That's how we end up with those kobold-green dragon mixers. Ugly little farts—a green kobold, yuck! Now that would be fun, charm monster on a troupe of kobolds and make it permanent. A possible interesting story line for future consideration. I do love the little stinky's sooo much!

Just where on this site are the graphics stored? I recall seeing the splash screen for the opening of the ToEE / Co8 mod. I looked in the file structure on my drive and can only find pieces of it (see below). I need it to play with... For that matter I need the various maps as well and can only find bits and pieces on my drive.

This site's search engine leaves a lot to the imagination necessitating me asking such questions. No reflection on the moderators, administrators and the whole group, but the searching sucks to no end.

The Lamia seems to cast permanent charm.

What I mean is that I start healing them and rescuing them from suicide run-ins.

I only do that for meatshields with character (Smigmal etc). Can't say I can feel attachment to "Generic Bugbear #14" in the same way.

I'm going to have to try some if this after 5.8 comes out. So I understand this. There is a way in the game to permanently charm monster some of the NPCs and the like? Or am I misunderstanding this?

If you find a child's toy you can use it to summon a lamia which casts a perment charm spell on npc's it is fighting, if you are lucky.
However you can't get rid of them and they may cause every other npc to attack on sight.

The bug mentioned = cheating. The way I do it is recast the charm spell every time after rest. You just gotta make sure you don't rest at inns, you've gotta do it in your nulb house or the Moathouse tower. Gotta use teleport too, though, otherwise they'll "disappear" when you travel.

I'm not sure irs cheating after all there are comsequences for taking the npcs into your party just like using the giant or troll king from the temple.

Ahhh, the days when a familiar was enough to satisfy. Or perhaps a blink dog (good) or a displacer beast (evil) for your character to play with. And yeah, I had a displacer beast as a familiar back in the days of PnP when the rules were much, much simpler. I maxed out at 2.0 which just goes to show my age. That character ended up being the mistress of a pack of hell hounds and was the majoy baddy in my world of delusion. Of course that was when a dwarven magic-user was unheard of.

LOL! Reminds me of the Gems party way back when, that ran through Icewind Dale I with a party of permanently 1st level gnomes...

I can vouch for dwarf wizards-VERY nice to have wizards with a lot of hit points. I had one wizard get attacked quite a few times a hit job payed for by boots without dying. Dwarf wizard + maxed CON + toad familiar gives you a spell caster with a fighter's hit points.

Not sure what is meant by Doodad, though the other classes sound like a fun combination for a party.

As I alluded to in the beginning of this thread, I just LOVE dwarfs. Their geniality towards their own while still remaining somewhat offish to others (until accepted) suits my style of life and my outlook on the same. This is reminiscent of the Amish and Mennonite religious sects of North and South America.

One of my favorite characters from R. A. Salvatore's works is Pikel Bouldershoulder (the Dwarven Doo-dad). I still fondly recall when I first read the Cleric Quintet series of books that I started laughing and could not stop for several minutes. More because it sort of shocked me, coming from the days of AD&D 1st Edition. Imagine! A dwarven druid — what has the world come to!

Not wanting to say more as I would likely screw it up, I will let someone over at Wikia explain. Another nicely written on-line offering can be found here. I am not in any way affiliated with either site.

OP... that is an EPIC party :p
Now I want to do that... followed by all gnome party, all half-orc party, all halfling party...
oooh, or a party of gnome monks :p (yea, monks suck, but it will be hillarious... i guess multiclass monks... a monk/wizard, a monk cleric, and some straight monks).

No need for an all elf party though... bah those sissies...

Now that would work. Jump up and kick 'em in the knee caps. It would likely take thirty or so of the little snits ;) to kill a hill giant, given several days. Now wouldn't that paint a pretty picture.

On the lighter side, how about a troupe of gnome monks hired to clean out a cavern system of kobolds led by a hill giant?

well... the biggest problem with monks is that weapon crafting is so awesome... And that they don't stand a chance of bypassing some DR without enchanted weapons I think. Which also means, no unarmed strike :(

But just for the heck of it it would be interesting. A party of Gnomish monks has possibilities, agreeably limited, that could pose an interesting party mix. And I agree with the comment on having a party of Elves, been done.

Once their fists turn into Lawful wpns, they can bypass DR actually... At that point, I'd say monks still do worse then fighters or pallys but better than melee rangers.
