note the distinction between fighting defensively and total defense. My bad.

This actuallly started a few revisions back, but almost every time I encounter pirates or an ettin on the overland map, they're accompanied by a number of other creatures with whom they immediately pick a fight: the pirates are accompanied by their mortal enemies the brigands, and the ettin shows up with a handful of hobgoblins that he begins slaughtering straight away!

    What gives?

... and on a side note, why do the ettin's clubs glow as if they were magical weapons?

I've finished my playthrough of modpack 8.0.1 and completed most quests except for those involving the Scarlet Brotherhood (couldn't get Darlia to talk to me).

Here are my final observations :

    - I usually could get out of the Scather/Fragarach AoO lockdown by trying to use a potion from the inventory screen.
    - Although I was too late to save Lady Asherah after completing the Demons and Demigods quest, I still got to live happily ever after after having her raised from the dead.

I noticed that as long as you leave the merchant's scale in the same inventory slot forever, and equip the glasses directly to the head slot from the merchant, and never remove them, you can still have both working and stacking. Move them and the glasses disappear.

I've noticed that when you have greater invisibility cast a character the foes still do AoO like they can see her.

I tested this and it seems that all you have to do is summon the chest and save before patching. The items disappear if the chest is in your inventory but not summoned and visible on the screen. So, there's no need to empty the chest before patching.

Requires a Bluff score of something like 8, but the Diplomacy score must not be higher than 5 (or maybe 6, I forget), else the proper dialogue options with the Captain won't appear -- It seems the Diplomatic option (if Diplomacy score is too high) overpowers the Bluff option, even though the Bluff score is higher. Then have to choose the Bluff based dialogue option about "consulting with your deity" to later get the X-bow ("I pulled some strings") from Jinnerth. (If you choose the Diplomatic option with Captain Renton, then no X-bow reward from Jinnerth.) Or as sonofliberty posted above, just hire Elmo and take him with you.
