I was just reading my normal daily co8 forums and I had an epiphany. Now granted I don't know if this could be done with TOEE, but maybe someday someone would do this or some company or what ever. What if you made a program that put all of the current 3.5 D&D rules and any other updated legal rules that are out there, into one program. All of the monster manual, players handbook and everything in this program and a "module" so to speak with it. Then every rule and monster and character type and so forth would already be there for the user to use in the game. It would be like having a computerized version of the game and the person or company that did this could sell other modules that would go with this game. Plus if they decided to make it open source so that the user could make their own modules just like everyone can with graph paper and the books that you can buy today. I know this would involve a lot of work, but if it were done and I know that it could. Playing computer D&D would be way more awsome. Whoever did this would need all the time that they would need to do this so that it could be done right of course. Of course this maybe just wishful thinking, but I think that it would be very cool if it were done and done right.
This idea... ...is a good one. One that many of us have been hoping for for quite some time now. The discussion has been pretty wide ranging, but suffice it to say, a lot of us have been hoping for a sequel to ToEE in the form of one of the other old super modules like Slavers or Queen of the Spiders. If the rules & tools existed, you'd have seen some of these things done, ala the NWN modules. I for one have been saying for a looong time now that the money for a developer is just waiting to be made.
I have actualy been wanting to do this for a long time, just never realy gotten around to start with anything. heh... just like me. but a friend of me did something like this once i belive, think it was just text based tho, not sure.
Ted, how are we coming with this? or is it just lost to antiquity? oke: Because it would be pretty cool. Is all of the 3.5 hardbound books going to be included with KoTB?
Necro, damnit, you're living up to your name I'm still hoping for someone to do the RttTOEE on TOEE engine.
Sorry, Necro, KotB will be true to the original Basic module. Leather, Chain and Plate only. Shopkeepers use electrum. No spells above 3rd level, 3 alignments, 'Elf' is a class. It just makes it so much easier
I had a look at the module and was supprised of how little RrrToEE actually featured TOEE. Only the main temple map (the foyer bit with the chair) and the fire node are used. Homlett had grown so much it would need a map change. (To include the extra temples ect). Only nulb and the moathouse remaining relatively intact with only a few more underground maps needed. The main reason why I don't think it'll be done is due to the shear size of the module, it is indeed an entire campaign. The orgional TOEE module is ment to end roughly at level 8; RttTOEE ends at 14. A lot of work.
