Yeah, that is ultimately how I got Rannos down: I positioned my Improved Trip fighter to his left, my barbarian to his right, and my ranger with a longspear on the other side of the table, blocked access to Spugnoir with my cleric, then opened up with a trip attack on Rannos. He fell, and everybody merrily hacked away at him with Spugnoir throwing in magic missiles. He got up, however, and imbibed some healing potion, then called to Gremag to disappear, who was meanwhile delivering crippling criticals to my cleric while my Dex 22 rogue tried to shoot him in the back from 10 feet without success. Next round, Gremag drank his potion and didn't become easier to hit, Rannos was hacked to pieces with attacks of opportunity while he tried the same. Raimol fell when my ranger turned around and accidentally poked him with the blunt end of his longspear, and that was it.

I didn't have much luck with attacking through the [attack] option from the dialogue, which is now thankfully there. Somehow, Rannos and Gremag always came out on top with the initiative rolls and wreaked some havoc on the nearby characters, then disappeared before I could do much damage to them. I think it would be better if they decided to run off only when one of them becomes "injured" or so, it would give you another round to finish him off. The other one would probably be in better shape still and so have a good chance of making it out, which would be perfect for the revenge scenario.

While shopping, I noticed that the kukri is incorrectly an exotic weapon. This is in contradiction both to the d20srd and the in-game help, which both list it as a light martial weapon. (It also doesn't make any sense, like a bolo or a machete the kukri is basically a large work knive that can be used to great effect very intuitively and certainly does not require the level of training that spike chain and friends need. IMO it could even be a simple weapon, but that's not what the srd says.)

While at it, I also noticed that the sickle (we talked about it some days ago) is not mentioned in the in-game help at all. It could be mentioned as the light simple weapon (see http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#simpleWeapons) it is, judging from its in-game behavior.

And the sickle should be a druid weapon, I think it was required in the 2nd edition for certain druid rituals.

Regarding the Rannos and Gremag situation, it also looks like the "Retribution" quest I apparently got from Burne when I mentioned the assassin's letter to him becomes unfinishable when you open up on the traders without doing the talking. (I just assume that talking would somehow finish it.) It guess it should be either finished or botched after the fight? Or is there something else required? Will it finish when I get Gremag in his ambush?

I also would like to know how to get the "Trader's revealed" quest and finish it. It's pink although I found out the spies and reported to Rufus.

Regarding Imryds Run, I tried a new tactics where I try to break through the lizardmen lines in the hopes that the froggies would go after them instead. But that doesn't seem to work, neither attacks the other, but they join forces in going after the party. Are they in the same faction? If so, I think that doesn't make a lot of sense, I think giant frogs would consider lizardmen food like most everything else, and lizardmen would defend against them. At the moment this battle feels like an orchestrated ambush by frogs, lizardpeople(, and possibly gar), for which I can see no convincing reason.

I have 6.0.0NC installed and use the Front end loader as required by the mod. Co8 mod when activated runs great as far as I can tell. But if I activate the original TOEE and try to run it, it crashes. It gets to the load screen and almost gets to the end of the statis bar and then crashes to desktop. Why does Co8 run fine and Original won't run at all?

And yes I tried disableing the intro but it still crashes. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!

Both the giant frogs and the behometh frogs share an AI type that is, strangely, empty of instructions. I would think it would then shift to the default AI, but default doesn't include any special targeting commands beyond 'go for closest.' So I guess I'm not sure why they hate Spugnoir.

I guess we could give their specific AI simple instructions to go for closest ... I remember there was a heated discussion in the far distant past where the merits of frog intelligence were debated with great vigor. It seemed very silly to me.

You have to talk to Burne to finish it if you fight them.

You have to talk to Rannos and Gremag.

I'm sure they are of the same faction, and the reason is no doubt that Troika wanted you to face a challenging fight with attackers at the front and rear. :p

Seriously, if we changed that now after all these years we'd likely be skinned alive.

    1. In the hostel Dala tried to pick my pocket and I replied with swift and harsh justice. Pearl and Dala didn’t escape so I had to kill them too. After the battle Wrenches’ and one of the girl’s (can’t remember which) corpses disappeared so I couldn’t loot em.

    2. In Moathouse Lareth stormed to aid he’s troops and yelled something. He never said anything more, but I imagine that’s because I whacked him dead so quickly.

    3. The new npc cleric (Rynald or something) seems to miss some animations. In battle he sometimes does nothing when I order him to hit an opponent. Then a miss or hit is scored and next character in line (at least if it is one of mine) looses one’s next turn, like already moved or something (the action indicator is yellow).

Well, what probably also could explain the observed behavior is if they designate the closest person their target and then single-mindedly go after it until it's dead before looking for the next, which one might consider realistic. Spugnoir may have been closest to both in the beginning.

Ah well, ok then. It was worth a try. ;)

He didn't have anything new to say, but I guess this is because Gremag got away for now?

I just encountered my first Jerk Stop with this mod. It apeared just like in previous mods 5.9.2 and 5.9.3 right next to Welkoming Wench, after I finished Arena of Heroes/reached level 10. Curiously it seems to take an effect only during daytime. I reloded and entered Hommlet during nighttime and there were no problems.

Went into the temple through the brigand tower and rescued the Countess Tillahi (thus finally finishing my opening vignette) and Prince Thrommel. The brigand fight is one of my favorites. It can be pretty tough, especially if their witches get off a Silence before your spellcasters can do anything, but you also get advance warning and can make the choice to go in or not, so it doesn't feel as unfair as the Imryds Run situation, where the game just dumps you in the middle of all hostiles.

It's a bit strange that when you resuce the prisoners and talk to them, the countess, Sir Juffer, and the pirate guy disappear, but two elves and the two Nulb merchants stay behind. Shouldn't they go, too?

No - he's supposed to comment on that and the quest should be completed. Or are you talking about just having attacked them outright?

I just encountered two ettins accompanied with ten hobgoblins in a random encounter. The hobgoblins attacked the ettins which bashed back with the “friendly fire” notions. Same thing happened with goblins. But when I encountered ettins with brown bears they co-operated and attacked me. A glitch?

Also I have noticed that sometimes you can use healing spells (and any other buffing spell) from a distance which is very useful in a combat situation. Sometimes you can’t and the healer rushes into combat next to the patient and gets whacked, which is rather annoying. Is this a known issue? And can anything be done to avoid it?
