1 door SE from the inn is a trader, look around his shop for a bulletin board with quests on it. Now my question: How do you skin a wolf?
This is a serious question, no? Is it something in the game? It must be. I do know how to skin a fox. (More jokes are coming up over that, I'll bet.) Is this a joke, maybe? I hope it's a joke.
A strange thing though - not every wolf or bear has a skin, apparently. I only saw it once, and failed to skin it properly too >__< Now, this mod is reeeeally nasty about money -there is just never enough!
Yeah that was a report in the beta-testing: I may tweak that area when I release the bug-fixes. (Albeit there are a couple of very nice Easter Eggs). Skinning wolves - based on Survival, anyone can do it (though as GA82 said, Druids, Rangers and assorted hippy-types have the edge there). There is a 'poacher's knife' that grants a +2 bonus but I don't think you can get it except via console. Yet. Other things beside wolves can be skinned, but be careful - they bite :flamed: EDIT: Scryler, if you didn't know about the noticeboard, you haven't read the Player's Guide. Bad girl!
You are right. I'm a very bad girl. I didn't even know there was a Player's Guide. Tsk Tsk So...now, I'll read it.
Any idea how high a survival slill? I got a barbarian with a 7, but no luck. I had several tries, got 4 on a random encounter.
I had an encounter with about 15 wolves, and my 2/3 rogue/ranger with a survival skill level of 5 was successful skinning about half of them.
Small suggestion, just like skinning the wolves, you should be able to get the ham hock the waitress in the tavern sells from the wild boars with the appropriate survival skill level.
Yeah its a thought. I have vague plans that you can distract animals with those things: once i implement the whole 'clerics / druids / rangers can fall' idea, then getting past animals without butchering them will become a real issue. And of course, someone besides your tree-hugger will have to take Survival, because trading in animal pelts will be a sin Otherwise its a straight d20 vs Survival skill. I should probably set something like DC 10 for it instead, and add some modifiers for this and that...
did you say that not every skinable animal drops a pelt because I don't think they should - like that bear you just maximed, empowered fireballed while the barbarian/rogue rage powerattack/sneak attack crited it for like 9000hp, I don't think it would have much of a skin left.
Trading in pelts should probably be considered a sin for druids/rangers (at least, non-evil ones) but I don't think skinning them in and of itself should. You rationalize pretty much the same thing when you have the PC conversation with Bratec - skins and wooden weapons are renewable resources, etc. Unfortunately there's no NWN-style crafting in ToEE to take advantage of animal skins in any way other than by selling them. At least, I haven't found any other use for them yet...
