Here's a funny one: if you bring Oolghrist to the Slaver's quest, they don't talk to you and scream "Run! Monster!" and the like.

In the initial shop, if you buy a "druid armor" with your farmer's garb on, the farmer garb disappears instead of being put into your inventory, but you have extra weight in you inventory even if it's empty.

Don't think if it can be called a bug.. yet I've noticed that one way to simply avoid having to fight buffed casters is to wait/sleep in an area.. I've noticed this with spugnoir in the homlett inn, everytime you enter the area he buffs himself.. yet if you sleep/wait without leaving/entering the area spells expire without the buffs remaining.
I'm afraid this would happen even in larger maps where you may take you chances and sleep some time in order to recover (like in the temple), meaning you'll fight against easier casters (yet, knowing this, i'll just exit/enter area after sleeping)..

Maybe a way to solve this would be to make the game "reload" the area after you have slept/waited time?

I have found that the blacksmith's chest challenge no longer appears to work in 5.9.1NC

The chest didn't appear until the party returned from the Hickory orcs at about level 8. [previously after Moathouse about level 5] An 8th level halfing rogue (even with intelligence adjusted to 18) couldn't find any traps on the chest, he unlocked and opened it without any traps going off. The smith congratulated him on his proficiency and he gained both horn and book.

UNFORTUNATELY SUBSEQUENT DIALOGUE WITH SMITH SUGGESTED THAT "I OUGHT TO SOLVE CHEST PROBLEM FIRST"

It appears to be impossible to get to Re-spawn and Verbobonc now - a shame as this appeared to work perfectly in 5.9.0NC

Incidently in 5.9.0NC I got to Verbobonc and completed all challenges up to slavers challenge and started searching wilderness for them.... while so doing I kept encountering new Wilfricks in Mattel's wood that had no recollection of any previous meeetings.

    I apologise I got my 5.9.2, 5.9.1 and 5.9.0 confused

Smiths chest doesn't work with 5.9.2 NC but does with 5.9.0 NC. I think I missed out 5.9.1 NC

The chest doesn't spawn until the conditions are met. Things to do: Always talk to BroSmyth. Captian Renton-WelkwoodBog. Kenter Nevets-HickoryBranch. Make a trip to the temple and make contact with Earth temple. Do at least first episode of AoH. Talk to Kent-Moathouse Respawn. When all is completed you get Passage to Verbobonc on the world map.

Have you by any chance read the book from the chest?
That might be the "chest problem" he's talking about.

    Holy Word

As reported by others, there are several issues:

    1. It kills foes that it shouldn't.
    2. It displays "saving throw failed" for every round long after the spell is cast.
    3. No XP is awarded for kills.

    Investigating it, it seems that:
    1. Is caused due to a bug in the scripting that checks for Extraplanar creatures - the check will almost always return 1.
Also, it seems the caster level value is wrong. E.g. a 13th level caster got a caster level of 18 in my testing. Perhaps related to having the Good domain.
    2. Is caused by applying the spell effect 'sp-Hold Monster' to simulate paralysis for 1d10 minutes. The spell effect entails a saving throw every round to break free from the spell, so that's probably what players see.

    3. is caused by using the "critter_kill()" command. If the player hasn't damaged the critter, it won't recognize the player as the critter's killer, and thus won't award XP.

Attached is a file with a partial fix:
    1. Fixed the wrong check for extraplanarity.
    3. Added a damage command for 52d52 holy damage dealt by the game.leader before applying the critter_kill() command. This will probably kill the critter by itself, but even if it doesn't, it will make the game recognize that the player should get XP.

Tested on a bunch of Emridy skeletons and the Slavers, worked properly on them.

As mentioned though, there's still the caster level issue. I'll leave it for now, since I suspect a hasty fix could entail other troubles. Enjoy the exploit :p
Also, can't think of anything to fix the saving throw issue, but it's fairly harmless in terms of actual effect (if somewhat annoying).

Sweet. You're awesome. What about circle of death and weird and finger of death and phantasmal killer and all other instant kill spells not giving experience?

I've recently come back to ToEE, after discovering the new community patches. A lot of love in all this new content and all these fixes.

However, I have a similar problem to Pygmy. Here's what happens (in 5.9.2 NC):

    1. I finish Hickory Branch.
    2. I go to Hommlet and speak with the smith. He immediately tells me he has trouble with a chest. I say I don't know about locks.
    3. The chest spawns.
The chest is marked as "empty". I can successfully pick it. No trap is sprung. I open it after I pick it, and the smith tells me I've done a good job.
    4. The chest remains empty. Talking to the smith about "something special" leads me to the same dialogue problem Pygmy has, "I should probably take care of the chest problem first".

The giant's head quest is also unfinished (though I have killed the giant and have his head in my inventory), and I am unable to get a dialogue option with the smith to finish it.

I have killed exactly 1 enemy in the temple (an ogre) and cleared the temple guard tower.

Is there a way to fix my game, or must I start over?

    Hey Elethiomel,

Was your inventory full when you opened the chest?

Hold down the tab button near the chest and see if a book and a horn shows up on the ground.

A question for Sitra; Can we just extract your fixes to our TOEE directory and replace existing file when asked, or is there a path that should be followed.

And, thanks a lot for making the fixes.

Thank you. This was exactly my problem. (I didn't keep a save of the "bugged game", so I reloaded my save from just before I left Hickory Branch. Removing a bunch of stuff from my bard's inventory before I opened the chest helped a bunch.

Gaear, you may recall some time ago I did some protos tinkering regarding Ranger Favored Enemies. I had successfully implemented +4 and +6 values by duplicating it in the protos feat list. Thus +4 vs humans would be listed twice.

I noticed that your new rangers and perhaps some of the pre-existing ones above 4th level do not have that applied to them.
