I think you've got major problems.
When you open the second chest you should get a message about a treasure at rainbow rock. Then you go automatically to the opening shot of Hommlet.
Try starting a new game or doing a clean install

Ya have opened the secound chest by any mean that not direct open lock? Open that thing with open/close or knock makes the game to stuck. Ya need to open manually to get the message.

I got it to go just now. I brought in a specialized thief with nimble fingers, picked the door and then the chest and there was much rejoicing, except that it's hotter than a rattlesnake's taint here in Duluth, MN right now. It's 73! We're dying up here!

Ugh! There are no quests / puzzles etc even remotely that difficult / smart in ToEE anywhere.

    There should be

So, I'm the man who does everyone else's work for them. I rescued Paida because Valden's too much of a chicken$#!% to go get her. It was night when I lugged her into Hommlet. I figured, "ok, Valden will be in there getting hammered with everyone else and I can complete the quest." WRONG!

As soon as I stepped through the freaking door, the whole bar went hostile on me, including Valden! I reloaded it but not before I made Valden kill his own WIFE! Lol. No one even knows The Green Coconut except Valden and he attacked her because she was closest and naked. What a loser he must be. Attacking a naked defenseless woman. If an attractive naked woman walked into a bar I was at, the LAST thing I would be thinking about is attacking and killing her. :dribble: But perhaps not. I've never been married or divorced.

Also, there should be a quest for The Curry Leaf if Paida gets one. I mean, if Hedrak thought enough about her to dominate her and keep her around as a love slave, I'm sure there's someone out in the world that wants her back.

Well, on second thought, maybe not. No matter how attractive someone is, someone, somewhere, is sick and tired of putting up with their $@%!.

Actually if you go through the dialog with Curry Leaf, you will find she is actually in love with Hedrack. She is not dominated in any way. But, that does not stop her from having a little on the side. Try different male members of your party with her by selecting the join under the sheets dialogue option. The results are enlightening. But if she rejects your advances and you take advantage of her you get a new interesting reputation.

I wonder if curry leaves are supposed to be the same thing in Greyhawk as it is here on earth. Or perhaps what they call curry leaf, we would call cannabis?

    Naming your consort after pot?

Hmm... I wonder if my J would mind that?

Who knows? She could have a nice, calming, relaxing effect on poor stressed out Hendrack.

There is something that disturbs me greatly. I've been hanging around the upper levels, 17-20, and this one thing I have noticed, along with many others...Disintegrate does not work on trolls, ever. Ever. Ever.

I've killed everything in the game hundreds of times, and the trolls have to be coming up on a thousand. At no time did I ever successfully disintegrate a troll, not for lack of trying. I think they must have a racial immunity to disintegrate because it works on everything else, except demons, Iuz and Zuggtmoy. Either that or there is some forgotten coding in the disintegration vs. trolls script. As a matter of fact, you would think that this wouldn't be an on purpose type of thing because you want to make double sure that no part of the troll is left to regenerate.

To the circle of eight, if you are adding any beholders to TotWC, I kinda feel that they should pretty much be immune to disintegrate, what with having their own natural eye power and all and they probably made a couple slips of the eye when they were carving out a cave to live in and whatnot.

I have just encountered the greatest inconsistency of all inconsistencies. The mother of all inconsistencies! Never, ever before, since the game came out, have I ever been able to one shot the guardian balor in the fire node, until now. It took the power of the mod to do it for me.

I mosied in there with my chaotic neutral party of 5 PCs and 2 NPCs, Meleny and Ziaxis, all 16th level. I buffed everybody, sat everyone in the front left corner and sent the two tanks up to start the dialog. The fight was on!

My 2nd string tank, Leatherface, 2-handing the bastard sword of midnight hit the balor 5 times right in the mush for about 100 damage or so. Then, my extra super special mega god tank, BrockLesnar, with the 2-handed greatsword frost brand of chronic badasseyness winds up, brings the sword all the back from Texas, and does 3 spinning crits in a row for god knows how much damage. He didn't even get to finish his attack and he had 2 swings left! I didn't get to see the damage because it happened so fast. I'm sure it was in the thousands! The freaking balor didn't even have a chance to cast one of his loser fear spells or anything.

This may seem like a very small thing and I'm sure the console guys have done this many millions of times, but I don't use the console. This was just straight pure luck, playing the game without any tweaks, besides being 16th level and having all 50 proper feats that every awesome fighter should have, plus a couple other non combat affecting feats. I am pleased to have seen that because that balor has caused me much consternation and frustration before the mod came out. I hated that fight more than anything because I knew it was going to take 10 or 50 tries to kill him without losing anyone. Pre mod, it was easily the toughest fight in the game. Zuggtomoy is absolutely nothing and Hedrak is even less.

Life is good, and now it's time for a Red Stripe.

I have a really hard time believing such stories. Getting 7 people to 16th level is nigh impossible in a regulation game. The only time i've seen the balor hit with a weapon was with Scather. Your story sounds like overly consoled crap. I guess it's possible, but in almost 5 years of playing this game i've never came close to what you've stated. Just hard to believe.

That's fine, but if you play the game and master it without doing console cheats, then you would see I speak the truth. You've never hit the balor without Scather? That is hard to believe. You just go in there buffed up as much as you can and hope you get lucky.

How did your main tank get three critical hits in a row, and you dont know how much damage he did?

Not sure if you know this...but there's a log that keeps track of all that stuff for you...

Ya, I thought of that after the fact, but I never open that thing up and look at it. I was just happy that the balor went down like his mother did last night and I was busy basking in the afterglow of something never seen or recorded before in human history.

Anything's possible with the RNG. I was trying to test random encounters the other night and straightaway got a string of 20+ trips to Nulb/Moathouse/Temple/Hommlet without a single one. Being as REs seem to occur at a rate of maybe 75% likelihood per trip, this was a statistically remarkable (even wildly improbable) occurance. And of course, I can't make a single trip anywhere without a RE when I'm not testing them.
