Sorcerer won't level up

I have a NG party and the sorcerer is also NG. The experience points are lessening, rather than increasing. What is going on?

I think I had to resurrect this character awhile back, using a scroll. Could this be the problem?

Edit: BTW, I did a search and an advanced search and got 500+ results. The ones I read only used "level" for the criteria, I guess. So that didn't work.

I am using the Atari patch 2 and the C08 mod and the patch for that mod. I am using the Front End correctly and everything seems to be installed correctly.

 

Well, I went to the Druid in case it was the spell permanency bug, and Jaroo said he'd fix up my Sorcerer. If he did, the Sorcerer now had only 3 hp...not the temp ones from damage, etc., but max hps. So I retired him and created a new one.

Things are once again going smoothly, except my Sorcerer is a level behind everyone.

 

If you resurrect a player its experience goes lower than its beginning exp of level. Lets say you resurrected a lvl 9 guy its experience will drop to lvl 8 when it is still lvl 9.. Gotcha??

 

That may be what happened...been a while, so I'm not sure. Seems like the xp points were dropping after each battle, and I'm not sure that you are addressing that. When they got down to 300 something, I deleted the character and created a new one. So the new Sorcerer would be a level lower.

Maybe having the xp decrease is how the game makes a character get to a lower level? Just seemed strange that it happened after each battle and not all at once.

 

Ah, be a real man. Dead is dead. Line up the next NPC (or PC) for the slaughter!

 

If you equipped an unholy item in a good character, that could be the cause.
i dunno how the engine would manage a charcter with a negative level, going up a level or gaining experience.
Maybe you've found an unknown bug :shrug:

Also - to next post(er) - I didn't give the Sorcerer any thing that I can recall.

What level was the sorcerer?
Maybe the loss of xp because was dead, leave the charcter at negative xp, and the game messed up things, lowering more instead of making it positive...

I think you've got it. My Sorcerer was L1 when he died, then I raised him up.

Really doesn't matter, now...not likely to raise anyone up again for along time...that was the resurrect spell scroll my thief stole early on in the game.

 

I always play with Barbie sitting on my desk, facing the computer screen. She was quite taken by the Wandering Bard
