Woah. I didn't make the morning.
    Not my time, anyway.

But Good Morning or Afternoon to you, today.

I go to the movies this evening and will
    eat ice cream afterwards.

So it should be a good day for me.

I hope it is good for you, too.

Actually, it makes being a parent (especially a Dad) even more fun. It's neat to mess with you kid and his friends minds a little bit.

Better late than never I suppose.....

Busy but great day yesterday. Up early and got a good slew of inside and outside errands done before J and N even crawled out of bed. In fact both were still asleep when I got back from grocery shopping. (Man, they have a good life!)

Took the time to change the car's oil, pass my emissions test and get haircuts for me and N.
N's got a good buzz cut for the Summer (his Mom's gonna LOVE that!) and I just got a quick trim before I start looking too shaggy (and not in a good way). Even got N's bike 2/3's fixed. Missing the right sized Allen wrench to adjust the handle bars. Poor N is stretching his arms near out of their sockets trying to ride it. Yet another trip to the hardware store....

J and I took N and a bunch of his friends to the ark for awhile. Lot of other kids there ranging from wee little ones to Jr High age. Listening to the older ones conversations (especially the girls) was somewhat eye opening. We're we that "naughty" at that age? I know I was, and maybe J, but WOW. I'm nowhere near a being a prude, chaste, or anything of the like, but eyebrows were raised. J remarked that it seems that nothing changes when it comes down to conversations at that age.

Watched a nail biter of a Cubs game against St. Louis. Had the Saturday afternoon beer (Happy B-Day again Allyx!) and a nice dinner at our favourite Thai place.

Today, is a relax day. Coffee, newspaper, (yes, and laundry) and a nice turkey dinner later on.

Hope your day is going good as well and continues to do so.

The one with Russell Crowe and Ben Afleck.

A friend has opened up an icecream shop. With regular homemade ice cream and vegan ice cream, plus other homemade goodies. I don't know what type I'll get, but if she has maple nut, that will be it. I've never found that ice cream here anywhere. Or strawberry. I love strawberry ice cream, too.

I'll report when I get back.

I am calling today, the Day of the Unsightful Thing

I saw a squirrel catch and eat a bird.
It was very gross. I will spare you the details.
Squirrels are now on my list of hateful things.

I saw some bluejays drive away the hawk.
    I hope it comes back.

May I suggest you add the perfect ingredient on a Sunday afternoon trip to the ice cream place? Little people.

It was a pretty afternoon, and for lunch I had chinese with little A (guess she's just A, now) and M & M. The place was crowded, so we ate outside in the gorgeous weather. There's nothing like eating with 2 little girls who insist on eating with chopsticks just like me.

Wow. I've never heard or seen such a thing. What kind of squirrel? Was it a small/injured/baby bird? Natural world, not morbid, curiousity asking here.

Be careful walking anywhere near their nest. Their MANIACALLY territorial. :yikes::dead:

I've seen what their capable of, back when we had a bird feeder. :nervous:

It's a shame you live so far away. I could send you a pint of my homemade ice cream!

All natural ingredients (sometimes the high end ones, if budget allows) and the slow "make your own custard" method. Regular and dark chocolate I've mastered. Strawberry's next. Vanilla will ONLY be attempted when I decide(remember) to but whole vanilla beans. Pricey but worth it.

Hear! Hear! Our local place is set on the Schaumburg Village Green. A beautiful place anytime of year, but especially in the Spring and Summer. Walking around the pond, eating ice cream, watching the little people play in the fountain. A truly soul-healing experience! Besides, they make the best damn hut fudge sundaes I've ever had!

*Jealous* Our weather was windy and rainy. Cooler, but not that annoying 40 degree type cold. N's a huge fan of Chinese and Thai, with some reason for an 8 year old whose tastes are changing quicker than J and I can keep up. Give N a plate of satay chicken and watch out. In fact, as of last night, satay ANYTHING for that kid!

It was a grey squirrel. Plain old grey squirrel.

It was a full grown bluejay. The jay swooped down to I assume peck the squirrel, and the squirrel jumped up and bit into the bluejay and didn't let
go. More ensued. Apparently squirrels like brains. Like I said, it was very gross.

I went with a friend and saw State of Play with Russell Crowe and Ben Afleck. I love Russell Crowe. It was very good. I'd like to get the sound track.

Some movies coming up that sound good, also. One with Johnny Depp
about a gangster and a new Star Trek film. I'm not a trekkie, don't even know how to spell it, heh, but I'd like to see it. (You could say I'm a Deppie, though.)

The ice cream was very good, as well. I had strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries and balsamic vinegar. She's going to make my all time favorite, maple nut, soon and will call me when she does.

No little people along, this was a big people outing.

So it has been a very good night.

I hope you had a good night, too.

To all who will sleep tonight on this side of the world,

    The Nightly Mission:

    Life is for learning.
    It always matters,
    whether you will it
    to or no.

    Lessons can come hard
    and fast, kick your ass,
    and take a long time
    to let go.

    And life never cares.
    It is only those
    with a heart who care,
    if they know.

    Sleep safe and sound tonight
and wake up in the light.

    G'Night!

    Likes brains? Zombie Squirrel.

I've seen the trailer for the Depp movie. Popular bank robber in the '30's: John Dillinger.

The Star Trek movie is some sort of alternative history thing with the original characters. Meh.

Great. Another zombie menace for me to worry about. As if the normal walking dead weren't bad enough.

Haven't seen the Dillenger trailer, but looking forward to seeing the movie. J's a HUGE Depp fan as well. He's one of the celebrity's that we agrered to give each other a pass to, if ever propositioned by them. Mine's Elisha Dushku. :eyebrow:

Alternative history for Star Trek? Damn! I must have REALLY missed that one! Think I might have been caught up in the excitement, when I wathced the trailer.

A very nice, albeit WET Sunday.

Productive but with enough time to get some good Fallout 3 playing time in. There's definitely going to be a run on the Super Mutant population when I'm through expolring the ruins of Washington DC!.

N even got a little game time in of his own, playing through LEGO Batman with his customized guys, whcih according to him are "Really powerful and cool, Dad!" One guy looks like he's wearing a tuxedo, with a balck cape and a policeman's cap.

Sunday dinner was amazing, even if I do say so myself! A nice roasted turkey breast, homemade mashed potatos, and fresh steamed green beans. All by yours truly. It had to've been good as N's plate was cleaned before I realized it!

A new week begins. May it be peaceful and productive for all!
