Re: Co8 Mod Pack 4.0.0 Major problem

This may already been adressed but I'm to lazy to go through the posts. I tried downloading the patch (twice) and both times when I tried to open it an error poped up and told me that the file was corrupt and I should try to download it again. If anyone knows why this is and how to fix it, that would be much appreciated.

I'd also generally recommend something like getright for downloading (just in case it's some internet interruption glitchiness). That way you can be sure you will get the files as intended no matter what and can go problem hunting in the knowledge it isn't something silly like that.

Gaear - shame as Orion had some decent ideas. He had some similar 'issues' when Livonya was doing her mod and releasing it for everyone. Can see his point about content but it's pretty easily modded out if you hate it. Hell, you can just ignore the whole questline if you just want to take advantage of the fixes. I like DH though - it's fun and keeps within the spirit of the game.

    Hi Cujo and Allyx,
Thanks alot for the info and the fix. Works well even if not the appearance of sickle. I really appreciate the help and must say you're some of the best modders I've met in terms of such rapid reaction, assistance, valuable and balanced changes and content. Especially loved the crafting additions and Elmo's diologue concerning Fruella and especially Bertram hehe. Maybe someone can eventually work out the appearance of sickles but you've done an excellent job guys. Best Wishes :)

Very minor bug. If you recruit the thief in the Hommlet Inn, should your 'talking' skills be high enough (sorry didn't check which one) then you can get him to hand over his protection from magic potion. Problem is, that when he is recruited, he still has that potion on him, effectively giving you two potions. As I said, it's minor but was wondering on the implications for other NPCs when being given full access to their inventory.

Actually, not a bug at all. If you check the InvenSource.mes, you will discover that Furnok has two entries for item #8003 (potion of protection from magic).

Another point, would it be reasonable to use the model for the scythe, scaled to small size, for the sickle? It seems to me that a sickle is more like a small scythe than like a scimitar.

Ah ok. Don't recall seeing him with 2 potions when he's joined the party in the past (eg pre-last few patches). But that could be my old age creeping in and/or related to not being able to move stuff out of his inventory :tired:

I've noticed this popping up several times on the forum. Tasha's Hideous Laughter has a -4 to DC if the caster and target are of radically different races. The "humor" doesn't translate well. Since 18 INT (which most Wizards probably have) is a +4 bonus, it looks like the bonus is being ignored, but it isn't, just canceled out.

If it's not doing the -4 against other monster races, then that is the bug.

Huh. I'd missed that in the spell description. (Though I guess with hundreds of feats and spells, I can't remember every little quirk from every single one.)I'll have to double-check if it's applying a -4 penalty, or if it's just removing the modifier. Good catch.

I have what may seem like a stupid question, but I've never really quite understood the way this forum has been structured in regards to mods and download links.

How come this thread, for instance (or at least the first post of this thread), isn't in the Downloads section of Co8 forum->ToEE Modding?

I find it odd that the main mod of this group isn't even linked in the Downloads section, but all the optional additions and modding tools are...

The same goes for "rogue mods" etc.

I think it confuses a lot of new people that there are several download sections that aren't clearly named "DOWNLOAD" spread throughout the whole forum site.

It would also be cool if the forum interface would show when a post was last updated or edited instead of the user having to click on each forum section individually to check if it's been updated recently. I don't know if that's possible with this forum software, but I would think so...

I can imagine it must be a bit frustrating if you haven't been following this stuff for months (or years hehe) like some of the more "hardcore" forum members here have.

I agree completely - but then I only stop by once a month to spruik my Amway franchise.

The main mod IS linked in the Download section, under "Official Releases". If someone wants to download and install the current mod pack, all (s)he has to do is follow the step by step guide there.

This thread isn't in the Download section since the Download section is for downloads only, not discussions.

The Download section doesn't contain all the latest fixes/add-ons, granted. I'll try to update it sometime with the latest info.

That's what the "New Posts" button is for. ;)

If and when you do that, Morpheus, please do not include my newspells there yet. This is still experimental stuff, and as I have pointed out in the new spells thread and in the documentation in the zip, I don't want this in the download section yet.. I want to get a fair run in general modification in the hopes that any serious problems will be found before a more general release. Actually, I want to hold the general release of the spells off until the next official release and have them included there.

    Thx

    Hello to all...

I'm new to this forum and totally dig Toee. I have a couple of questions for ya. After installing co8 mod pack 4.0.0( and I followed the steps just as Morpheus posted), how does one know for sure that the patch is in place? How do I load the Module within/from Toeefe? I'm not totally sure I'm doing this right and need some expert advice.

Launch the game through the shortcut to the frontend. Select the Co8 module in the little window in the frontend and start it.

If you have selected Allyx's shop then you'll start off next to some equipment merchants. If you have not selected this option, then you'll meet a little boy as soon as you have entered Hommlet.
