In the latest version of the Circle of Eight Modpack NC, does anybody know for a fact whether:

    1. Are elves immune to ghoul paralysis? (like they are supposed to be in the role-playing game).

    2. Do charmed enemy NPCs/monsters give your party XP if they die while still charmed? Also, does it matter whether the enemy or one of your characters kills them in order for your party to get XP for their death?

    3. The game manual states:
"A cleric who chooses the Travel domain adds Survival to the list (of class skills)."
"A cleric who chooses the Trickery domain adds Bluff and Heal to the list (of class skills)."
"Every deity has a favored weapon and his or her clerics consider it a point of pride to wield that weapon. A cleric who chooses the War domain receives the Weapon Focus feat related to that weapon as a bonus feat. She also receives the appropriate Martial Weapon Proficiency feat as a bonus feat, if the weapon falls into that category."
"The power of a paladin's aura of good (see the Detect Good spell) is equal to her paladin level, just like the aura of a cleric of a good deity."
Apart from granting 1 domain spell for each spell level, do the cleric domains that a cleric picks grant any domain powers to the cleric? (like they are supposed to in the role-playing game). If so, what are the powers that each different domain bestows on the cleric?
    Domains:
    Air
    Animal
    Chaos
    Death
    Destruction
    Earth
    Evil
    Fire
    Good
    Law
    Luck
    Knowledge
    Magic
    Plant
    Protection
    Strength
    Sun
Travel (Survival as a class skill)
Trickery (Bluff and Heal as class skills)
War (Weapon Proficiency and Weapon Focus in deity's favoured weapon)
    Water

    4. Does the party's Spot and Listen skills have any effect on whether the party is surprised or ambushed by enemies, and do they have any effect on each character's initiative score at the start of combat?

    5. The "Circle of Eight Modpack 5.8.1 - Release Notes.txt" file states:
"Added a new quest from Burne to investigate Rannos and Gremag's assasination attempt."
I have been unable to trigger this new quest. I'm playing the Circle of Eight Modpack 5.8.1 NC. I've revealed the saboteur at the worksite for the new castle to Rufus and Burne. I've then told Gremag that I've told Rufus and Burne that Gremag and Rannos Davl were responsible for spying on/sabotaging the worksite. Gremag and Rannos told me that they are now being constantly watched by the town guard, and that they won't sell items to me any more. I've cleared every zone in the game except that I haven't spoken to every person in Hommlet (and hence, I haven't done every quest within Hommlet involving the local townsfolk), I'm about a third of the way through clearing out the Moathouse Respawn, and I have not travelled to The Temple of Elemental Evil yet. Some days have passed since I first revealed to Gremag and Rannos that I dobbed them in to Rufus and Burne. I have completed all of the quests that are in my logbook (i.e. they are all green coloured).
    What triggers this new quest?

A lot of those domains allow you to turn or rebuke elementals, and plants does the same thing for plants, but all have very limited uses in this game.

On R & G, you have to sell them a piece of Larath's equipment so they know he's dead, heh heh, even if he is in your party when you visit them.

Specifically, you have to sell something of Lareth's to the traders in Hommlet (Rannos and Gremag), then be attacked by the assassin in retribution, then go see Burne about it before confronting R&G. It's not real sophisticated - he'll just tell you to go talk to them - but at least he's reacting to it, with audio, instead of the normal "I don't give a damn" reaction most ToEE NPCs have to significant events.

    6. When Mona offers you the choice of selecting one thing from a list (such as "humour where you least expect it", "a challenging adventure", etc.), exactly what effect (if any) does each option have in your game?

    7. Will characters that I generated in version 5.8.1 of the Circle of Eight Modpack (i.e. the Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\modules\ToEE\players\name.ToEEPC files) be compatible to bring into a game of the upcoming version 5.9 Modpack?

    8. I've never finished this game before. Am right in believing that in the original computer game, when you killed Zuggtmoy, the game ended, so that you couldn't continue to play the game after you killed Zuggtmoy? If so, when you kill Zuggtmoy while playing the latest Circle of Eight Modpack NC, does the game end, preventing you from continuing to play the game after you've killed Zuggtmoy?

The whole Mona thing has been changed so i'd wait for 5.9. You can save the players file to MyDocuments and put it in the new mod. If they had any custom portaits, they will be gone.
Defeating Zuggutmoy has always been the endgame feaure. There is no gameplay after it.

    6. That's all actually been restored to vanilla now ...

    - humor makes Ted, Ed, and Ed available
    - riches makes a wealthy merchant available
    - can't remember the others atm.

    7. They should be, but it's generally best not to cross-contaminate two modpacks.

    8. Yes.

    9. I'm having great difficulty in killing Bodaks before they instantly kill one or more of my characters. Can anybody suggest tactics that they use to kill Bodaks that minimizes the risk of them killing any of your characters?

    10. I've completed both of those 2 quests but Tarim (the woodcutter) won't offer to sell me any items. Have those items been removed from the game? If not, what triggers Tarim to offer to sell the items mentioned above?

A high level cleric can turn the bodacks.
Otherwise surround them with summoned creatures and use magic missiles or keep tripping them.

You need to save his daughter's life. You need tpo get the swamp lotus and give it to Jaroo and then talk to Tarim. Don't ask for a reward, choose the other dialog option and he will tell you he has a cousin in Verbobonc that will sell you some items on the cheap. It takes a while for them to come through.

Also, to kill bodacks, you want your cleric to throw a spiritual weapon so they target that and you can pound them down from afar.

    10. Tarim actually isn't selling any of that stuff nowadays. Somehow that whole scenario became rather bugged, and we had been trying to reduce uber items in the game anyway, so it was removed as a temporary band-aid, if you will. It will probably get looked at again and re-implemented with the bugs removed and the uber scaled down eventually.

Thanks in general to everybody who has replied to my posts. You are generous people. I've enjoyed reading your posts and you've been teaching me heaps about this little gem of a game (like how the spell Magic Missile actually works).

Thanks for all of the great advice about the best ways to take on the Bodaks. Those tips hold true for all of the really tough monsters/NPCs. I still have flashbacks of Lord Hungous hacking his weapon down on my fighter for 50+ HP damage, cleaving my fighter into two halves.

I had a look at the ToEE World Builder. There's no way that I could create new content with it. You'd need to be a programmer with a professional photo editing suite to be able to use it.

Ya, like Ted, Gaear, Ranth, Aegetian and all other Co8'ers I cannot recall right now, especially Darkstorm. I can't even read his posts he makes talking about modding, let alone mod anything.

I'd say World Builder is pretty darn user-friendly, really. Just gotta take the time to understand a few concepts (like what the coordinates are for) and its straight-forward.

I'll add a layer of user-friendly tools later on. While it's definitely a priority, the new engine needs to be done first ;-)

Would it be possible to uninstall the Co8 Modpack 5.8.1 NC from my computer after doing that? If so, how do I uninstall the Co8 Modpack 5.8.1 NC?

    12. So far, I've found that:
Slashing weapons do less damage against skeletons, and split ochre jellies into 2.
Piercing weapons do less damage against skeletons.
Bludgeoning weapons do less damage against zombies.

Which of the three types of weapon damage is the best to use in this game? Why? Which is the worst? Why?
