Emryds run appears, but it is not an big issue. It is known allready.

    You don't need to re-install/ re-activate.
Welkwood bog does not appear on the world map, only as a travel location in the list next to the world map.

All of the NC locations added are now only available through the list to the right of the map.

Restarting the game I´m again in Welkwood Bog for the first visit in that game.
Captain Ash joined my party and I noticed that he had only 1 HP which hints at his status and that he is with only his own equipment already encumbered.

I have "show exact hitpoints for NPC´s" not checked in the front-end so his health bar does not give this away, only opening his inventory as a party member where one can see the 1 hp.

In addition he appears as 0th level so that he immediately after joining displays the "level-up" sign in his portrait...?

Well, I'm just popping in to make a suggestion.

I always find playing Evil aligned parties more fun then their goodie-goodie-two-shoes counterparts, but what I (sometimes) lack is the visual statement of it all. Sure, once you get Scorp, Hill-giant girl & Oohlgrist things start to look better, but that's so -ahum- late in the game.

Now, the thing is, there is a very viable persona in the game to give any party that nice touch of Evilishness, almost right from the start. Neither is he overpowered, nor does he carry anything of value around, so it wouldn't be something to unbalance the game.

I am talking about the poor little soon-to-be-unemployed goblin, Kwerd.

He's not too loyal towards his current master, and when you kill Mathel, he's going to stand there miserably in his little corner for the rest of the game. Honestly, I think he would quite enjoy the life of an adventurer - if the party would be to his liking, offcourse. As long as the party isn't Good aligned, he would take the chance to participate in this grand adventure...

It beats counting pebbles in a field dotted with the corpses from his former colleagues...:bored:

    Well put.

And I too wish to join the FREE KWERD campaign!

Should we start a petition? :p

Why only non-good parties? Kwerd looks like an ideal first patient for the Monster Reform Society.....

My two cents: this Kwerd idea is brilliant.

Though I hate the way NPC's won't deal with parties that have monsters in them. I mean, here I am, a hero to these people, knighted for saving Prince Thrommel, but still they won't trust me when I say that Oohlgrist is under control. It's particularly annoying with Darley, especially if she's picked up without revealing that she's a demon.

You can actually use scroll of 'dominate' monster or person to Kwerd and make him into your side. Still you must kill him then revive him through Jaroo's intervention, so the after-effects of the spell are gone -- making him a permanent companion. NPC traders will still talk to you, even he is on your side, I'd already test this kind of gameplay -- so it's possible.

My build is 4 fighter levels and the rest are rouge, he is using 'kukris' :-D, the perfect back-stabber on the water. Just on the water I say. :)

So I had no idea Dominate Person/Monster works the way it works. Apparently, I can add any NPC into my party. I tested it on Senshock, Smigmal, Falrinth, Hedrack. It seems it works with everyone, and I'm assuming it works with monsters and animals as well.

This is definitely one of those "I didn't know till just now" things. Which leaves me wondering what kind of party I should build next.

Can I recommend reading the "I didn't know I could do this" thread?

I'm sure you'll find quite a few neat tricks and quirks there. :)

I haven't played with an evil party but I really like the idea of Kwerd being recruited. I know it would be a lot of work, but who is going to be able to afford or even find a dominate scroll at level 1 or 2. I would think that any alignment could be talked into allowing him to live and come along instead of being left to his own devices. Evil people might like him, neutrals do whatever they want, and goodly types might pity him or think that it is best to keep an eye on him. If you can be lawful good and bully a troll chief into helping you kill fire demons, you should be able to let this pitiful creature tag along.

Just went through this one last night, and I have to say it was terrific. The bog was suitably creepy. My crew was, I think, maybe a teensy bit tougher than necessary, but it was still enough of a challenge that you couldn't just go on autopilot to get through.

My first visit to the bog, I accepted Captain Whoosit into my party, then traveled back to Hommlet and...that was interesting. After that, I kinda got the gist of things. I really enjoyed the "pop-up Kobold" encounters. I ended up taking the underground rout to Maleth, and this is where things got a bit weird.

I took out the two groups of Kobolds, then rested, at which point I heard footsteps behind the big double doors. My party was standing right at the doors when they opened, Maleth appeared with his goons, and we ended up fighting it out. I was surprised that I could destroy him by turning him with my Sun cleric, but he went up in smoke right after she cast "Bless" on the party. After that, it was a relatively simple affair to dispatch his cronies. The gnoll skeleton ran and got taken out by AoO, and the living gnoll found my barbarian's axe in his skull in short order. I picked the lock to Maleth's chest, braced for some kind of explosion/poison/acid trap, nothing happened, and I took his stuff.

    Then things got weird.

I too had the "bug" where the goblin and kobold leaders were suddenly friendly and simply wandering back and forth between the rooms.

From skimming through this thread, I gather these guys are supposed to be hostile. Is there any way for me to take them out? Could I just, say, cast MM on one and tick them off that way? Or are they forever "friendly"? I don't have a paladin in my team so I don't worry about killing something that's incorrectly "friendly" to my party, but I'm curious as to what's up here and if there's a way to fix it (and loot them).
