The 2.0 crack is always considered a thread trojan. I's sick and tired of this shit. Who coded that effing thing? Mitnick? For anyone, to think that 33kb is going to be a reasonable thing to leave in just the exe file and think it's gonna be alright I say **** you. These things are considered the main threats by any system. So my question is: any way to get ToEE to run with the image and no crack? I hate putting in original cds in there and I'd like to run the game with the co8th mod for a little bit, maybe like it. EDIT: I'd also want to see this screen in the menu than the panning one too
There might be a couple ways you might try, but I would maybe run it past someone more versed in coding than I. With some older games, no new ones, you could copy the whole freaking disk onto your hard drive and run the install from there so that it always goes to the hard drive to look for the .EXE when you wanted to play. I do not know if ToEE is able. If it's .ISO, then it's no go, as .ISO needs the disc, I believe. Also, way back in the dawn of time, we used to run games strictly from memory. I'm a little foggy on this because it was a long time ago and my buddy set all of it up for the rest of us because he's a developer nerd that thinks in binary. Also, it was with older games, like all the DOOMs, Hexen, Heretic, Duke Nukem, Witchhaven, etc., so this also may not be viable. Just throwing those out there, maybe some good could come of it. Get some of these Co8ers to code a disk hack right into the mod!
The Trojan warning is a well known and well discussed issue here. It should not affect game play or the like and can be ignored. However, if that's not the case, try disabling your AV software while you play.
I'd be happy if someone could code that into the ToEE mod so that it doesn't piss me off. The game still runs with the 3.0 crack on top of the 2.0 patch with the co8 mod, but friggin broken in all aspects. Magic missile has 511 shots at lvl1. O_O Why was the menu screen changed??? I wanted to be able to see that menu! I first read the manual and was so freakin dissapointed when I didnt see that figure with the golden skull. =(
What? It's a reasonable fix. The guy who cracked the 2.0 should be shot. Anyway, the thing works ok now I just can't open the folder of the game, since it triggers the antivirus to kill the exe. Oh well. Maybe the next BitDefender won't be so picky.
as a lot of people have noticed, its can be virtually impossible to play the game with the original CD's without a crack.
I wonder why. Usually some image-makers can capture the 100% identical and some can't, so I'm guessing my nero .nrg files are a bunch of shit, but I don't think at this point that it can be changed to the better anyway. Alcohol 120% was nice for its time, as well as the CloneCD copies (worked like a charm in my earlier years of being 1337 at the pc). Oh well, the thing is harmless enough, though I need to keep it in an archive reference for it to work.
