Played this game for years. Tried to install CMF 5.0.6 Corrupted old saves, so I started new. Removed old game (using Windows Add/Remove program) Installed new game. Installed Patch 2 Installed Frontend 5.0.0 Installed 5.0.6 Installed Voice and Portrait pack. Try to launch game with Frontend, and get nothing but unhandled exceptions. Especially combatintro.mp3. Very frustrated. Worked fine with 5.0.4 Not understanding why it does not work now.
^ Two things here: 1. P&V pack is not compatible with 5.0.6 CMF (it's in teh readme), basically because the CMF packs a bunch of new portraits and voices. So remove it/reinstall without it. Try doing this, if it doesn't help, follow step two: 2. Read THIS post and follow directions =)
I am having issues as well. Is there a version like v5.0.1-5 I can download somewhere without these issues? Thanks in advance and for all your hard work.
I still say we should retag the present cmf as 5.0.7 and repost the old 5.0.6 as 5.0.6. The present cmf really is an important change. That way the newbies can get going on some of the new stuff, before they move on to the hard stuff us Co8 Stoners crave. :cool2:
Sorry, but we're not going to support multiple game versions. The fact that the 0002 front end errors have become a problem is not because of the latest 5.0.6 patch itself, as near as I can tell, but because of the new installation method, which requires players to deactivate the Co8 module first, which many of you probably were never in the habit of doing before if all you played was Co8. As to why the 0002 errors have become popular now when they weren't in the beginning, I have no idea. Maybe it's some element of a windows update that we've all had foisted upon us. Or maybe it's certain antivirus providers. The decision to change the installation procedure was not undertaken lightly, but rather because there was a very real possibility that players weren't using the latest modified .dll (a major upgrade) due to the fact that front end might not have been switching that file out properly without a module deactivation. Given all the issues that have arisen, the greater likelihood is that the CMF will be pulled altogether temporarily until the front end issues are addressed or the next front end version is released publically, which is supposed to circumvent that old method anyway.
Something needed to be done, and you have bravely overloaded and frustrated yourself for the sake of us all. Look at the bright side:...(waiting, to the sounds of crickets) I remember cmf's 5.0.1, .2, .3, and .4 all being up simultaneously. I had a blast switching files around and, especially, NOT checking the "Clean Map Cache..." box. It got me over my crankiness about reinstalling endlessly. Some of those versions are STILL knocking around. I understand a certain lack of interest in doing that again.
I've been playing the latest version of CMF 5.0.6 today and I must say to everyone who has been working on this... :notworthy The portraits, the starting store, the new item icons, and the area transition texts. Wow!!! Makes me want to learn how to mod myself and pitch in. LF
Well thanks all. I am at a loss about the loss of using the picture and voice pak. Liked it myself. Anyway, my new install: Installed game. Installed patch 2 Installed CO8 5.0.0 Opened game, deactivated 5.0.0 Uploaded 5.0.6 Activated 5.0.0 in Frontend. Cannot proceed. Get one of two things: Can make up party and then select characters. As soon as I hit "start adventure" I get an immediate CTD. OR When trying to start the 5.0.0 game (patched to 5.0.6) from Frontend I get "Unhandled exception, cannot find path to TOEE\data\scr. Either way, as soon as I launch the game I get a CTD. I HAVE deleted the templefrontend.ini folder, and the data CO8 5.0.0 folder as asked to (I have tried moving it to data and that did not help, so I deleted it) So near but so far. Any ideas for someone not terribly gifted in this sort of stuff. I would hate to think my gaming is :tombstone Thanks in advance. I have not used any :censored: as I am trying to be patient.
Hey LF. How did you install your mods/games, and exactly how? I want to be doing what you do. Cannot get there, yet.
Uninstalled everything. Installed ToEE Patch 1 (I know you don't have to I just do it to be safe.) Patch 2 Circle_of_Eight_Mod_Pack_5.0.0_Final. (Clicked everything but the two optional's under the shop map.) CMF 5.0.6 (the 57MB or latest one) Did #2 from above (Link repeated HERE.) Ran FrontEnd with my options. Did NOT use any other portrait packs to get the cool new ones with the great originals. Went HERE and added the CMF submissions that did not have "Added to the CMF XX.XX.2008" above the download AND followed the instructions on where everything goes. Running on 32 bit Windows Vista OS. Hope you get it working.
