Looks like it may be a moot point now, but i found this junk model: Its done in Poser, not sure about compatability with gmax. If you want it, just let me know. BTW, second effort looks nice.
@Gaear... that was an awesome presentation after starting my day by putting my elbow in my coffee cup (and I didn't even have a drink yet)... I was wondering how to get those effects to work ... now i know... Could you break it out and place it as a seperate tutorial for everyone. @ bob.. definitely post it online for us (in poser format) as I'm sure someone will find a use for it... @ all... I have been talking this over with ST for a few weeks and what I probably am going to do is place it at the caravan as either a training mod where they head back to the caravan at the end or use it as the beginning of a future mod where it is built upon over time and can be a seperate download and not oversize the CMF or create an imbalance in the leveling of the normal game... This setting could also allow us to use the caravan as a starting point for different adventures and open other avenues...
Not a bad idea... though it would require the adventures to be long rather than have the length of an average side-quest.
@ Maggit.....it's a start... this way we don't unbalance TOEE any more and allows people to mod new ideas.. (in the offtime they are not working on their portions of KOTB) as it is through trial and error that we are progessing... @ Gaear... thanks for your excellent tutalege and everyone elses sage advise, I believe that I finally hit on the final copy... Click here to watch final-corsair2 and anyone looking for ambient nature sounds, here is a nice resource http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/soundfx/Ambience.shtml
... no "critical" taken... :chairshot just trying to make sure we dont overbalance it any more and for me it will be a work in progress as I have limited time to mod.. but thanks.. I think this is the closest to TOEE style that I will be able to take it without being a graphic artist.. and only modifying someone elses work:dead:
I have an archive with the junk model and several other ship models which may be useful, but the archive (35mb) is too large to upload here. If you would like the models, let me know and I will get them to you somehow.
@Ax - the only things I would suggest now would be to stretch the movie out to 15 - 20 seconds (that's the typical duration of a basic ToEE movie), and to fade out your audio at the end. It ends rather abruptly the way it is right now.
yeah slightly long would be good, also I don't know if its posible but a bit of zoom onto the the ship would be nice (you might have to ask gaear about that - if I was using premier I'd export the movie as a film strip and do the zooming in photo shop)
I don't think you can do that in Movie Maker. I could do it with wild abandon in Premiere, but I'm afraid Ax is stuck with an inferior tool here. There's a moral to this story too, btw: most of our exceptional artist types here seem to use Photoshop, as opposed to MS Paint or some nonsense like that. Know why? You're only as good as your tools, as the saying goes. Movie-making is no exception. Use a limited piece of software and you're going to get only marginal results at best. That's just the way it is. I think Movie Maker was mainly intended for everyday joes who wanted to make DVDs of their kids' soccer games.
Gaear, I am in total agreement with you that you are limited by the tools you use. Unfortunately some of us are not in a position to drop $600 on a piece of software when there are real life bills to pay, therefore we are forced to find alternatives to accomplish close to the same thing.. Also never having modded before, nor being graphic artists some of us learn techniques along the way and there is a learning curve that occurs.. critique is always welcome.... and style lessons are always welcome... so much for my bitch session... anyways... I was looking at the length and dont want it too long but I will play with what I have until I find an inexpensive tool to do the job.. but the reason I posted is to get the feedback and to learn a few things in the process.
yeah, The likes of me have professional training in multimedia (it does come naturally to me tho) altho I've only done 20 hours of payed work in that field - and got $400 for the trouble.
...on a good note.. I just won an ebay listing for a new copy of TOEE.. only $8 with shipping... now I can reinstall it at home...:Being_a_s
...mmmh...to make a movie similar in style to that of ToEE style (like the entrance to town, at beggining of the game), an image of the junk at sea could be done, and another one of the coast, so a slow zoom in to the boat (x3 zoom to put a number) and the coast on top of that, with more zoom (x4 or x5, also the blur of the pixels would give an idea of out of sight), that would look similar and it could be done easily on photoshop-at least the images- and then some animating program...the boat and sea could be slightly moved a few pixels up and down from pic to pic, to give the idea of floating... (i don't know if made myself clear, my english is a gibberish thing, sounds more like a mix of tarzan and yoda )
