I think that the starting shopmap caravan should:

  1. Be changed from an NPC encounter to a formal instruction format.

  2. Be left as is.

It also appears to have a wide white skirt down below.

Not sure about the belt of giant strength either, btw.

Probably WAY late to enter this discussion, but my thoughts:

The one thing that really bugs me about the map is the comments.
I always enter the map naked (I think I may have selected this option when it was started & I can't find where to change it).
All the merchants comment on the fact.
Agreed, it is a little odd to be wandering around the market in your undies.
However, if I don't like the clothes I'm given & want to change them, I'm losing out on buying power.
Either get rid of the "did you forget to get dressed this morning" comments, or (I think better option) for THIS SHOP ONLY have sale prices the same as purchase prices, so that you don't lose out swapping things about.
This would have an added benefit for those (like me) rusty with the rules set.
I sometimes buy a weapon to check whether or not I am proficient with it (I can never remember whether a mace is simple or martial, or a shortsword or...).
When I get it wrong, I've just wasted a wad of cash for the benefit of holding a weapon for a few minutes.

Turning up nekkid for the merchants is chosen when you're given the options for Allyx's shopmap when installing the Co8 v5 package.

    I see your point.
I have the same problem, when buying clothes. I want to see how a scale mail looks, but i got ripped off by the seller. In my case is a stupid problem, but looking for martial weapons for example, not.
I never remember all the weapons available for Druids for example, or the bard's weapons choice. And they don't show up in the "rulebook".

Maybe adding a book with that information or -better- having that info on the interface "rulebook"?.

I'll check into the 'break even prices' thing. Not sure if it's at all doable, but I think the point is valid, particularly for the new shopmap looming on the horizon. :)

OK, but short of reinstalling it, is there a way to change the options selected?

Can't we just give new characters a 1cp Robe of the Poor or something instead of making them buck naked? I mean, giving out no-ability cheap garb isn't *that* unbalancing, it it? Especially if we make casters pay for the Robe of Material Components Under 100gp.

If we give them farmers' clothes, I don't think they can sell them for anything - you just throw them away if you don't want them.

What combination of options has them show up fully equipped? Then you can buy and sell as you please, even if it isn't 1 for 1. The choices seem only to be all 3 boxes or none, though I've had other outcomes.

This goes back to the nature of what I think was originally intended for this thing: you weren't supposed to be portrayed as travelling the countryside naked in-game; instead, you were a brand new character that hadn't set foot into the game world yet and still needed to select equipment. In that scenario, your nakedness would be insignificant.

Mod is up, see CMF thread. :)

Thanks be to HK for doing many many of the inventory icons, as well as many meshes that I did not use, unfortunately. Also every other modder who's ever done mesh work - your stuff is in there more likely than not.

Also kudos to original shopmap/caravan makers Allyx and Blue. Hopefully this one will work out as well as that one did.
