I had a rotating array of 3 saves at once. First 2 of them went corrupt. I loaded the one good one and created 2 more. Then, all 3 went bad.

My question is this: are people noticing lots of save file corruption in 5.5 beta? If not I would guess this is normal TOEE screwiness gone especially bad. It's never worked so great in Vista for me anyway. That's the main reason I didn't put this in the bug-report thread.

    No, actually.

I can't think of anything in particular I did. Unless there's a specific known issue, I'm prepared to chalk it up to regular TOEE wonkiness.

Oh, I got fruella eaten by a giant frog on purpose and then i took her meat cleaver. Probably isn't relevant, but it is funny.

    Om nom nom nom.

Well, that regular ToEE wonkiness may have to do with a general issue, which is that inputting bad protos via the console has been shown to corrupt saves well after the fact. And a bad proto can be any number of seemingly innocuous things.

i actually came on today to report the same thing happening to me.

its actually really really annoying. since i completely lost a party cuz of it.

although for me when a save corrups, it only happens to the last slot i saved in, so im rotating and keeping my fingers crossed.

im not sure when you guys mean by "the console" to be honest.
and i cant think of anything awkward i may have done.
well... apart from killing otis cuz he wouldnt leave my party in the temple and i wanted some space.

........... on a related subject. i started a new game, and while i was picking stuff out of chests in the shopmap, i had to suddenly go out. so i exited the chest, saved and quit.

upon loading the savegame it would load up quite normally but then CTD after about 2 seconds of being in game.

not a massive deal cuz it was just the shopmap. but still.

sorry for the double post, but just a thought.... i really dont want to lose my party (avg level 11) to file corruption.....
by using the frontend-X option of backup saves, would they be save? i mean, say i backed up a save. then a day or so later it corrupted. would the restore saves option replace the corrupted version with the good version? (im aware anything id done int he meantime would be gone)

I'm note sure of you're using it, but DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES uses the Quick Save option. LOTS (if not all) of us, utilize 4-5 normal saves, rotating them as needed. An added benefit is that if you experience problems from one save, you have others to fall back on. If you save multiple times for multiple points/events in the game, it can give you the option of trying something different in variable outcome scenarios.

This has been reported quite a few times, especially right after 5.5 was released with the shopmap replacing the old caravan from 5.0.x. The best advice I can remember is simply do not save on the shopmap.

My bad. I completely forgot about that "saving on the shop map" issue. I did that too and suffered some grief. Sorry for the oversignt.

Nice save, Erkper. Wanna play for the Cubs? We could use a good "save" guy!

    The Cubs??? Eewww...

Even if I was still a MLB fan I wouldn't stoop to supporting the Cubs. I am... was... a Reds and Indians fan. (At least you can't accuse me of chasing winners. :shame:)

:raving:I decided I was done with the Major Leagues in the mid-90's when the series of strikes/lockouts convinced me that neither players nor management give a damn about the fans or the game, just how much money they can put in their own pockets. Nothing's changed to draw me back yet. I still love to go to minor-league games, though. Lots of love for the sport at that level. Go South Bend Silverhawks!:raving:

Yeah, yeah, whatever. I was born and raised on the NW side of Chicago, a lifetime Cubs fan. You CAN'T get my goat (pun VERY much intended) ragging on my team. :lalala:

I wholeheartedly agree. I live in Schaumburg, a NW suburb of Chicago and we have the Schaumburg Flyers minor league team. Their stadium's only a mile or so away so it's easy and affordable to go to the games. We've already got two scheduled in June.
