    Alright, I'm not surprised there are some bugs there as that was a ridiculously complicated plotline with numerous potential outcomes and you're about the first person who has given me decent feedback on it. I played through every eventuality but clearly didn't test the 'afterwards' bit nearly enough. Good pickup.

    The tower in the northwest keep (where the Captain of the Watch is) is illogical.

    After Ricardo and the priest are gone I can enter the tower without being immediately spoken too. The Cpt. stands there and waits to be spoken to - but I can just ignore him and explore the tower.

    When going up the stairs the tower has an exit to the northern wall. And from there a door in the outside of the same tower going to the western wall (where Billy was) can be seen - but inside there is no exit going there. And going further up ends in a room without a ladder to the top of the tower - yet there is a watchman standing guard on top of the tower without a way to get there.

    My sneaking Bard picked the lock of the treasurechest floating in the water near the Dragon and took the whole treasure while the dragon was still dormant. After defeating the dragon I saved. Today when I reloaded the chest was locked again when I clicked on it but it remained empty. Tried it again - every time the game is reloaded the unlocked chest has locked itself again.

    That's every locked chest in ToEE <sigh> The fact that you can sneak past the dragon and steal his treasure is NOT A BUG.

    A watchman (the one on the market) spoke to my party when they simply walked by:
    ...Watchman is looking at you skeptically: Excuse me comrad, I don´t recognize you...
    and the only option is
    1) Confess your crime and receive your punishment.
    In prison I looked at the inventory and was surprised that my Paladin was still wearing the silver plate gloves (that my Bard "leant" from the Captain of the Watch) but that the Magical Plate that was looted from the Priest with the permission of the Captain had been confiscated. The Paladin who wore the Plate Mail was not leading the party, the Bard was in front.

    As the gloves are still there I guess the "crime" was not theft but wearing something similar to the watchmen? If so shouldn´t the Priests magical plate be exempt from the "could be an attempt at disguise and has to be confiscated" list? Especially as the Captain himself said that the party can loot everything in the Priests house after they supported the Captain against the Priest. If not the priest must have teleported from his house to the inn - else he would have been arrested for his plate :roll:


    After receiving a spider egg Flay mentions Spider poison and offers a bottle - however the bottle in the inventory is "Poison (Mystical)" just like the bottles that Ricardo or Brother Laemas had. In the ingame helpfile "Spider Venom" is listed as a poison - shouldn´t Flay hand out spider venom when he speaks about Spider poison?

    Ingame Helpfile? All poison available is currently Mystical. Metagaming is NOT A BUG.

    Attached as zip.
    Party is standing on the northern wall.
    When scrolling left there is a door visible on the outside of the Tower that would connect it with the western wall. However when re-entering the Tower there is no door to the south of the room.
    When scrolling up in the outside the Guard on top of the tower can be seen that has no way to enter the Tower or ever have left the tower.

    After returning to the Lizardmen I looked at the logbook and this time the "Dragonslayer" reputation was there that I missed in the first game (with the obsolete version of KotB).

    However the date and time is only shown on the left side of the logbook. On the right side it´s Day 0 of Month 0

    After delivering 1 egg to Flay I travelled to the Spider Forest to bring the others to the Spider Queen. In the middle of the forest 1 large and 2 smaller spiders where standing around, the combat music started playing, the circles around the spiders where red/hostile - yet they did not attack. The spiderqueen only promised to have her children not attack me if I would return her eggs (which I haven´t done yet). Is that working as intended so that a party can return her eggs without having to fight or a bug and they should only remain peaceful if the Back in the Sack quest actually has been solved?

    The walkthrough lists the Lizard Refuge as a safe resting area:

    However after defeating the Dragon and the 3 Giant Lizard and resting there I was surrounded by 3 giant frogs.


    The Lizardmen Chief states that he and his people will return to their home that the dragon drove them away from - but after they leave the Swamp they don´t appear in the Refuge.

    You have to fulfil the quest to get the promised benefits of fulfilling the quest.
    Bug.

    I'm going to blame Gaear for that, inasmuch as he has drastically improved the artwork and layout of that area and I am still playing catch-up with some of the subtle elements.
    Your saved confirmed you had the 'Friend of the Keep' reputation, please see your above screenshot for its effects.
    No idea, probably an internal mechanic but I'll check the file that starts that stuff.

    Your Paladin had no ranks in Bluff so he doesn't get to Bluff his way out...
    That may be the issue, or it may be something to do with him having the medal on. I'll have to check that, it sounds like a typo (watchman starting the wrong line of dialogue).
    I explained that at length somewhere else but I think it was the modding forum so you'll forgive me if I go into detail.

    Yes, there should definitely be different poisons in the game - the difference between mystic, spider venom and dragon bile can be in the 1000s of gps. Their protos are in there somewhere already. However, being the anal type I am, I am not bothering to include them until they work - there is no point making dragon bile poison if it just poisons you with 'mystical'. But I haven't come up with a way to do it yet (that is, to cast the Poison spell with different effects depending on the potion you are casting from) without resorting to different spells every time. So, WIP.

    I haven´t fulfilled the BitS quest - so the spiders should be KOS?
    In that case there´s something wrong:

    The music changed to the more threatening combat music, the spiders circle is red/hostile - yet no combat starts.

    I attached a savegame in the spider forest. A bit north of the 3 spiders is a dire bat - and it´s not doing anything too while having a red circle.

    Did you by any chance use the scroll of "repel vermin" recently? The one the scribe gives you?

    No, in this game I haven´t yet fulfilled the "Back in the Sack" quest and as far as I know I can talk to the Bailiff about help (which is the scribe handing out some scrolls) only after completing BitS.

    Edit: I continued the savegame I uploaded. Left the 3 spiders simply standing there and ignored the dire bat north of them to get to the Spider Queen - and halfway to her a large Spider attacked the party as normal.

    Bluffing would mean an attempt to get away with something wrong - as a paladin and being a member of a holy order herself would there be a need to explain wearing Plate Armour at all? Especially if it´s the magical plate received when aiding the Cpt. against the Priest? And even if she would need to explain why she would be wearing it wouldn´t that be rather a Diplomacy check to change the Guards attitude?

    Would it be possible to have the guard tell more clearly which crime was commited?
    e.g I could understand being arrested for THEFT (silver plate gloves of the captain) but when the plate is confiscated it appears to be an arrest because the guard assumes a crime like disguising as a guard?

    The medal does work. Since the Paladin is wearing it the guards have stopped asking the party to stow their weapons away. It even works if the Paladin wearing the medal is just one of the party and the Bard the parties leader.

    Good reason and perhaps something to add for the first post in this thread.
    Another poison question: Potions stack (e.g. Potions of Cure Light Wounds) but bottles of Poison don´t. The 3 bottles of Poison (Mystical) my Alchemist (gnomish Wizard) carries take up precious space in addition to the familiar and the secretdoortool - unless I stow away most of the stuff in the oxens saddlebags every few encounters.

    This is a well-known element of ToEE and not a KotB bug.

    Continuing the game I completed the Back in the Sack quest, went to the Bailiff and asked him for help and got the scrolls from the scribe.

    Then I wanted to test the "Friend of the Keep" reputation on the guards of the Inner Keep and spoke to them.

    The screenshot is too large as a jpg file so I zipped it.

    The dialog has the "No" answer to the question if the party has papers just as before, but the
    2nd option is new. As the party never met the Castellan it could be an attempt at a bluff check but it´s not marked as one.

    And if I select 2 the guard raises an eyebrow and agrees to let the party in - only that nothing happens...

    Spiderqueen is dead. Rescued Raynard before talking to Geoffrey so acting without quest. Returned to Marketplace, left Raynard with uncle, got Helm of Reading Magic, then returned to the Bailiff to get the reward and he told me that a good word from him can go a long way to improve my station in the keep. Very uplifting speech that - immediately after the end of that dialog the watchman next to the Bailiff stepped in to accuse the party of disguising as watchmen while the Bailiff stood idly next to them :roll:

    Especially as the KotB Guide says:
    Well, the Bailiff knows every member of the guard and every adventurer - but the watchman next to him knows them better and arrests them after being rewarded by the Bailiff :p

    It´s however nice that the watchman here tells exactly why he wants to arrest the party so he must use a different text than the watchman on the marketplace and there are more options to chose from than on the marketplace.

    I attached a zipped savegame after taking the threatening option to tell the watchmen if he think´s it would be worth to risk his life arresting the party so you can take a look what the party is wearing.


    IMO if someone there accuses the party of disguising as guards it should be the Bailiff as the superior officier and not the watchman.
