    Look at the column item flags, add "OIF_NO_NPC_PICKUP"

    Otherwise, it seems like adding "nothing" to NPC's share behavior flag doesn't work at all. Serena still keeps picking golds and others... Jesus!

    Thx for the effort, but all does not seem to be working right.

    Just started a new game, post patch/co8/shinfix. Joined up toruko and kobort (the monk and fighter in hommlet inn), and started on the moathouse. Killed frogs, entered tower, killed giant spider, opened chest. Kobort loots magic scrolls and potions!

    Continuing on, they kept on looting scrolls and potions. To top it off, Toruko decided to loot Lareal's staff of striking! I haven't checked the other npcs yet, but these two at least seem not to have been fixed by your patch.

    Staff of Lareth, done.

    Potions, done.

    I hadn't touched scrolls because I wanted Spugnoir to get hold on it. But it looks like scrolls should get the same treatment. Eh... :) I didn't notice that issue because I've been playing with Spugnoir all the time. :)

    edit : scrolls, done. as well as some wands... (too many for my poor fingers. :( )

    any chance

    I would love to place Shin's mods into my game...would it be possible for one of you to explain to a progamming novice exactly what he needs to do to install Shin's mods?

    Just a simple step by step from the moment of downloading the zip file.

    Would be greatly appreciated and probably not just by me.

    There's no programming involved.

    Install Co8's fix.

    copy my proto.tab file over the Co8 fix.

    You're done.

    However, the currently available version is... err, bugged. :D

    Here's some requests I have:

    Leave the holy longsword as a longsword but use a better graphic for it (like the fantasy sword - thouh make sure it doesn't crash other characters, like DWARVES). I'm not sure what you did with it so far as I haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

    Use the 1-H version of the Katana which is according to 3E rules, regardless of how 'unrealistic' it might be. We want the game to stick true to the rules and not our interpretation of those rules. The fact that it's a bastard sword means it'll be wielded in a two-handed style if you do not have Bastard Sword profieciency, so we get to see both animations for those with the proficiency and those without.

    You can keep sending me the file ( exitium@co8.org ) and I'll have it hosted at the CO8.

    Okay.

    To begin with, I never changed holy longsword +1 (+3) into a bastard sword...

    This model renders corectly with a male dwarf. no worries in it.

    Katana will be changed for public release version. (prior was.. kinda private one)

    I'll send you the "latest version" soon.

    yeah, that was me, and I did it only for my protos, any fixes i post will not include that mod. I did it as reward for my pali for reducing the +1(+3) to just +1

    What is the current state of play concerning the latest version of Shin's NPC looting fixes?

    There are so many people downright hacked off with NPCs that I would really like to give some details and post a link to it in my stickied Patch Info thread over on the Atari game forums, but before I can do that I really need:
    • A working up to date link to the latest version of the files
    • Some info on what it currently contains and "idiots guide" instructions on how to install it for complete computer illiterates
    • An OK from Shin to advertise his fixes on the Atari forum!

    I await a response with baited breath...

    ...incidentally, does anyone know where that term comes from, "baited breath". Kinda gives me the image of a fisherman who has been snacking on his own maggots, which hardly brings forth images of eager anticipation as the phrase is supposed to. *sigh* I think too much.

    BTW Rex Balde is making his own version based on my mod...

    Some days ago, I sent my latest build to Exitium (or some other member of Co8), hopely we might see my changes in the next Co8. :) I can send you this version if you want.

    If you want to sync multiple mods, you can try my toeepatch.pl stript. It allows multiple protos.tab mods to be merged into the same protos.tab. As long as they don't mess with the same item/line then conflicts don't occur.
