WoW:twitch: That sounds like a nasty build. Definitely one I will try. I appreciate all the specific details on the build.

You just answered your own question. Thanks for correcting me, florian1. And no, I have never attempted to craft such a weapon because I already find the game too easy, so I don't need to craft such uber weapons.

In TOEE you can craft such a weapon, but it doesn't matter because only the first 3 enhancements will get put into effect.

Also, for more role-playing purposes, the cleaver shouldn't be used. It costs the same price as any other masterwork weapon, but it is imbued magically with "keen" - you can even see its blue hues when it is held by a character.

It is also 1d10, X3 critical, and with a critical range double that of other weapons in its weapon class (becomes quad after keen). It doesn't look quite as intimidating as a greataxe or a falchion, but it's definitely an overpowered weapon.

Ranger-Rogue or Fighter-Rogue with composite longbow both work very well, with greater invisibility/glitterdust. The Slave Trader battles became quite easy cos a 5-shot holy-lawful weapon with 7d6 sneak attack wiped out both the sorceress and the cleric before they had a turn. Of course, that's only if you take the "easy way".

It's seemingly impossible to have less than 2 dead if you go the "hard route", 1 from the auto-kill and 1 from the stunned guy being hit by the rogue's coup de grace.

Anyway, digression aside, I find the Rogue the best when using a bow, cos it lets him use dex and strength can become a semi-dump stat. Especially if he's your party face, he'll need decent wisdom/char, so constitution and str usually have to be the weak stats for a rogue.

Doesn't the game crash when you over-enchant an item?

Edit: Just tested over-enchanting a weapon, and it didn't crash the game. Also, when you enhance the cleaver, the +1 and keen is taken into account when adding extra enhancements. The only cheat is the cost, so if you wanted to role play properly, you could wait until you had enough money for a +2 weapon, and then dump the money you should have paid into the woods, or donate it.

That's the bluff skill working as a feint before the real sneak attack.

    My $0.02:

Improved initiative is a huge help for rogues, because any attack before an enemy has had a chance to act is automatically a sneak attack (i.e. they're still flat-footed.) Starting off combat w/ a sneak attack is great.

I am a big fan of dual-classing a few levels of fighter. Having the range of martial weapons to choose from is really nice, as are the extra feats.

Kind of goes without saying, but keep your tumble skill up - I always use my rogues are mobile fighters while my barbarians/fighters/rangers just stand there and dish out the damage.

Using their Impoved Initiative up to scream "Sneak Attack" is still dumb. Just strike! The target will will figure it out. Or won't need to. ;)

Well, yelling "SNEAK ATTACK" is part OF the Sneak Attack!.

It really throws the enemy off. That split second they are wondering just what kind of idiot they are dealing with here, is when you strike :) With your imporved intiiative, and now a +2 on Initiative bonus. :pelvicthr

You have seen the Lydda videos on You Tube, right?

    Yes.

    1. "Hello, I'm a..." gets your attention and put's you into alert mode.

    2. "SNEAK ATTACK!" puts you into combat mode and cancels all sneak attack bonuses as surprise is already gone.

A real sneak attack is when the target realizes there is someone there as the blade slides OUT.

The Lydda videos are ENTERTAINMENT, not training aids.

(I sound like my old D.I. talking to a certain numbskull.)
