I never or rarely ever had the secret door bug in ToEE or the
Co8 5.0.x... never had it till the KotB demo beta... so that was
pretty peculiar... also I've never experienced (maybe once) save
    corruption until KotB...

And yes, I'm also running a legal, but cracked version. Don't wanna
have more problems with running the game.

Hmm, I am all patched up to 5.04. Can the crack still be put on? I am guessing you need the one for the 1.02 patch.

Doh! pressed edit and not quote - sorry Sapper.

You need crack for Atari patch 2. Don't use it if you aren't having any problems. If you are, it's one of the first things to do when you reinstall.

edit: Ok I've tested this again and not found any problems. Please make sure that you have all the latest CMF files posted by me. The problem with the door could be to do with some kind of clash with different versions of protos up on the CMF thread (which is a problem which won't really be resolved until things are put together for the next full release). If there is still an issue for you and you're sure that I've missed sommat, then I'll do a full reinstall and run through again just to triple check.

So, basically the blood is a substitute for the potion of Heal? I read somewhere talk about the witches mentioning this but I think that was just Modder chat. The witches never said anything to my group.

Not really. I played with the Bing encounter to get it working closer to how the actual dialogue was in the game. The whole Bing thing was actually a tad bugged as some things didn't happen when they should have and some dialogue options never triggered. It also acts as a game balancing device much as the giant's head does. Risk vs reward etc etc

Which dialog were you referring to? Please explain in more detail. Thanks

I saw bing.dlg line 210, but I cannot see what leads up to that.

Read the .dlg file for Bing and family in original game. Bing isn't meant to be happy if party just go and cure him without being asked.

edit to answer your edit ;) : no idea because I don't have game in front of me atm. Only just back online after a long break so catching up with downloads atm.

OK. So, what is the final word on the orc blood in 5.0.5/.6?

One of the more active modders will have to answer that one. But any changes will have been noted in the readme. Have a peek through it and see? Or try a forum search?

I will be redoing the whole Bing thing within the next few months. I think Zeb's quest resolved the issue where doing steps in the "wrong" order messed things up. But nothing but a complete rewrite can fix the issue of Troika's original quest sucking golf balls through garden hoses.

Fair enough :) One of the big issues in going nuclear and starting from scratch which was always my preferred option is the butterfly effect upon things like speech files etc etc. But good luck! :)

Arioch, you don't like the idea of Bing getting upset about regaining his clarity?? Too unbelievable to wish to be a child and avoid the toils of making masterwork equipment?? Bing just wants to "unplug" from the Midieval Matrix! And you modders foiled him! Poor Bing.

Here's the Bing and Jakk quests in a nutshell, and why I dislike them:

    1) HEAL Bing before getting Convert Jakk quest -- Bing is mad at you because he didn't have to work when everybody thought he was cursed. HEAL Bing after getting Convert Jakk quest and he is happy because you Healed him. Inconsistent.

    2) Terjon gives you a quest to convert Jakk, but fails to give any reason why Jakk is special, and fails to mention that Jakk already asked Terjon for help with Bing and that Terjon failed.

    3) Terjon tells you to find a way to HEAL Bing, even though Terjon is a 10th level Cleric and couldn't do it. Oh, but the party can steal a potion of Heal from Terjon's bookshelf that works.

    4) Terjon is glad to have Jakk "on board." When did Terjon get an MBA? I'd like to give the party an option to crucify Terjon and get *him* "on board."

@Zeb -- I have nothing against your fix, but I'm on a mission to make the conversion quests more palatable :)

Hum, i see your point, Arioch. :)
I think those are simple details that can be "fixed" simply in the dialog. For example
I never noted that, even when i have read the dlg.
You can make Bing have the happy answer always, but if you have enough sense motive, you'll get the bonus grumpy one.

Well, any member of Hommlet that has some skill, it's valuable, more if Terjon sees there's a small chance to have him on his side. Since Jakk would make better (and more) equipment with Bing's help, i'ts quite logical.

That's a good point. I always wondered about that.
A magical illness? that won't be cured by Heal...still, if it's a Curse, then it won't be healed neither. Maybe changing the potion? Terjon thinks on healing magic, while it could be more of something of arcane root. Instead of having the potion so easily found, players could do some asking (Burne, or Spugnoir) and then Terjon identifies the problem and makes a potion.

LOL good one too. That should be relatively simple, you come back and tell him. ;)

Frankly, there's a good amount of stuff on Hommlet to make it riddled with quests, some minor, some important...
Over all, there's a good amount of problems in Hommlet, with a bit of thougth it could be posible to have them linked as a whole subplot, with the Temple on on side, and lareth on the others...

On a side note: i've never seen the dialog with Nira melubb

    PC "-did you farted?"
    NM "-Sir, the audacity!"
