For sure it's obvious there's a lot of difference between standard and NC, except that along first parts it makes non sense seeing what NC is.

I don't know well enough the game, even less Co8 to be sure. Runs can feel different on many details because of various aspects, order of stuff done, skills of leader or in party, skills rolls, perhaps the party alignment start, more.

So I wasn't sure until I saw the Burne reward of 100 in Standard for traders problem, and 50 like vanilla in NC.

I wonder why, and if there's any list of changes between the two, but it's weird that's the point. But ok beside this reward I never saw of 100 but in Standard, I'm sure of nothing, it's just a feeling.

I think the reward is a total that is divided by the number of characters. With 4 I get 75, with 3 i get 100

IIRC the difference between NC and standard are governed by a flag (game global flags 500) and it is used to enable/disable the starting points of a few scripts that lead to new areas and such. Small differences like this are unlikely to be the result of that.

[edit] NM, misunderstood what you meant by 'standard', apologies.

Mmm, I always got 50, that's weird, and with Co8 standard 100, and no way with 3 characters but 5 and eventually companions. Now playing Co8 CE with 6 characters and still 50.

But also I have read stuff on that it seems I can't achieve trigger some option. There's perhaps a link, but when I got 100 it was nothing different than usual or I didn't noticed something.

A very improbable possibility is I didn't manage well the multiple ToEE versions installed and the Co8 Standard was used to try install TemplePlus but didn't finished the install. I doubt it.

At some point I suspected it's what I did with my Co8 NC installed, so I did a total fresh install (again) Gog, Co8 CE, Portraits. And no difference, still 50reward from this quest.

That's what I thought, it's the answer I got from wondering about the difficulty management broken by Co8 NC.

Co8 Standard adds a lot of stuff and changes, but it's hard to tell what, I'm still discovering new stuff obviously coming from vanilla when there's vocal acting involved, same actors.

As I don't know very well vanilla nor any Co8 version, I can't be safe, but Co8 NC looks very faithful to original which means that Co8 Standard looks like a totally pointless version.

I can't believe the fun I have with the game. I have a vanilla play finishing, I started a new Co8 CE play in parallel, had a Co8 play standard running but I think, I'll give up and will do fresh new install and will try with 4 characters only, but 4 followers. From this play I'll take care of differences between Co8 standard and CE. At this amount of replay of first parts (close to 10), BG2 first parts had already started bore me quite a lot. I can't wait play an evil party, not my stuff, but the game makes it very appealing to see the differences.

[edit] I think I'm completely misunderstanding what you meant by 'standard'... the biggest difference between C08 Standard and vanilla is tons of bug fixes and a few non bugs that were deemed odd (goblin standing in Hommlet) being removed or tweaked.

    Far from pointless.

I looked at the script, it's 50 gold in either case.

I've also verified, the only changes in Standard vs NC in the normal campaign are: no Welkwood Bog, no Arena of Heroes, and no Ronald. Just like it says in the co8 explained thread...

Mmm? My comments for differences was about Co8 Standard vs Co8 NC.

I commented your post because you wrote: Current version sticks very close to OC.

It's close but also many changes that aren't clear bug fixes but more related to cleaning and some streamlining addition (magic chest, easier and more teleports, no more followers cost). But yes that changes are related to cleans mainly beside the bug fixes.

What? What a joke, it seems I screwed it up and thought a play among many was Co8 standard but was Co8 CE, the 100 reward ends with zero explanation, same for all the other difference I was suspecting.

You know what, I remind clearly there was no companion priest at temple, so not Co8 NC, but also remind the Welkwood Bog dialog triggers so NC. Very weird, but clearly seeing the garbage I seem have, this thread is totally invalid, I need a fresh install of anything, done for Gog and NC but to do for Standard.

So TFEX is pretty clear, standard, but it's also clear that I started so many time the game with many different version that I confuse things, so let say the 100 reward is imagination. :)
