I hope you had a good day and the night is going well.

Still not in the mood to write much.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the still dark earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep. Dream.
    Wake up, look around...
    and hope you find what
    you are looking for.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

Just barely still Friday night. And for a change, I do not wish I had a reason to put my dancing shoes on. My feet are resting.

A long drive home from work, as usual, and uneventful, which was good since I wasn't paying much attention to the road, just mainly driving on autopilot. Nice that our brains can do that.

But I am paying attention to some things. I noticed a lizard by the shutters, a larger one than the one I always saw there last summer, maybe the same one, but I doubt it. It too, scooted right under the shutters when it saw me.

Summer is almost over. I will be glad when it is. I never have liked Florida summers, as hot and humid as they are, but this summer has been more difficult than most.

Ah, but I have learned a lot. When you have a significant loss in your life, an important one, it seems to put other things back in perspective. You can think a little clearer, outside of the emotional impact of the loss. Or things simply sharpen in focus, maybe. Not so blurry around the edges.

At least they do for me.

And our lives, it seems to me, are very blurry around the edges. Why is that, I wonder? Why is it so difficult to see into the quick of things?

    Again, at least for me.

And enough of the philosophical musings.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the still dark earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep knowing that things
are a little clearer and the
    center still holds.

    Wake up in the light.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

The planned book burning that turned our town into a media frenzy didn't occur (who really thought it would?) but nonetheless cost our city police force big bucks. We had a game today and security was increased there, too. As well as drawing well meaning people, both pro and con, it also brought some certifiable (imo) nuts to town, so I guess the big bucks were well spent.

I am not particularly a football fan, but when the Gators play, I do like to have it on. When the announcers get hysterical I watch it, otherwise, it just plays in the background.

Who teaches those announcers how to perform, anyway? Is there a special announcer's school? They all do that hysterical thing...from horse race announcers to the local Little League announcers (when there is one). Horse race announcers, though, also have that rapid monotone drone at the start of the race, unlike most of the others. Announcer is probably not the right word.

My mind gets bizarre sometimes. I wonder what it would be like to have a woman with a very sexy and sultry voice do the football announcing (not for the Gators, though...not in this town)? I suppose that would be the equivalent of hearsay, not to speak of p.i.c. sexism. Make a good youtube video, though.

Ah, I must be bored...or something...to be thinking along those lines.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

Be glad that grieving for one loss
appears to be over while the other
rages on and sleep as well as you can.

Wake up and think about which cat
friendly flowers to plant come spring.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

    G'Night.

I would actually start watching sports if that were to happen. Actually, it has already happened, sort of, without the female sultry and sexy voice. Marv Albert was a sports announcer that got caught wearing women's underwear and a garter with a Lawrence Taylor (New York Giants linebacker) look-alike transvestite in a dress and wig, singing show tunes at the Regal Royale Hotel in New York City. Marv went to jail for BITING the transvestite's BACK several times during foreplay, LOL!

    "Yyyyeeeeesssssss!!"

I was thinking a little more um graphically than that. Kinda like how women are probably thinking when watching anyway. Maybe.

    Not politically correct at all.

Apologies to all you football aficionados out there.

That's EXACTLY the only time I watch football, so the woman thinks she needs to find a way to distract me. It helps that I kill the tv instantly and attack. It doesn't help if she knew that was the plan.

    Sunday afternoons.

Didn't know you were that devious. And what will the green one say?

When she was Meleny she was pretty agreeable, if a little chatty. Now she just takes what she wants, when she wants it. I guess the children will be 1/4 orc, 1/4 human, half exhausted.

Not from THAT, from all the housework. :asleep:

I keep telling you...the green one is a mean one. You never listen. Soon you'll be singing, "That green, mean mama blues."

I hope you had a good day and the night has gone well.

I am tired. I am going to bed.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sigh when you lay down
    and see all the negativity
    collected throughout the
    day escape.

Inhale and draw in the light.

    Repeat as needed until you
    fall asleep.

    Wake up with better lungs,
    at least.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

I hope you have a good day and the night went well.

I submitted the 'Falling' thing I wrote for publication at a local literary magazine and it was not selected, in part because I did not have the correct format, in part because they consider it poetry and it is too long for their poetry section.

Poetry. Last thing I would call it, but then what do I know? I guess because there is no plot and no dialogue, that's the only classification it fits in. I just call it a word picture. Not much market for those, I guess.

They wanted a MS Word format and I refuse to use MS Office. I use OpenOffice instead, which is supposed to be compatible.

They were nice about it, and encouraged me to keep trying.

One swallow does not a summer make.

Took me a long time to understand that phrase, in fact the first time I heard it (on an IQ test...no comments please) I couldn't make any sense out of it at all. I turned it upside down, inside out, every way I could think of, and it just did not make sense. I got the others, the rolling stone, the birds of a feather, etc. I had to ask after the test was over.

It is one of my defects, I think. Or blind spots. Whatever. I tend to forget that phrase every time I experience something that seems significant or could be interpreted as a reflection on my worth. So, experience-wise I relearn it over and over.

You would think learning it once would be enough. Some of us are very hard headed, indeed.

To all who sleep (or will) tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

Trace the scars on your leg,
faint though they are, and be
    glad you have something tangible
to remember from the one with
the claws that put them there.

Sweet William. Take the image of
his intelligent talking eyes with you
as you fall asleep and maybe you'll
get to spend some time with him in
    your dreams.

Wake up and feel a little better.

    May the Lady smile
    on me and you too.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

I got a job I wanted, at the same agency, different shift, more hours. Lots of down time, and I think I can bring my own computer.

They are getting a good deal, but then so am I.

Now I have to quit smoking. Wish me luck, everyone! Although I want to quit (again, third time around), it seems to get harder each time and I am not exactly stress-free.

I plan to sleep a lot. Around the clock if necessary.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Sleep. And sleep.
    And sleep.

    Don't wake up
    too often. But
    do wake up.

    May the Lady smile
    on you and me too.

    G'Night.

You're made of stronger stuff than I am when it comes to quitting.

I still have huge trouble getting through day one. Even when the "saving tons of money" motivator is in high gear.

    Good Luck, O Queen.

BTW, please take out your irritability/agitations of GA. He's the one with the helmet and the green goddess, after all. He can take it. :poke:

I hope you have a good day and the night goes well.

Not much to say, since I slept most of the day. And will soon be asleep again.

The doctor gave me some sleeping pills. Hope they work.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the earth,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Keep sleeping.

    Wake up enough to
    eat,

Hope you're sleep is better than mines been that last few days.

Very vivid (and I mean vivid) dreams. Some quite disturbing, only a few not so much.

I had to ask J on Sunday morning if I was screaming between late Saturday/early Sunday. :twitch:
