    The chit-chat app ... used to be quite active here back in the day. Real-time Internet Relay Chat. You can get there via the 'Chat" dropdown menu at the top of the page. Co8 has it's own channel.

    Huh? I just tried it - still there. And you don't have to pay anything. :scratchhe

    Did you select either JavaChat or JavaChat (Popup)? It should happen automatically, although I believe you have to have Java installed.

    The first time I tried JavaChat, I got a ctd. You have to pay for mIRC.

    JaveChat worked just now, though...

    I don't think you need to worry ... it's just allowing the plugin to do its thing so the app works. That plugin only, and only for as long as you're on.

    It was quite popular here before and no one ever complained of any unpleasant side effects. In fact, here's your biggest endorsement: Agetian used to use it all the time. :)

    It just sort of fell out of fashion. Many of the people who used to frequent it left.
