    Good Morning!

It is very warm this morning, will be hot this afternoon. A slight breeze moves through the live oaks, plays with my hair.

Quiet. No traffic noise. Most of the south is at church. Soon to swamp the restaurants en masse. One of the restaurants near here offers typical southern-style breakfast food in the buffet. Heavy on meat. The south lives on meat, mainly pork. Fried chicken. Standard southern fare. It surprised me when I first moved here how few eat vegetables. The growing season here is too short to support a wide range of vegetables.

    I must be hungry.

A good night, for me. I hope your night was goodl, too.

The birdbath must be empty of water, the birds drink from the hole in the live oak this morning. The neighbors have been gone for a couple of days, and the birdbath hasn't been refilled.

Even the birds are quiet this morning, likely because it is so late when I get up. I see some crows fly overhead, on their way to the lake most likely, but not much else except for the jays seeking water. They soon disappear into the leafy shade of the live oaks.

I hope your day goes well.

    Obsession

    Obsession is a curse,
    two times
it makes a link from mind to mind
it makes a link that ties and binds
    imagines
    what it finds,
    what it finds.

Ah, but the link that found,
    bound me
the link that left me so unsound
    lies broken now, the memory
    leaves me be
    I walk free,
    I walk free.

Into the night, I walk free.
Inside the light, I can see.
And now I know, I will be.
On a journey, to find me.

    Rain, rain, go away....

Ah well. Heavy downpours, T-Storms, and a day inside for us.

Saw "Sunshine Cleaners" last night. Damn good movie. Very believable and enjoyable characters. Cam home and watched yet another movie... this one "Dance of the Dead".
A VERY funny zombie flick with the great spin that the only ones who can save the day (and the HS prom) are the geeks and dorks who couldn't get into to the prom in the first place.
(Hey! Kinda like me! But I'm cooler. And have had girlfriends/wives!)

Even though the weather refused to "play nice" with us for this weekend, it was still very enjoyable.

Enjoy your day, or nights, as the case may be.

You know, the little guy in cam-ho's, T ? His first movie was "Sunshine Cleaners". His mom, L, and his Aunt K even teared up in a few places. I thought it was okay. T was bored and fussed. But, he was hanging with the Big Toy (me), so I was able to entertain him.

The Southwest wind blows strong, but gentle enough to enjoy. I close my eyes, face towards the wind and drink it in. It;s still warm, comfortably so, with the faint remnants of humidity lingering from the earlier storms. The Earth smells clean. Scrubbed fresh, It's invigorating.

Low in the West, a bright sliver of the new Moon slowly fades from view, alternative;y chasing and being chased by horizon and clouds together. A Pair of stars, almost perfectly parallel to each other, meet my gaze as I train my eyes directly overhead. "The eyes of God" I think to myself. Then I laugh. I'm a POLY theist. It should be the eyes of A god. Old habits (conditioning?) die hard.

It has been a relaxing, quiet Sunday. I've made progress on the book I'm reading, anticipating the arrival of two more books, and a Summer of wonderful. after-work, literary escape.

I've missed N, to be sure. No hugs. No "I love you, Dad"'s. But in a few days he's back. And he'll probably have grown so much in that week, as he has EVERY week since, that I'll hardly recognize him. That's OK. It's normal. Just as long as he doesn't outgrow me.

    At least, not yet.

For those whose week is about to begin. Let it start and continue to be a good and productive one.

For those whose week has already started, well, I hope it's gone well for you so far.

    Time is a tricky thing.

The light of the sun this morning brings the birdsong
echoing out of the leafy live oaks long before the birds
take wing. Shortly after, the squirrels leave their nests,
leap from tree to tree, down the branches and around
the trunks on their way to ground. Raising their faces,
the tiny flowers on the weeds in the lawn open to the
light, the first bees buzz through the air, butterflies dry
their wings, the pollen from the pines blow on the breeze.

Even as the sun makes a path, brings light to the earth
and pulls life along with it, when it falls to its death, so
does it drag the dark down the same path, and all the
things that live in the night.

It is all connected, so say those who see such things
as a chain, a tapestry, part of the great plan.

But there are things that have no connection I can see,
    no purpose, make no sense.

If there is a chain, then some of the links are broken,
if a tapestry, some of the threads have come unwoven,
great holes in the beauty, worm eaten.

I cannot see how things that eat beauty, and break the
interconnected chain can fit in the great plan; it is
    beyond my comprehension.

The day begins, the morning is well on its way.
I hope you had a good night and have a good day.

Fair to good day today, despite the lack of sleep I've had.

I hope you had a good day and are having a good night.

To all who go to sleep tonight on this side of the planet,

    The Nightly Mission:

Smile at someone you love tonight,
or at the memory if you have nothing else.
Remember the good things that you had
together and let the light come into your heart.

You'll sleep better and feel better, too.

And when the morning comes tapping on your
    shoulder, give it another smile.

    G'Night

    Good Morning!

I caught up on some sleep last night and feel much more centered this morning.

A work day for me, today.

Shining through the live oaks, the sun is bright this morning and it promises to be warm today. Here, in the South, they call temperatures 'warm' that I am accustomed to term 'hot.' In the 80's. No clouds.

Last night I swear I heard an alligator bellow, which is strange. The only water close by is the overflow pond that catches the rain water off the highway. It retains standing water, actually fairly deep, all year around, but I hardly think an alligator would be happy there. But then there are tales of alligators winding up in swimming pools, so I guess it is possible.

No hawks in sight this morning. I am coming to believe that the neighbor woman who knows everything that happens around here, is wrong about the hawks. Or they have moved to another area.

Lots of bluejays, no sight of the cardinals. Squirrels abound.

I hope you had a good night.

May you have a wonderful day, full of light.

Apparently I slept so hard last night that I missed all the excitement in the neighborhood.
My neighbor says a man chased a woman right through my yard. He had a club. Lots of
law enforcement responded. Didn't find either one. It is believed that the man and woman were not from our neighborhood.

I am somewhat concerned that I slept through it. Doesn't say much for my level of alertness. Shouldn't let myself get that tired, I guess.

Tonight is warmish again. But overcast. The birds and nasty squirrels were all perched and nested before I got home from work.

    It is blissfully quiet outside.

I hope you had a good day.

And that the beginning of the night went well, also.

And that the rest of the night brings you joy.

To all who go to sleep on this side of the world,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Conjure up a memory
bring it home to your heart.
Let it sing you to sleep.

Wake in the morning to the light.

    G'Night!

Sleeping soundly is a good thing. You probably awoke briefly, and went back to sleep, remembering nothing. If the noise had continued, instead of just passing by, you probably would have woken fully.

It IS good to have a plan for eventualities, though.

    A Knight in the Night

    The knight in black armor
    who pursues me
    stands, waits at
    the crossroad
    I am frozen
    I stand still
    lose my will

    The knight in black armor
    who pursues me
    calls to me
    in the night
    his voice is deep
    I hear it
    in my sleep

    The knight in black armor
    who pursues me
    he takes me
    he holds me
    within his arms
    and his arms
    they are warm

    The knight in black armor
    who pursues me
    he tells me
    he wants me
    inside his heart
    says he will
    not depart

    The knight in black armor
    who pursues me
    bends his head
    takes my life
    he slakes my soul
    and I say
    I will stay
