The KotB 1.0.1 bug list thread is closed, so not sure if I should be posting these separately, in the community feedback forum, or not at all so please let me know. At my first encounter with Durrak with a level 2 bard leading the conversation with the papers from the Baliff, i get the option to use my bardic knowledge to let me know to be upfront with him. After that there's a couple of dialogue options. I can't remember them exactly but #1 is something like, when asked what my business in the inner keep is, to say something to the effect of "I thought it was obvious from the papers, I'm looking for the Captain of the Cavalry. Choosing this option has a good result in that he lets you move on. Choosing option #2 - which I thought was another way of stating you are pursuing and investigation gets a response from him to the effect of "Well then I think your visit in the Inner Keep has come to an end." You can then choose to attack him (obviously foolish), or agree to have him escort you out of the Inner Keep. I did the latter, but instead of being teleported to the Inner Keep gate I suddenly found myself in a strange temple in the Deep Swamp area with a goblin leader beside me. I opted not to talk to the goblin and went in one of the doors and immediately was attacked by a bunch of unarmed children. I don't think this is working as intended, so this is just an FYI.
I love that sentence. Yes it sounds like a bug (probably sent you to map 5130 instead of 5030). You had the Merchant's Guild quest at lvl 2 before exploring the Deep Swamp? You should probably leave that on hold for a while, since it is meant to be a late game quest where the skill checks assume skills in the 10-12 ranks, for memory (so around lvl 4-5 + maxed out skill ranks and a bonus from race / synergy / Cha etc). And by all means post your bugs in this thread. One of the moderators had a tantrum and shut the official bug thread, I forget who, but all bugs are still documented.
Ok much thanks for the info Ted. Yes, after that, I got the impression I was delving into some high-level territory and started focusing on other bulletin board quests. The actual experience made me lol pretty hard - these three unarmed children are wailing away on my hulking half-orc fighter sporting full-plate cladding and a glaive. At first I thought it was some legit evil trap i fell into.
And yes, I hadn't touched any of the swamp related quests at that point. I had only ventured into the spider forest and rescued the merchant (which is what got me into the Merchant's guild and Inner Keep).
