Black Jay's Dead sheep

There is a way to complete this quest without make the boy(that poisoined the sheep) assassinate?I cannot make him confess and save him.

 

If you do not have the right skills, pick up some of the Hemlock on the ground and take it to the Druid to be identified, then confront the boy.

 

I meant:I don't want him to be killed.In this way,his life will be spared?

Yes, confront the boy and warn him off, I usually either take the +1 Arrows or no reward from Black Jay
