I hope you had a good day and night.

A little warmer tonight. Yay!

My lawn irrigation system did not break. At least not that I can tell,
and I think I'd be able to.

The dark moon comes soon.

To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

The Nightly Mission:

Sleep until the morning,
and wake up clear.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night.

I think your lawn irrigation system will be fine at 18 above. It has to be at least 10 to 20 below or more up here for a stretch of time before water lines break if they are not used consistently. I would be more concerned about alligators coming out of the swamp and into your yard to get your dog! I read a florida story once that showed a picture of an aligator climbing a chain link fence to get at the dog in the yard, lol. Strange thing to see, an alligator climbing a fence.

The lines used to water lawns here in Florida are not placed as deep as regular water lines are. Generally, they are less than 6" below ground level and have parts that extend above ground. Many people here have had the lines for lawn irrigation break, or the sprinkler part that extends above ground break.

This long spell of below freezing weather is highly unusual for Florida.

Yes, alligators can climb fences. And they move much faster out of water than you would believe. They do not generally leave the water in winter unless it is very warm in the sun, and then they mainly sunbathe. Spring is when they go wandering around, looking for a mate.

The Houston Zoo kept its alligators behind a chain link fence all the time I was a kid. I guess it was cheaper to repair the fence than to actually buy food for the gators. :p

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

Warmer again tonight. Supposed to get up to 54 (for the lowest temp)
in a couple of days! We can all run around in the middle of the night
wearing shorts. Or will feel like it, anyway.

The dark moon comes nigh. Will be here tomorrow night.

Had to call the local utilities guy at work to see if the huge puddle out by the dumpster is their broken pipe or ours. It's theirs. Which is good. Second one in 2 days. The other one was ours.

He said they are running every crew, and all night, to fix all the broken pipes. He looked tired. (He was really cute, too!)

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the soon to be dark earth,

The Nightly Mission:

Warmer Warmer Warmer
3 times, a winter mantra
to take you down into
sleep, down where the
cold doesn't follow.

Wake up in the morning
and celebrate the rising
sun.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night!

I hope you had a good day and that the night goes well.

It is close enough to the dark moon for me!

Warmer still. Time for shorts soon.

This cold spell is setting Florida records.

Front page news on how busy the plumbers are.
(you can easily tell when it isn't football season around
here...)

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the dark moon,

The Nightly Mission:

Think of how beautiful Spring
will be once it arrives as you
huddle under the layers of
warm covers preparing for
the dive down into sleep.
Smell the new greenery
if you can...perhaps the
scent will bring you
beautiful dreams.

Wake up tomorrow
refreshed.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night!

The time for shorts is arriving here in the northland as well. It was 30 above yesterday and expected to stay that way for a while. Spring has sprung.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

'Tis the time of the Dark Moon.

So I smile...

I went outside of the office this evening, at dusk, and heard an owl
call so loudly and often that I thought it was a dog barking for awhile.
Big owl, I imagine.

Other than that, the night has been quiet. And warmer still.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the dark earth,

The Nightly Mission:

Close your eyes tonight and drift on the tides
that wash the shores of sleep and perhaps
some sweet Circe dreams will find you.

And let you loose in time to wake up tomorrow
and greet the day with a smile.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

China got to watch the eclipse early this morning. I think it
was this morning, or it was their time anyway. So last night
was big energy-wise. It carried over into today...I smiled
all day long. Great day.

For those who are interested:

As the shadow of the moon eclipsed the sun on Friday, leaving only a blazing ring of fire visible in Africa and parts of Asia, scientists, eclipse chasers and spectators gathered to watch the longest annular eclipse this millenium.
In an annular eclipse the sun and moon are directly in line with the viewing point on earth and the outer rim of the sun is visible around the moon's smaller shadow.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the dark earth,

The Nightly Mission:

Ride the aftermath of the Dark Moon,
muscles slack, mind-silly; slide down
into the darkness of sleep, smiling.

Wake up tomorrow with a soft wind
ringing the chimes, let it blow your
hair around your face and smile yet
again.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night!!

So, how's everyone been? I kinda poofed for a bit, there. Real life got a bit crazy for a while there. Kinda missed everybody here, even though I barely know you guys, yet. Got a three-day weekend comin up (YAY!) so I'll be hanging around a bit more, and hopefully won't poof again.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

Warm today, rained off and on, and once got serious
enough to produce some thunder and lightning.

A quiet and serene day, today. I don't have many of
those and was grateful for it. The rain made me
sleepy, but not in a 'you must go to sleep now' way,
more just quietly drowsy with no urgency about it.

I like those kind of days/moods, interspersed between my
normal fare...doubt if I would like too many of them, though.

Some of us aren't made for too much tranquility.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

The Nightly Mission:

Night closes in and surrounds you with
the dark. As you fall into sleep, keep
in mind that the light is always present
in the dark and go without fear.

When you wake up in the morning, honor
the light that followed you there.

May the Lady smile
on you and me too.

G'Night.
