I seem to have better luck traveling between Nulb and Homlet to find it.

Hi all, I started a new run through TOEE with the latest new content patch, and went to Welkwood Bog for the first time if you can believe it, I know it was already available before I stopped playing TOEE some years ago, I just never got around to trying it out. Job well done though, I thought it was an enjoyable little side quest. I'm eager to see what you guys did to Verbovonc in my absence but I understand I need to beat Zugtmoy first so I'm still way off at only level 5 characters... *sigh*

Level 5 characters can take her. Try flanking, and summonses.

Heh, I might, I just lost about an hours gameplay though through trying to get into the Earth Temple Shrine, didn't expect to be so vastly outnumbered by ogres, elementals, bugbears guards etc... I'll try again when I'm a few levels higher lol.

The Earth Temple Shrine is one of my favorites, especially when they come at you from both sides. ;)

Very cool new side adventure! I really liked the illusionary monsters and the spooky bog and uncertain undead "lich" element.
Great job, very well done Gaear!!!

This area was my favourite in the game so far - if I hadn't studied the readme, I would have never thought it a mod addition. It fits seamlessly into the Hommlet quests, writing and atmosphere are great and appropriately spooky, Kobolds and Goblins are the proper threat they should be to a lvl 1 party by employing actual tactics, and the illusions were a nice touch (albeit a bit too obvious, what with the lvl 0 / 1HP guy entering your party).

I have just one gripe with this: Why make Welkwood Bog out to be far more terrible and dangerous than the Moathouse? I get that it's maybe supposed to subvert expectations, but for new players this is slightly confusing. There are options to travel to the moathouse from the first conversation with a wizard in the tavern on, and no big deal is made of it, while you have to jump through hoops and loops to get the (in fact far more level-appropriate) Welkwood Bog quest. These warnings are fun to read, and make sense for frightened villagers, but you might want to add some similar scare stories about the moathouse here and there, just to balance things out.

I beleive the main purpose of the Welkwood Bog quest was to provide an alternative level appropriate XP adventure for starting characters, specifically for players who have grown bored of the original fed-ex quest grind that you essentially have to do before heading to the Moathouse - because if you do go at level 1, you are going to get stomped and gobbled up by frogs, smashed in the face by a Barbarian's Great Axe, or pureed by Lubash.
