It appears that this thread is over (does that mean the 'silly season' is also over?), but just for the record...I asked a friend who is astute at sizing up people IMO, whether I was a romantic or not, and my friend said: "You are a realist who dabbles in flights of fancy with romance." So there you go.

I use my realism and practicality to make my romanticism possible.

My son was born at one of the worst times in my life, simultaneously increasing the burden and making it the best time in my life.

That's actually kind of a nice sounding thing, scryler.

There was more, but it was: 1) a little too personal and 2) not quite as flattering.

Neat, sounds like it could be found inside a fortune cookie!

BTW, love your avatar portrait. Is that your own creation?

Okay, we're going to make a new rule for this thread: if you post teasers about your experiences or outlook regarding the thread subject, you will be obligated to hold forth on those matters if someone asks you to. That's the whole point here, to 'discuss' this stuff, after all. ;)

So, I would like to hear what the rest of your friend's analysis was, Scryler. And we're all of course still waiting to hear maggit's account of the new year's party, which request he has not yet dignified with even a short answer.

Don't worry (and this goes for everybody); you don't have to tell us your real name or that of any other player in your story, nor do you have to share your social security number (or whatever your country's identifying digits are called) or date of birth or home address or anything like that. This means that no one is going to get any closer to revealing your true identity and using the newly gained information against you in any way. (Which sinsiter motive we must all be afraid of, apparently.)

What do we really know about each other here, after all, and what really are the risks of sharing? For example, HK is a guy from Brazil, I believe it is. If he tells us that he once had a girlfriend for whom he cared a great deal, will that somehow lead me to say "A-ha! Now I know ... he is Miguel Cabrera, hiding out in the northern foothills! I will at once set in motion my scheme to blackmail him out of all his money so that I don't tell the world his horrible secret and ruin him forever!"

So, if I know virtually nothing about, let's say, Scryler, will that change in any meaningful way if I learn that her friend thinks she's a realist who dabbles in flights of fancy with romance and her favorite color is blue? :nervous:

I don't think so. Loosen up, everybody. The local gendarmes aren't waiting outside your door to arrest you after you post. It will be okay. ;)

Nothing big really, I think realized there that I will never be happy with another person in my life. You know the new year works on people like that. We like to sum up, don't we? The time was right to but the place wasn't. That's what spoiled my fun and made me feel miserable for a couple of days. Fortunately, a successful rehearsal with the band made me feel so good, I completely abandoned those thoughts... at least till I feel like thinking about it again.

I think HK is from Argentina, prolly Buenos Aires. He's not pretty enough to be from Brazil. ;)

I can easily be tracked down. Name, phone number, everything. That's why I don't give too much info on the boys or who I'm seeing. Fortunately, nobody cares.

It does sound like it came from a fortune cookie!

I did not create the portrait. I could have, I have enough skill...but I don't have the time right now. The portrait lost something when it was shrunk and "pixelated."

So, that makes me really easy to track down. You already know my name... it's easy to check where I live. You also know what I look like.... so if I ever get famous you'll be able to sell my ranting to tabloids (lol!). Maybe we should make this topic "private"? :p

Didn't intend it as a teaser.

My favorite color is green. Hunter green.

If you appeared to be the only female posting in a thread, you might be a little cautious, too.

    I yield. Here it is.

You are a realist who dabbles in flights of fancy with romance. Either
lack of desire or fear may explain, in part, why you are single. You
are extremely smart and would require a man who could stimulate you
not only physically, but intellectually. Men are typically great at one or
the other, but not both. Like a moth, you fly toward the former and
lose your wings in the flame. You hide your wit and humor from the
latter and wind up watching the great dance from the balcony.

BTW, I changed one word...not sure what the deal is on this site...I
notice when I search that it says something about a children's thread?

I love it when a women says "I yield." :eyebrow:

How (why) do you hide your wit and humor from intelligent men? We're not all ugly boors (I am). We're not difficult to get a relationship with. Just find one who's "expendable" and kind of cute, and smile at him everytime you see him. After you get him stammering and saying goofy things whenever he sees you, ask him if he wants to go get coffee. Don't expect him to take the initiative, he's a nerd.

After you got him, if he's kind of skinny, take him to the gym with you. If he's inept, tell him what to do. You guys are in charge, anyway.

BTW, don't worry if you are not a standard beauty, men don't care, if they are in love. ;)

Well, I have to agree with GA here. Intelligence and personality are most important
to me, beauty is quite relative but if someone has a strong personality which makes a
a man/woman want to stay in presence of that person, it's very important. Besides,
long and intelligent discussions make a relationship much more interesting.

That sounds uncannily familiar... well at least the latter part.

Oh so most wholeheartedly agree with this!

Ahh memories, especially the stammering and saying goofy things parts!
