    How about Anom's mystic fortunes?

    Shop Name: Mystic Services
Proprietor: Anom, (Mona changed her name when she left Nulb) :p
Location: Any shop, preferably more to the back of the row
    Services Offered: Anom could give mystic advice on adventuring, such as;

    A. Tips and clues for What Lies Beneath.
    B. Guidance for starting and closing NC Quests.
    C. Give general solid advice for party builds, such as ... this one has seen many adventures end abruptly due to not inviting a cleric to join them.
    D. She could be a source for any other pertinent information the Co8 wants to get out to players.

A few thoughts for the lingerie shop.

    Lucious Lydia's Lingering Lingerie ....

    Bouncing Betty's Bodacious Bodices ...

    Sylkie's Slippery Silks ....

    And for the Alchemy Shop;

    Shop Name: The Alchemist

Proprietor: Paulo Coelho, (inside joke if you've read the book).

NICE sirchet! lol how about a play on words for the lingerie store ... like 'Lady Cassandra's Conundrum' (as in modeled on Victoria's Secret) ??? run by the Lady Cassandra herself, who creates all the designs of the lingerie ... and a few other ladies as salespeople in the shop. i'll go with sirchet's names of Lydia and Bettina - they ask you if you need to have any of the lingerie 'modeled' for the party.

for the Alchemist... 'The Melting Pot' or 'Golden Kettle & Beaker' ... ???

or how about 'Eye of Newt' with the gnome alchemist proprietor Newt O. Nisaac :)

Newton Isaac? just plain Newt? make him kinda strange and scatterbrained... a brilliant but weird little fellow.

with the Bail Bondsman keep it simple with 'Knoll Brothers' or 'A Dog's Bounty'

"Arrrr... we be runnin' down any scurvy dogs or random curs that be breakin' thar lawfully appoint'd court date, that's right."

And the alchemy shop could be run by two gnome brothers ... Kaytel and Beatger.

Btw, it seems I'm alone in reading The Alchemist.

No, the Alchemist was always going to be named Paulo.

Okay, now comes the time for all winners to write a brief bio of their NPC shop owner(s). This will be what the NPC says, one time, if you ask them to chit chat, so it should be written as if the NPC is talking to a PC. Have them say something about themselves that makes them seem two dimensional.

    Rules

    1. No quests.
    2. No plots.
    3. No fedexing.
    4. No skill checks.
    5. No multiple choice answers that require multiple dialogue nodes.
    6. Basically no anything other than "this is my brief story."
    7. Should fit in a line or two of dialogue. This means that you can have the player say "go on" and have the NPC continue his bio in a second line of dialogue one time if you want.
    8. Never have the NPC address a group. This is because some people play solo, and while you can address an individual within a group, you can never address a group when there is only one person and have it not come off as wrong.

Here is an example of the maximum length for a single line of dialogue. Please do not exceed this.

Go forth and write! There is no need for secret PMs to me with your dialogue files or anything like that, just post them right here.

Veenah's response to "Tell me a little about yourself":

Me? Oh dear, I've lived in Verbobonc my whole life. When my mother died, I inherited the business and changed the name. Perhaps I'll get to meet my father some day, if he ever comes this way again.

    Cyn's response
I love natural products, the wilder the better! As a young girl I was always out alone in the woods. I'm an only child, so my fantasy had lots of space to develop. By watching the creatures, I came to love natural products too, whether its spider silk, sooo sensous against the skin, or latex from the rubber trees. But most of all I love leather, the tickle of the whip, such bliss!

    Seven Elven response,

Well, we are all brothers and sisters. The girls were always shy, so they make boots and gloves and cloaks. Things that conceal and silence. They alway won at Hide and Seek! The boisterous boys learned great dexterity and make chainmail armour, shields, elven bows and swords. All our gear has been perfected over many, many years and we guarantee your complete satisfaction with our poducts.

You said that these NPC'S are male, I thought a mix would fit this intro better. I hope its not too difficult to change things. If it is, the females could be in the back room out of sight, i.e. not there, they are sneakier after all! Leaving the males to run the shop.

Hero/Villain: So Anom, tell me a little more about yourself.

Anom: You want to know more about old Anom, do you? Never will I understand young folks and their ever persistent quests to know that which they shouldn't.

    Very well then ...

Anom is but a simple soul, burdened with glimpses of events that have passed and are yet to pass.

Stroking a shining white orb Anom locks you with her gaze ... there is nothing you need to know about this one, she is of little importance.

Hero/Villain: What ... were we talking about again?

Anom: Oh, nothing dear child. I believe you may have had a few questions about our wonderful city and the ones who dwell within it ... maybe, yes?

Hero/Villain: Right, what can you tell me about <insert question on general quest info here>

    Dr. Evil says...

The details of my life are quite inconsequential ... Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute named Chloé with webbed feet. My father would womanize; he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament ... My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon ... luge lessons ... In the spring, we'd make meat helmets ... When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds — pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum — it's breathtaking ... I suggest you try it.

    :p
